Hypertension is a condition in which systolic blood pressure exceeds 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure is above 90 mmHg. Hypertension is the leading chronic non-communicable disease among adults in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 26.5%, and tends to increase with age. Family nursing care plays an important role in helping patients manage hypertension through education, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, and ongoing monitoring. This case study aimed to describe comprehensive nursing care for Ny. K, a 66-year-old patient from the family of Tn. I, diagnosed with hypertension in Desa Tonjong RT 02 RW 04, Kecamatan Tonjong, Kabupaten Brebes. Nursing care was conducted from December 27 to 29, 2025, using interview, physical examination, observation, and documentation methods. Two nursing diagnoses were identified: (1) Risk of ineffective cerebral tissue perfusion, and (2) Knowledge deficit related to hypertension. Nursing interventions included vital sign monitoring, oral medication administration (Amlodipine 10 mg), health education on hypertension, and non-pharmacological therapy using bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) decoction. Evaluation results showed that the knowledge deficit was resolved after one session of health education, while the risk of ineffective cerebral tissue perfusion was partially resolved, with blood pressure decreasing from 180/100 mmHg to 165/90 mmHg over three home visits. It is recommended that families continue the bay leaf decoction therapy for one week and maintain regular blood pressure monitoring at the nearest health facility.

The quality of rice that is suitable for consumption, one of which is determined by the absence of associated components when the rice is in storage. Rice storage is carried out by means of long shelf life and good rice quality. Damage to rice due to pest attacks causes a decrease in quality and quantity. Environmentally friendly efforts are needed to control the rice weevil Sitophilus oryzae using vegetable materials. This study sought to ascertain the death rate of rice weevils treated with lemongrass stem (Cymbopogon citratus), bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum), and pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius). The study employed a fully randomized design with three treatments in the form of simplicia plant components. There were 21 study units because each treatment included seven repetitions. Each treatment used 20 rice weevil imago breeding results which were infested in a jar containing 200 g of rice for 4 weeks in the laboratory. The use of pandan leaf, bay leaf, and lemongrass simplicia at 7 days after treatment showed the proportion of rice weevil mortality was 59,29%, 39,29%, and 50,00%, respectively. As for the observations of 14 day after treatments, 21 day after treatments, and 28 day after treatments showed that the mortality rate of all rice beetles was above 50%. Regarding the percentage of rice powder, hollow rice, and rice weight loss, the findings of observations on rice weevil mortality did not reveal any significant variations across all treatments.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a degenerative disease commonly experienced by the elderly and requires proper treatment to prevent complications. One traditional treatment alternative used to lower blood sugar levels is bay leaf decoction. This study aimed to determine the effect of bay leaf decoction on reducing blood sugar levels among the elderly in Peuniti Village, Baiturrahman District, Banda Aceh City. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 15 elderly participants selected from a population of 87 elderly individuals. Data collection was conducted by measuring blood sugar levels before and after administering bay leaf decoction once daily for 7 days. Blood sugar levels were checked using a blood glucose meter 20 minutes after consumption. Data were analyzed using a dependent t-test. The results showed that before treatment, all respondents (100%) were categorized as having DM, with an average blood sugar level of 211.0 mg/dL. After treatment, all respondents (100%) were categorized as non-DM, with an average blood sugar level of 160.4 mg/dL. Statistical analysis showed a significance value of 0.004 (p < 0.05), indicating that bay leaf decoction significantly reduced blood sugar levels in the elderly.

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into precision agriculture has significantly improved plant disease recognition; however, many existing deep learning models remain computationally expensive and feature-redundant, limiting their deployment on low-power and edge devices. To address these limitations, this study proposes a lightweight framework for maize leaf disease recognition based on serial deep feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, and machine-learning–based classification. A pre-trained MobileNetV2 network is employed as a fixed feature extractor to obtain discriminative visual representations, while Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is applied to reduce feature dimensionality by approximately 76%, retaining 95% of the original variance and improving computational efficiency. The compressed features are subsequently classified using a Radial Basis Function Support Vector Machine (RBF-SVM), optimized via grid search and cross-validation. Experiments conducted on a four-class maize leaf disease dataset (Northern Leaf Blight, Common Rust, Gray Leaf Spot, and Healthy), with class imbalance handled during training, demonstrate that the proposed MobileNetV2–PCA–SVM pipeline achieves 97.58% accuracy, 96.60% precision, 96.59% recall, and 96.59% F1-score, outperforming the DenseNet201 + Bayesian-optimized SVM baseline (94.60%, 94.40%, 94.40%, and 94.40%, respectively). This improvement corresponds to a 2.98% accuracy gain, a 55% reduction in error rate, an 86% reduction in model parameters (20.31M to 2.75M), and an 85% reduction in model size (81 MB to 12 MB). These results indicate that the proposed framework provides a compact and efficient solution with strong potential for deployment in resource-constrained agricultural environments.

Organic and inorganic waste is often left to accumulate behind the school or burned, which can cause air pollution and threaten the health of the surrounding environment. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of health promotion media on students' knowledge and attitudes about waste management at SMP Negeri 6 Birem Bayeun, East Aceh Regency. Method: This research is a quantitative study with a quasi- experiment design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The total sample in this study was 98 respondents, which were divided into two groups: 49 students received intervention through video media and 49 students through leaflets. The sampling technique used simple random sampling, and data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the average knowledge score after the video and leaflet media intervention had a p=0.000 value, indicating a significant increase. However, the average attitude score after the intervention showed a value of p=0.266, which was not significant. Mann- Whitney test showed no difference in effectiveness between video and leaflet media.Conclusion: It is recommended that schools work together with the government to address waste management issues, so that the practice of burning waste can be minimized for better health and environment.

Acne (Acne vulgaris) is one of the most common skin problems, affecting 80–85% of adolescents aged 15–18 years, with some cases persisting into adulthood. One of the associated bacteria is Staphylococcus epidermidis, a normal skin flora that can become an opportunistic pathogen. Bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are known to contain secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and essential oils with antibacterial activity. This study aimed to formulate ethanol extract of bay leaves into ointments with concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%, test their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis using the disc diffusion method, and evaluate their physical quality (organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, and spreadability). Results showed that the ethanol extract of bay leaves contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The ointments met topical quality standards with pH 5.8–6.9, adhesion time 36–41 seconds, and spreadability 6.9–8.1 cm. Antibacterial activity increased with higher concentrations: 7.8 mm (10%), 12 mm (20%), and 15 mm (30%), although still lower than the positive control (clindamycin, 34 mm). In conclusion, ethanol extract of bay leaves has potential as an active ingredient in topical anti-acne ointments, but further studies with higher concentrations, in vivo testing, and optimized formulations are needed to achieve efficacy comparable to synthetic antibiotics.

Detection and identification of plant diseases is critical to the success and efficiency of agricultural production. Plant disease outbreaks are becoming more frequent throughout the world, and the presence of these diseases in cultivated plants has a significant impact on productivity. Therefore, researchers are focusing on developing effective and reliable plant disease detection methods. Thus, farmers can take advantage of early detection of this disease to minimize future losses. This article discusses machine learning approaches as well as decision trees, K-nearest neighbors, naive Bayes, support vector machines (SVM), and random forests for detecting coffee leaf diseases using leaf images. The above-mentioned classifications were researched and compared to determine the most suitable plant disease prediction model with the highest accuracy. Compared with other classification algorithms, the SVM algorithm achieves the highest accuracy of 99.75%. All the models trained above will be used by farmers to quickly identify and classify new diseases in images as a prevention strategy. As a preventive measure, farmers can detect and classify new diseases in images early.

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder caused by the pancreas failing to produce insulin hormone adequately. Based on the cause, diabetes mellitus is classified into three types, including type 1 DM, type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, and gestational diabetes mellitus. Hyperglycemia can also occur due to food consumed that is not balanced with physical activity carried out so that fat accumulates in the body and causes blood to be unable to enter the body's cells, ultimately increasing blood sugar levels. Signs and symptoms that often appear in Diabetes Mellitus patients are polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyuria (frequent urination due to excessive urine production), polyphagia (quickly feeling hungry even though you eat a lot and want to eat continuously) and weight loss without a clear cause. Symptoms of diabetes mellitus can be controlled by increasing physical activity, following a healthy diet, and getting enough rest. Several studies have proven that bay leaves have the potential as an antidiabetic. This study aims to determine the content of secondary metabolic compounds and the antidiabetic activity of bay leaf extract using α-amylase enzyme inhibition in vitro. This research method uses laboratory experiments. This study uses α-amylase enzyme inhibition to determine the antidiabetic activity contained in bay leaf extract. The method used is DNSA. The results of this study obtained a yield of bay leaf extract of 30%, water content of simplicia of 6.24%, drying loss of simplicia of 5.3%, ash content test of 5.6%, water content test of extract of 6.34%, drying loss test of extract of 7.03%. Bay leaf extract positively contains secondary metabolite compounds, namely saponins, tannins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. The results of IC50 in bay leaf extract of 66.705 ppm are classified as strong antidiabetic. The results of acarbose of 56.818 ppm are classified as strong antidiabetic.

Pneumonia is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in toddlers in Indonesia. Poor family knowledge about pneumonia prevention worsens children's health, necessitating educational efforts as a promotional and preventive measure. This community service activity aims to increase family knowledge and awareness regarding pneumonia prevention in toddlers through health education at Bayu Asih Regional Hospital, Purwakarta, in 2025. Implementation methods included lectures, interactive discussions, and the distribution of educational leaflets to 18 families of toddlers treated in the pediatric ward. Evaluation was conducted by comparing pretest and posttest results. The results showed an average increase in knowledge of 18%, from 76.7 to 90.3. Participants gained a better understanding of the risk factors, signs and symptoms of pneumonia, and preventive measures. Furthermore, families were more motivated to maintain environmental cleanliness, complete immunizations, and provide optimal nutrition for toddlers. In conclusion, family education is effective in increasing family understanding and awareness regarding pneumonia prevention in toddlers and can be a sustainable program in healthcare facilities.

The World Health Organization reports that approximately 1.13 billion people worldwide are living with hypertension, meaning that one in three individuals globally is diagnosed with this condition. In 2022, the number of people with hypertension in Bandung reached 706,051 cases. Hypertension management can be carried out through various non-pharmacological therapies, including bay leaf decoction, celery juice, ginger decoction, date infused water, lemon and watermelon infused water, and cucumber infused water. Cucumber infused water contains high levels of magnesium, calcium, potassium, and flavonoids, which may help reduce blood pressure. This study aimed to determine the effect of cucumber infused water on blood pressure among patients with hypertension at Babakan Sari Community Health Center. The study employed a pre-experimental (quasi-experimental) design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 36 participants were included. The analysis showed a significant reduction in blood pressure after the administration of cucumber infused water, with a p-value less than ? = 0.05. A significant difference was observed in systolic blood pressure before and after the intervention (Z = ?5.324, p = 0.000), as well as in diastolic blood pressure (Z = ?5.362, p = 0.001). These results indicate that cucumber infused water has a significant effect on lowering blood pressure among pre-elderly patients with hypertension at Babakan Sari Community Health Center. This intervention is expected to be applied in daily life as an alternative non-pharmacological approach for hypertension management

Preterm birth remains a global health concern, with 1 in 10 babies worldwide born prematurely. In Indonesia, the preterm birth rate is 29.5%, with 19% in Central Java and as high as 30% in Kendal Regency. Preterm infants require specialized care, making maternal readiness a crucial factor in ensuring optimal home care. This study aimed to analyze the effect of educational interventions using a booklet on mothers’ knowledge and skills in caring for preterm infants. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test control group was employed. A total of 20 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Bivariate analyses were conducted using the McNemar test for paired data and the chi-square test for unpaired data. The results showed a significant improvement in mothers’ knowledge after receiving education with the booklet (p < 0.05), whereas the lecture and leaflet methods showed no significant difference (p > 0.05). However, there was no significant improvement in caregiving skills in either the booklet group or the lecture and leaflet group (p > 0.05). In conclusion, booklet-based education effectively enhances maternal knowledge regarding preterm infant care but does not significantly improve caregiving skills. This highlights the need for practice-based interventions, such as hands-on training and demonstrations, to strengthen maternal competence in managing preterm infant care at home.

Pregnancy is a unique natural condition because although it is not a disease, it often causes complications due to various anatomical and physiological changes in the mother's body. Pregnant women who suffer from anemia can have an impact on the fetus, such as premature birth, the risk of low birth weight (LBW), fetal abnormalities, and increased risk of fetal distress. In general, the causes of anemia in pregnancy are iron deficiency and acute bleeding or even the interaction of both. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the effectiveness of giving red spinach juice and Ambon bananas on Hb levels in pregnant women in the third trimester. The design used in this study was a quantitative inferential study including the pre-experimental type with two group pretest-posttest. Based on the time of data collection, it included the cross-sectional type, sourced from primary and secondary data. An assessment of the difference in increasing HB levels was carried out before and after treatment (Pretest and Postest two Group Design). Data analysis consisted of univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of the analysis showed an effect in giving red spinach juice and Ambon bananas. It is hoped that the Health Center will facilitate health workers (midwives) in providing information on providing guava juice with red spinach leaf juice as an alternative for preventing and managing anemia during pregnancy in the Health Center's work area.

Dyslipidemia is a lipid metabolism disorder characterized by elevated levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) accompanied by decreased levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). This condition is a major risk factor for atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and stroke. One plant with potential as an antidyslipidemic agent is bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum). These leaves are known to contain active compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and polyphenols that have antioxidant and hypolipidemic activities. The potential of natural compounds from medicinal plants to reduce blood cholesterol levels has gained significant attention in recent years. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of microencapsulated ethanol extract of bay leaves in reducing total cholesterol levels in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by a high-cholesterol diet. The experimental study design employed was a laboratory-based true experimental method with a post-test control group design. A total of 25 male rats were used and divided into six groups: normal control, negative control (high cholesterol diet without therapy), positive control (simvastatin), and three groups treated with bay leaf extract microencapsulates at doses of 0.25%, 0.5%, and 0.75%. The treatment was given for 14 days, then total cholesterol levels were measured using an enzymatic method. The results showed that the group with a dose of 0.75% experienced the highest decrease in total cholesterol levels, namely -70 mg/dL, greater than the simvastatin group (-49 mg/dL). Statistical analysis using One Way ANOVA showed a significant difference compared to the negative control (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the 0.75% dose of microencapsulated Syzygium polyanthum extract demonstrated an effect equal to or greater than simvastatin. Thus, it can be concluded that bay leaf ethanol extract microencapsulates are effective in reducing total cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic rats. This suggests that Syzygium polyanthum microencapsulation has the potential to be developed as an alternative phytotherapy for cholesterol reduction.

Background: Fever is a common side effect after infants receive DPT (Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus) immunization. This condition often causes concern for parents, so appropriate treatment is needed. Generally, fever can be treated with pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. One of the most widely used non-pharmacological treatments is warm compresses. However, innovations in the use of natural ingredients are starting to be noticed, one of which is dadap serep leaves which are thought to be more effective in helping to lower body temperature. The active compounds in dadap serep leaves are believed to provide a calming effect while helping vasodilation, so that body heat can be reduced more quickly. Methodology: This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent pretest posttest control group design. The research subjects were divided into two groups, namely the intervention group who received dadap serep leaf compresses and the control group who received warm compresses. Body temperature measurements were taken before and after the intervention. The data obtained were analyzed using statistical tests to see the difference in temperature reduction in each group. Results: The intervention group showed a significant reduction in body temperature, namely 73.3%. In contrast, the control group using warm compresses only experienced a 20% reduction, which was not statistically significant. The results of the intergroup comparison test also showed a significant difference, supporting the research hypothesis. Conclusion: Dadap serep leaf compresses were proven to be more effective than warm compresses in reducing fever in infants following DPT immunization. These findings suggest that the use of dadap serep leaves can be recommended as a safe, effective, and easy-to-implement non-pharmacological intervention alternative in daily practice.

Microscopic staining is an important technique in observing plant tissue to increase contrast and clarify cellular structures. One of the dyes commonly used in plant tissue studies is Safranin, a cationic base compound from the azo group that has a high affinity for cell components that produce negative impacts such as lignin and nucleic acids. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Safranin as an alternative dye in microscopic observation of spinach leaf tissue (Amaranthus spp.). The practicum was carried out using the wet preparation method, using cross-sections of spinach leaves stained with Safranin solution, then observed under a light microscope. The results showed that Safranin was able to provide good red color contrast to cell walls, cell nuclei, and blood vessel tissue, so that structures such as epidermis, palisade tissue, sponges, and xylem and phloem could be clearly identified. However, obstacles arise in the regulation of concentration and duration of staining, where excess of both can cause excess and excessive structural accuracy. Therefore, adjustment of technical parameters is needed to obtain optimal results. These findings indicate that Safranin is effective as a microscopic dye and has the potential to be used in educational practicum activities, because it is economical, safe, and easy to apply. This study also applies the interdisciplinary application of chemistry and biology in science learning.

Oil palm is a key commodity supporting Indonesia’s economy through exports and employment. The industry’s success depends heavily on the selection of superior seedlings, which determine productivity, crop quality, and resistance to pests and diseases. Manual selection, however, often leads to subjectivity and inconsistency due to limited human resources and genetic variation. To address this, the study applies the Naïve Bayes algorithm for classifying oil palm seedlings based on seven variables: height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf color, disease resistance, root growth, and fruit yield. Using an explanatory quantitative method, the study follows seven stages: identifying problems, literature review, collecting 1,000 data entries from PT Intitama Berlian Perkebunan, data pre-processing, system modeling (UML), algorithm implementation, and evaluation using a confusion matrix and black box testing. Data was split into 80% training and 20% testing. The Naïve Bayes-based classification achieved 95% accuracy and perfect recall (1.00) for the superior seedling class. However, its performance on the minority class (non-superior seedlings) was weaker due to dataset imbalance. Black box testing verified all system functions worked correctly, enabling effective and efficient use by administrators. The study concludes that Naïve Bayes improves objectivity, efficiency, and accuracy in seedling selection. Nonetheless, attention is needed on data balancing and optimization to maintain consistent performance across classes. This system shows strong potential as a decision-support tool in plantations and promotes digital transformation in agricultural processes.

Dry noodles are one type of noodles in Indonesia. Noodles are a type of food that is low in protein and other nutrients, but high in carbohydrates. This is because the main ingredient in making noodles uses various types of flour, one of which is wheat flour. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the effect of adding genjer and spinach on the chemical and sensory qualities of dried noodles and to identify the optimal treatment combination in terms of nutritional value, antioxidant activity, and color that consumers like. The method used in this study was a completely randomized factorial design (CRD) in a two-factor variation with two repetitions, namely genjer puree concentrations of 10, 20 & 30% and spinach puree concentrations of 10, 20 & 30%. The results of the study found that the higher the concentration of genjer pulp, the higher the ash, protein, fiber, and total phenol content but not for the antioxidant activity. The addition of spinach puree apart from being a natural colorant can also help increase the fiber, ash, and antioxidant content of the noodles. Noodles had the best results of chemical analysis in the combination treatment of 20% genjer puree and 30% spinach puree with the results of 5.03% water content, 0.90% ash content, 12.12% protein, 9.93% fiber, 73.15% antioxidants, phenol 2.62 mgGAE/g. Dry noodles made from genjer and spinach have the potential to be developed because they have high antioxidant activity.

Most of the hypertension sufferers in RW 006 Sukmajaya Village, Bogor Regency are >60 years old (elderly). One treatment option for hypertension sufferers is non-pharmacological therapy or herbal treatment. The research aims to determine the effect of giving bay leaf boiled water on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. This type of research is quantitative with a Quasi-Experimental research design with a Two Group Pretest and Posttest Design. The sample in this study was 20 elderly people suffering from hypertension in RW 002 Sukmajaya Village, Bogor Regency, including 10 respondents as the Intervention group and 10 respondents as the Control group. Determining the number of samples using Purposive Sampling. This research data was processed using the Independent Sample T-test statistical test. Based on the statistical test results, the systolic blood pressure in the intervention group showed a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05 from the paired samples test, and the diastolic blood pressure showed a p-value of 0.005 < 0.05. Meanwhile, in the control group, the systolic blood pressure showed a p-value of 0.087 > 0.05 from the paired samples test, and the diastolic blood pressure showed a p-value of 0.093 > 0.05. It can be concluded that in the intervention group, the administration of boiled bay leaf water had an effect on reducing blood pressure in elderly individuals with hypertension. Meanwhile, in the control group, there was no change in blood pressure among elderly individuals with hypertension in RW 006, Sukmajaya Village, Bogor Regency, in 2025.

Gout is a type of inflammatory joint disease that occurs due to the accumulation of uric acid crystals. It usually occurs in several joints, such as the toes, ankles, knees, and big toes. Gout is also commonly called gout. This study aims to determine the Effect of Bay Leaf Decoction on Reducing Uric Acid in the Elderly at the Binjai Estate Health Center in 2024. The design of this study uses a descriptive correlation research method ( correlation study). The population in this study were all elderly people as many as 26 respondents, a total sampling of 26 samples. The variables in the study were the independent variable, namely boiled bay leaves and the dependent variable, uric acid levels in the elderly. The research instrument used a questionnaire and chi-square test. The results of the study show that regular elderly drink stew leaf greetings , grade sour tendon down as many as 16 people (84.2%) and elderly minority drink stew leaf regards regular , level sour tendon No down as many as 3 respondents (15.8%) while majority elderly who do not regular drink stew leaf greetings , grade sour tendon down as many as 1 respondent (14.2%) and a minority elderly who do not regular drink leaf greetings , grade sour tendon No down as many as 6 respondents (85.8%). The chi-square test shows that mark significant p-Value = 0.002< a( 0.05), so H 1 is accepted. Conclusion This research is There is connection influence stew leaf regards to decline level sour veins in the elderly at the Community Health Center Binjai Estate.

Providing education to the public by using bay leaves as a preparation will increase public awareness of the plants that grow in Indonesia, which are rich in health benefits, thereby increasing public enthusiasm.
