This article examines Martin Luther's theological thinking on children's faith education as part of Reformation theology. Luther emphasized that the family is a small church (ecclesiola), making parents the first and primary faith educators for children. In his understanding, faith education must begin early, be carried out repeatedly, be realized through example, and be based on the use of the Small Catechism as the primary tool of spiritual education. This paper analyzes the theological and practical aspects of Luther's thought and their relevance to the context of children's education today. This paper aims to explore in depth Martin Luther's theological thinking on children's faith education, his theological background, the principles of faith education according to Luther, and their implications for contemporary Christian education. This research uses a library research method with a theological-historical approach. The primary sources are Martin Luther's writings on education, the family, and the church. Secondary sources include books, journal articles, and contemporary theological analyses of Luther's faith education.

Social media has become an integral part of adolescent life, including that of junior high school students. While it offers benefits in terms of communication and access to information, social media also brings negative impacts on students’ ethical development, such as impolite behavior, the spread of hoaxes, and cyberbullying. This study aims to describe the strategies implemented by SMP Negeri 05 Kota Bengkulu in addressing the negative effects of social media on student ethics. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that the school implements five main strategies: (1) internal policies such as prohibiting the use of mobile phones during class hours, (2) integration of character education into the curriculum, (3) implementation of digital literacy programs, (4) collaboration with parents in monitoring social media use at home, and (5) positive utilization of social media for publishing student work and promoting digital ethics campaigns. These strategies have proven effective in shaping responsible digital behavior and reinforcing students’ ethical values. These findings align with previous studies that emphasize the importance of character education, digital literacy , and school–parent collaboration in fostering students’ digital ethics. Through an educational and preventive approach, school strategies can serve as an effective solution in addressing ethical challenges in the digital era.

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) as an effort to develop the character of third-grade students at SDN Kestalan. Strengthening P5 is an essential component of the Merdeka Curriculum because it functions to shape students’ character holistically through six main dimensions. However, the implementation of P5 in elementary schools still faces several challenges, such as uneven teacher understanding, less structured planning, and diverse student characteristics. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques to obtain in-depth data on teacher practices, integration strategies, obstacles, and the impact of P5 implementation. The results show that teachers have an adequate understanding of the P5 concept and strive to integrate it through interactive lectures, question-and-answer sessions, simple experiments, the habituation of the 5S culture, and creative projects that actively involve students. The obstacles encountered are generally related to discipline issues, emotional immaturity, limited facilities, and suboptimal parental involvement. However, these challenges can be reduced through personal approaches, positive motivation, support from school facilities, and collaboration with parents. The implementation of P5 has been proven to have a positive impact on students’ character development, especially in the aspects of politeness, cooperation, responsibility, and self-confidence. Therefore, the strategic role of teachers and the support of a conducive learning environment are key factors in the success of character strengthening through P5.

The floods that struck Medan City between late November and early December 2025 significantly affected the psychosocial wellbeing of children aged 4–7 years living in evacuation shelters. Children in this developmental stage are highly vulnerable to stress, anxiety, and behavioral changes following disaster exposure. This community service program aimed to implement an Integrated Psychosocial Support Model designed to promote emotional recovery among children and strengthen the capacities of parents and shelter facilitators. The methods included play-based psychosocial activities, safe digital literacy education, parental engagement sessions, and capacity-building for local volunteers. The intervention was conducted at two evacuation shelters in Medan Labuhan and Belawan, involving approximately 220 children. The results demonstrated substantial improvements in adaptive behavior indicators—group participation, ability to follow instructions, positive emotional expression, and peer interaction—with an average increase of 1.25 points. Social transformations also emerged, including the establishment of child-friendly spaces, enhanced supportive parenting practices, and the rise of local leaders within the community. These findings indicate that integrated psychosocial support is an effective approach for post-disaster child recovery and can be replicated in similar humanitarian settings.

The absence of a father or fatherlessness in a family is a serious problem that affects children's social, psychological, and educational development. This condition becomes even more complex when experienced by street children who live in limited economic conditions and lack family support. The purpose of this study is to reveal the social life of street children on Jalan Krakatau Ujung, Medan Deli District, find the factors that cause fatherlessness, and study the consequences. This study is a qualitative study conducted through a descriptive approach. Data were collected through documentation and in-depth interviews with street children, parents, and community leaders. The results of the study show that the factors causing fatherlessness include divorce, abandonment, and the death of the father. Fathers may also migrate or engage in deviant behavior, such as drug abuse. Children without parents have visible impacts in the form of psychological vulnerability, such as loneliness, lack of self-control, and lack of self-confidence; social impacts, such as difficulty socializing, vulnerability to bullying and exploitation; and educational impacts, such as lack of desire to learn and limited access to education. The lives of street children at the traffic light intersection on Jalan Krakatau Ujung show weak family functioning, especially the role of the father, which encourages children to earn their own living from an early age.

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is a strategic effort to improve public health from an early age. Elementary schools are ideal environments to instill PHBS values because children are at a developmental stage where habits are easily shaped. However, observations show that many students still have poor hygiene habits, such as not washing hands properly, consuming unsafe snacks, and neglecting school cleanliness. This PHBS education activity through the School Health Program (UKS) aims to improve students’ knowledge, attitudes, and healthy living practices. The implementation methods include interactive health education, handwashing demonstrations, environmental cleanliness simulations, and classroom cleanliness competitions. The evaluation results show a significant increase in students’ PHBS knowledge from 56% to 92%, accompanied by positive behavioral changes such as regular handwashing and proper waste disposal. This program demonstrates that an educational approach through UKS is effective in fostering clean and healthy living habits among elementary school students. It is expected that similar programs will continue sustainably with the involvement of teachers, health workers, and parents to create a healthy and supportive school environment for children’s growth and development.

Recent declines in student ethics and learning diligence indicate deeper systemic challenges within the contemporary educational ecosystem. This situation prompts critical inquiry into the respective contributions of school governance, teacher practices, and familial environments in shaping student’s learning orientations. This study seeks to identify the principal determinants of learning diligence from the perspectives of teachers, parents, and students, employing a qualitative exploratory–interpretive design. Data were elicited through narrative stimuli intended to provoke reflective and affectively grounded responses, which were subsequently examined using inductive–thematic analysis. The findings demonstrate that structural weaknesses within school systems, particularly ambiguous policy direction, inconsistent institutional regulations, and ineffective evaluative mechanisms—constitute dominant factors undermining student’s motivation and academic discipline. Parental influences also play a substantive role; insufficient parental engagement and inadequate developmental guidance contribute to weakened responsibility and diminished learner commitment. Some students report withdrawing from academic engagement due to unclear expectations and the absence of supportive school conditions. Moreover, perceptions of automatic grade promotion and guaranteed graduation exacerbate motivational decline. Collectively, these findings indicate that learning diligence emerges from a complex interplay between institutional structures, pedagogical practices, family dynamics, and student’s psychosocial conditions. Addressing these issues thus requires coordinated, systemic, and multi-stakeholder intervention.

Stunting is a significant public health problem in Indonesia, especially among toddlers. Stunting can have long-term effects on children's quality of life, including physical growth and cognitive development disorders. The Puuwatu Community Health Center in Kendari City has recorded a high rate of stunting. Therefore, it is important to identify the factors associated with stunting in this area. This study aims to identify factors associated with stunting in toddlers in the working area of the Puuwatu Health Center in Kendari City. This study uses an analytical study design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study consisted of 73 respondents, and sampling was conducted using stratified random sampling taken from each urban village. Data were collected through interviews with parents of toddlers experiencing stunting, as well as measurements of the toddlers' nutritional status. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square statistical test to examine the relationship between the variables studied. This study shows that nutritional intake (p value = 0.002), exclusive breastfeeding (p value = 0.000), and income (p value = 0.439) are related to stunting. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between nutritional intake and exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting, while income is not related to the incidence of stunting in the working area of the Puuwatu Community Health Center.
