Abstrak. Osteoporosis is a degenerative bone disease characterized by a decrease in bone mass and strength, particularly in postmenopausal women. Traditional plant-based therapy presents an attractive alternative given the rich local bioactive potential and limited access to pharmacological treatments. One important biochemical indicator in bone regeneration is the level of alkaline phosphatase (ALP). The aim of this study is to evaluate the potential of various Indonesian traditional medicinal plants as bioactive agents in the prevention of osteoporosis, with an emphasis on increasing ALP levels. This method employed a literature search by collecting several scientific articles discussing the anti-osteoporosis activity of traditional medicinal plants through in vitro, in vivo, and clinical observation studies. The results obtained show that traditional medicinal plants such as Turmeric (Curcuma longa), Black pepper (Piper nigrum), Bromelain (Ananas comosus), Papaya (Carica papaya), Japanese knotweed (Reynoutria japonica Houtt.), Veratrum nigrum, Sickle senna (Cassia tora), Red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum), Clove (Syzygium aromaticum L.), White turmeric (Curcuma zeadoaria), and Celery (Apium graveolens) are capable of reducing the number of osteoclasts and promoting bone formation. These findings consistently demonstrate a positive role in bone health through increased ALP levels. Indonesian traditional medicinal plants hold great potential as evidence-based anti-osteoporosis agents, particularly through enhancing ALP levels and osteoblast activity. This literature review supports the development of local herbal therapy as a promotive and preventive alternative against osteoporosis.

This study explores the meaning and role of the Nahunan tradition in maternal and infant care among the Dayak Ngaju community. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, utilizing literature review and field interviews. The findings reveal that Nahunan is not merely a naming ritual, but also symbolizes spiritual protection and social acceptance of the child. The practice involves traditional leaders, herbal remedies, and natural symbols. However, modern influences have diminished the younger generation’s understanding of its values. Preserving local culture within healthcare services is essential to maintaining community identity.

The Bapalas Bidan tradition is a ritual of the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan to express gratitude to the midwife after the birth process. The ritual includes activities such as bathing the baby, serving offerings, and performing a symbolic ceremony to spiritually "return" the baby from the midwife to its parents. In the past, these rituals had a magical element, but nowadays more prayers and Islamic principles are applied. While modern midwifery practice faces challenges to its survival, this tradition remains crucial as it strengthens culture and social connections. This study examines the meaning of the tradition, its evolution, and the ways in which communities maintain it in modern times.

Dance education has a strategic role in shaping students' character and developing their creativity and discipline potential from an early age. Amidst the challenges of modern education that tend to emphasize cognitive aspects, arts education is often marginalized, even though art, especially dance, has a major contribution to the formation of personality and the development of students' creative thinking skills and responsible attitudes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of dance education in fostering creativity and discipline in elementary school students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, with data sources coming from books, accredited journal articles, and relevant previous research results. Data analysis was carried out using Miles and Huberman's interactive techniques which include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that dance activities provide a wide space for students to express their ideas and feelings creatively through movement, as well as forming a disciplined attitude through routine practice, group work, and regularity in the performance process. In addition, dance education also contributes to strengthening students' cultural identity and social-emotional abilities. In conclusion, dance arts education plays a significant role in fostering students' creativity and discipline, although it still faces various obstacles such as limited teachers, facilities, and lack of attention to art in the school curriculum.

In Islam, dhikr refers to the practice of remembering Allah. The teachings contained in the Qur'an and hadith provide many benefits, including calming the soul, curing disease, and contemplating death. It is important to note that dhikr is considered sunnah, and therefore, should not conflict with obligatory practices in the religion. At the Raudhatul Ulum Cidahu Pandeglang Islamic Boarding School, it is often routine to recite the dhikr of Asma Badar/Ashlul Qadar, this is a means of remembering Allah and remembering the struggle of Ali Badar who died in the Badr war. Asma Badar itself is written by Abuya K.H Muhammad Dimyati Cidahu Pandeglang. In this article the author is very interested in reviewing more deeply the influence of reciting Asma Badar's dhikr at the Raudhatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. This research uses the living hadith method, namely how people bring the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW to life. Apart from that, the source of the data that the author obtained was from library sources, both knowledge books, journals, articles and other scientific works.  Asma Badar is believed to be able to ward off bad fate, ward off disaster, cure disease and those who carry their names (in written form) will always receive help and gain glory.

This study examines how Javanese culture is represented in the tingkeban ceremony of the second child of celebrity couple Lesti Kejora and Rizky Billar, using a critical discourse analysis approach influenced by the post-structuralist theory of Michel Foucault. The tingkeban tradition, originally a private ritual, has been reconstructed into digital entertainment, focusing on aesthetics, religious narratives, and the ideal image of motherhood. By applying Foucault’s concepts of discourse, power, and subject formation, this article reveals how cultural meanings, gender roles, and celebrity identities are formulated through discursive mechanisms on social media platforms. The findings indicate that the event is not merely a means of cultural preservation, but also a symbolic exercise of power that reinforces social norms and preferred identities, particularly those aligned with the middle-class values. In this context, tradition becomes a contested site for the construction and negotiation of meaning in contemporary discourse.

The tradition of communicating with ancestral spirits remains a spiritual practice upheld by various indigenous communities in Indonesia. This tradition is considered a form of respect toward ancestors who are believed to maintain a spiritual connection with their descendants. This article aims to trace the historical roots and cultural meanings of communication with ancestral spirits and reflect on its implications for the Christian faith. Using a qualitative approach and literature review of spiritual practices among several ethnic groups, it was found that such communication is often rooted in relational values, reverence, and the search for life’s meaning. However, Christian reflection calls believers to distinguish between cultural honor and beliefs that may contradict faith in the living God. This article offers a dialogical and contextual approach to wisely and theologically understand and respond to this phenomenon.

Indonesia as a multicultural country has various traditions that reflect social and spiritual values, one of which is the tingkeban tradition in Javanese culture. This tradition is not only a spiritual ritual for the safety of pregnant women and their fetuses, but also a medium for cultural expression through the symbolism of traditional food. This study aims to identify the terms of traditional food and snacks in the tingkeban ceremony and explore the symbolic and cultural meanings contained therein through an ethnolinguistic approach. The focus of the study was directed at the people of Ketapangkuning Village, Ngusikan District, Jombang Regency, East Java, who still maintain the traditional tingkeban practice. By using an ethnolinguistic approach, this study attempts to trace the relationship between language and culture reflected in the lexicon of traditional food as a representation of the values of harmony, balance, and respect for life in Javanese society.

This tradition is carried out as an expression of gratitude to God Almighty for the blessings received, particularly the natural spring that sustains the village. This study aims to explore the origins, procedures, ritual components (ubarampe), symbolic meanings, functions, transformations, and preservation efforts related to the Ngirim Banyu tradition at Sumber Genitri. The research also seeks to broaden the researcher’s perspective, knowledge, and experience concerning the existence of local traditions. The theoretical framework used in this study includes concepts of folklore, symbolism and meaning, belief systems, cultural functions, cultural change, and cultural preservation strategies.

The Tiatiki tradition in Teluk Depapre, Papua, is not merely an ecological ritual but serves as a cultural communication medium that conveys social and political messages. This study aims to analyze Tiatiki as vernacular media representing environmental conservation while articulating the resistance of indigenous communities against development policies that potentially threaten their customary territories. The research employs a qualitative approach with vernacular discourse analysis methods. Primary data were sourced from a 22-minute-22-second documentary produced by the Balai Pelestarian Nilai Budaya Papua (2020), analyzed through narrative transcription, identification of visual symbols, open coding, axial coding, and theoretical interpretation based on the Two-Step Flow theory and the concept of vernacular media. The findings reveal that the ritual prohibition symbolized by the “kayul larangan” is not merely a sign of marine closure for ecological purposes but also a political statement asserting indigenous territorial claims. Indigenous opinion leaders play a strategic role as cultural communicators and as drivers of subtle resistance against external interventions. These results affirm that local wisdom-based conservation in Papua is not solely ecological but also constitutes a political discourse arena projecting cultural identity and indigenous rights. This study contributes theoretically to cultural communication studies, particularly in analyzing vernacular media as instruments of local political resistance.

This article explains that the transformation of thematic hadith studies in the digital age marks a major shift in the way Muslims access and understand hadith sources. This study aims to outline the changes in the approach of thematic hadith studies from classical tradition to digital practice, as well as to examine the challenges and opportunities that arise from these changes. The study used a qualitative approach with a desk study method, analyzing primary and secondary references that discuss thematic hadith methodology in various periods. The results of the study show that the classical approach emphasizes sanad validity, matan criticism, and strong contextual linkages, while the digital approach is more prominent in aspects of access efficiency and outreach. However, without a strong methodological foundation, digitization is prone to bias and simplification of hadith meanings. Therefore, an integrative approach is needed that combines the scientific rigor of the classical tradition with the convenience offered by modern technology. This study affirms the importance of maintaining the integrity of thematic hadith studies to remain epistemologically sound amidst the accelerating digitalization.

This study examines the implementation of the Sigalovada Sutta as a form of ancestral devotion within the Nyadran Dauwang tradition practiced by the Buddhist community in Depok Hamlet, Java. Grounded in the understanding that religion and culture are deeply intertwined, the research aims to explore how Buddhist doctrinal values are actualized through local communal rituals and how these practices contribute to social cohesion, environmental stewardship, and cultural continuity. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with religious leaders, elders, and community members, and analysis of ritual documentation. Triangulation of methods and sources was applied to enhance the credibility and depth of interpretation. The findings reveal that Nyadran Dauwang consists of four interrelated components: communal cleaning of irrigation canals (Susuk Wangang), ritual journeys accompanied by offerings and food sharing, interfaith prayer gatherings, and Wayang Kulit performances. These practices embody key Buddhist values such as spiritual friendship, loving-kindness, compassion, ethical reciprocity, and collective merit-making, as articulated in the Sigalovada Sutta. The tradition also reinforces respect for ancestors, strengthens intergenerational bonds, promotes ecological awareness, and fosters harmony in a pluralistic religious setting. Rather than functioning as a rigid doctrinal text, the Sigalovada Sutta operates as a living ethical framework that guides communal life through culturally resonant forms. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that Nyadran Dauwang represents a contextualized enactment of Buddhist ethics that integrates religious teachings with local cultural heritage. This integration offers an important model for Buddhist religious education, cultural preservation, and community-based approaches to social and environmental sustainability.
