This study is motivated by the low level of students’ learning concentration in the classroom, which is reflected in behaviors such as drowsiness, lack of focus, and limited participation during learning activities. These conditions are generally caused by less varied teaching methods and a lack of activities that actively engage students. Therefore, this study aims to examine the use of brain gym–based ice breaking activities to reduce drowsiness and improve students’ concentration. The method employed in this research is a literature review, involving the analysis of various relevant academic sources, including journals, books, and research articles. The findings indicate that integrating ice breaking activities with brain gym techniques has a positive impact on the learning process. This approach is shown to enhance concentration, memory, and students’ readiness to learn. In addition, the simple movements in brain gym can help increase oxygen flow to the brain, making students feel more refreshed and focused. In conclusion, brain gym–based ice breaking can serve as an effective, innovative, and enjoyable instructional strategy to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom.

This literature review examines the effectiveness of Brain Gym as an intervention to improve children's learning concentration. Brain Gym is a series of physical movements developed to enhance brain function. Several studies in the last decade have suggested that Brain Gym activities can positively influence children's attention span and cognitive performance, particularly in educational settings. Through a review of 20 empirical studies published between 2015 and 2024, this study finds consistent evidence of improved focus and academic engagement among children who participated in regular Brain Gym exercises. The findings suggest that Brain Gym can serve as a complementary approach to conventional teaching strategies, especially for elementary-level learners. Implications for educators and future research are discussed.

An elderly person is someone who has reached the age of 60 years and over. One of the health problems that often occurs in the elderly is a decline in memory, learning and cognitive abilities in the elderly which causes them to have difficulty interacting and being difficult to understand. Conditions that affect cognitive abilities in the elderly are called dementia. Dementia is a chronic and progressive decline in memory and thinking function, causing disruption of functional activities. Nursing interventions that can be given to the elderly to improve cognitive function in the occurrence of dementia include brain gymnastics. The case study design used is descriptive research. The method used to collect data is using the Android-based MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination), namely MEFuKo (MMSE for Cognitive Function) to determine the level of dementia in the elderly. Brain exercise therapy (brain gym) is carried out for 7 consecutive days, 1 meeting per day with a duration of 15 minutes. Subject I's MMSE score before brain exercise therapy was 16 (presence of definite cognitive impairment) increased to 19 (presence of probable cognitive impairment) and there was an increase of 3 in total MMSE scores. The MMSE score in subject II before brain exercise therapy was 19 (possible cognitive impairment), after therapy the MMSE score became 23 (probable cognitive impairment) and there was an increase of 4 in total MMSE scores. The more activities you do, the less likely it is that seniors will experience a decline in cognitive function. The conclusion is that there was an increase in cognitive function in the two case study subjects which illustrate the application of brain gym therapy to cognitive function in elderly people with dementia. Brain exercise therapy is recommended to improve working memory function which can improve the quality of life of the elderly.

Healthy children are in perfect condition both physically, mentally/psychologically and socially (free from disease, weakness and disability). In order for children to grow and develop optimally, children must also be accustomed to healthy living behavior and the Childhood Phase is the developmental phase from the age of 1 or 2 years to 10-12 years, this phase is further classified into two, namely early childhood (small children) between 1-6 years, and later childhood (big children) between 6-12 years. According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, reading mastery is not mandatory for PAUD age children (3-5 years) because this skill will only be taught formally at elementary school level. Children should actually start being taught to read maximally at the age of 4-6 years. Because, this is a golden period for the cognitive development of the brain. In other words, they can absorb lessons and imitate quickly. Brain gym or brain exercise is a touch that can stimulate the work and functioning of the brain optimally, namely further activating the abilities of the right and left brain, so that cooperation between the right and left brain hemispheres can be established. This can improve memory in the child's brain to learn to read.
