Prescription waiting time is a key indicator of pharmacy service quality that directly influences patient satisfaction and hospital efficiency. Data from the Outpatient Pharmacy Installation of Pelabuhan Jakarta Hospital show average waiting times of 30.49 minutes for non-compounded medications and 35.93 minutes for compounded medications. Although these figures are still within national standards, they have not met the hospital’s internal targets, indicating inefficiencies that require systematic improvement. This study aimed to analyze prescription waiting times and identify waste in outpatient pharmacy services using Lean Hospital and Continuous Improvement approaches. A qualitative analytical method with a case study design was applied. Data collection involved participatory observation, in-depth interviews with key informants (head of pharmacy, pharmacists, and technicians), and document review. Analysis utilized Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), identification of Value Added (VA) and Non-Value Added (NVA) activities, bottleneck analysis, fishbone diagram, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).The findings revealed that service processes were dominated by non-value-added activities, especially during prescription receipt, verification, packaging, and dispensing. Major wastes included waiting, motion, and overprocessing. Contributing factors were uneven staff distribution, suboptimal e-prescribing systems, incomplete prescriptions, and lack of standardized procedures. The proposed future state VSM demonstrated potential improvements in reducing waiting time and enhancing service efficiency.

The phenomenon of phubbing and extreme digital content consumption has become a new challenge in public health, especially for Generation Z, who spend up to 10 hours a day on the internet. This study aims to analyze how phubbing behavior and dependency on endurance streaming distort the quality of face-to-face social interaction and its implications for mental health determinants. The research method employed is a literature review with a critical-narrative approach. Data were collected through systematic searching of reputable scientific databases (such as Google Scholar, SINTA, and GARUDA) focusing on publications from 2021 to 2026. The analysis was conducted by synthesizing literature findings integrated with preliminary field observations to validate the phenomenon's relevance in the local context. The results reveal that snubbing others in favor of gadgets is a mechanism to escape the reciprocal emotional burden of real-life communication. Digital spaces are perceived as safer because they offer intimacy without risk, yet they systematically trigger a chronic erosion of social attention and executive dysfunction. From a public health perspective, this condition threatens social capital and community resilience. This study concludes the importance of sociopsychological interventions to restore human connection to prevent chronic emotional isolation in the future.

Malaria remains a major public health challenge in eastern Indonesia, particularly in the remote highland areas Papua, where access to health services is very limited. In early 2008, a suspected malaria outbreak with several deaths was reported in Agisiga District, a remote highland area in Papua. This study aimed to investigate the epidemiological characteristics, diagnostic results, and mortality patterns of the malaria outbreak as a basis for formulating future control strategies. The outbreak investigation was conducted using a cross-sectional design in Agisiga District from January to March 2008. Capillary blood samples were examined using Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) and thin blood smear microscopy. Malaria-related deaths were traced through verbal autopsy methods and interviews with families and community leaders. Descriptive analysis was performed to describe the demographic, clinical, and parasitological characteristics the cases. A total of 92 suspected malaria cases were identified, with the highest proportion coming from Tomosiga Village (52.2%), followed by Bigasiga Village (40.2%) and Agisiga Village (7.6%). Women accounted for 58.7% of all cases, and the most affected age group was 15–35 years (34.8%). Microscopic examination confirmed malaria infection in 55.0% of samples examined, with Plasmodium vivax predominating (45.0%), while the RDT positivity rate was much lower. The malaria outbreak in Agisiga District was characterized by high mortality, delayed diagnosis, and significant gaps in diagnostic capacity, particularly in remote villages. Strengthening the surveillance system, increasing diagnostic capacity, and improving access to timely treatment are crucial steps prevent similar outbreaks and reduce malaria mortality in the Papuan highlands.

The healthcare sector is increasingly confronted with a VUCA environment (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity), requiring hospitals to adopt adaptive, resilient, and innovative strategies. This study aims to systematically review the evidence on smart hospital strategies in responding to uncertainty, particularly in improving service quality, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction. A systematic literature review was conducted using major academic databases, including Scopus-indexed sources, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar, covering publications from 2020 to 2026. Articles were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria focusing on hospital management strategies in dynamic and uncertain environments. A total of 10–15 relevant studies were included and analyzed using thematic synthesis. The findings indicate that key strategies in addressing VUCA challenges include digital transformation (e.g., electronic medical records and telemedicine), adaptive and transformational leadership, agile management approaches, and patient-centered care. Digital technologies significantly improve efficiency and decision-making processes, while agile and adaptive leadership enhances organizational responsiveness and resilience. However, several studies highlight that technological advancement alone is insufficient without integrating humanistic values such as empathy, communication, and trust. In conclusion, the most effective hospital strategies in a VUCA world are those that integrate technological innovation with human-centered care. Hospitals must develop flexible, data-driven, and patient-oriented systems to ensure sustainability and competitiveness in uncertain environments. Future research should focus on longitudinal and experimental designs to strengthen causal evidence and explore the integration of digital systems with humanistic healthcare values.

In the era of globalization, children are exposed to a social environment influenced by external factors such as social media, advertising, and a consumer culture, all of which can promote a materialistic lifestyle. Consequently, financial literacy education has become essential to equip children with the necessary skills to manage their finances effectively. Beginning with a simple understanding of accounting, children can learn fundamental concepts of money management, financial decision-making, and planning. However, many young children still lack access to this vital education. Various learning methods and media, including loose parts, storytelling, and interactive educational tools, can be utilized to foster financial understanding. Additionally, this education promotes important social concepts like sharing, charity, and the responsibility of managing finances to help others. It integrates Islamic principles, emphasizing values such as honesty, justice, transparency, and the avoidance of usury. Through these principles, children are not only taught how to manage their personal finances but also how to contribute to society. By implementing financial literacy education at an early age, we can help children grow into informed, ethical, and responsible leaders in the future. This education is crucial for ensuring they make sound financial choices and contribute positively to their communities.

This study aims to analyze the discretion of family planning counselors in implementing contraceptive policies and the influence of acceptors' socio-demographic characteristics in Demak Regency. Using a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, the study included 89 respondents for quantitative analysis and five key informants for in-depth interviews. The results showed a strong positive correlation between counselor discretion and acceptor socio-demographic characteristics (r = 0.646; p < 0.001), which explained 41.7% of the variance in discretionary practices. Counselors adapted communication strategies based on the age, education, geographic location, and culture of acceptors. Policy implementation faced obstacles in the counselor-community ratio (1:23) and the dominance of short-term contraceptive choices due to socio-cultural influences. Theoretical implications enrich the literature on street-level bureaucracy, while practical implications recommend strengthening counselors' capacity, increasing the ideal ratio, and implementing IEC strategies tailored to local culture. Limitations include a single geographic focus and a cross-sectional design. Future research is suggested to use longitudinal designs and multi-regional comparative studies to explore the dynamics of discretion in different socio-cultural contexts.
