The increasing demand for housing in tropical regions requires building materials that are fast to apply, environmentally friendly, and resilient to extreme climate conditions as well as disaster risks. Conventional interlocking bricks are often chosen for their ease of construction, yet they still face challenges such as moisture and early cracking. This study proposes the innovation of the Hybrid Living Green Brick, a combination of lightweight bricks made from rice husk ash and fly ash waste (FRCB) with a biological layer of cyanobacteria. FRCB improves compressive strength by approximately 30% with the addition of 5% rice husk ash, achieving 65 kg/cm², thereby meeting Class 50 requirements (≥50 kg/cm²) according to SNI-15-2094-2000. The incorporation of 3% cyanobacteria provides an additional though not significant strength improvement, while still within the Class 50 category. It also reduces brick weight by 4.3%, with further optimization potential through cyanobacteria integration, and lowers carbon emissions from the firing process. Cyanobacteria induce the formation of CaCO₃ layers that seal pores, reduce water absorption by an average of 10%, and provide self-healing properties for microcracks. Preliminary observations indicate that FRCB offers stable mechanical performance, while biological activity was observed on the 7th day with the formation of pale-white mineral layers continuing until the 28th day. This hybrid innovation shows potential to support sustainable and disaster-resilient tropical construction by combining the mechanical strength of waste-based materials with the biological durability of cyanobacteria against extreme climates. Despite challenges related to moisture control and production standardization, the Hybrid Living Green Brick concept opens new pathways for developing environmentally friendly construction materials that are more adaptive to disaster-prone tropical conditions.

Digital images often experience noise disturbances that can reduce visual quality and interfere with the image analysis process. One common type of noise is salt and pepper noise, especially in grayscale images, which is characterized by the random appearance of black and white dots. This study applied the Deep Convolutional Autoencoder (DCAE) method with a skip connection mechanism to eliminate salt and pepper noise in grayscale images measuring 256×256 pixels. The dataset used consists of 300 pairs of clean images and noisy images that have gone through the preprocessing stage, including normalization and data augmentation. The model was trained using an Adam optimizer with a Mean Squared Error (MSE) loss function and validated through a train-test split scheme to avoid overfitting. Model performance was evaluated using Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) metrics. The test results showed that the DCAE model with skip connections was able to effectively reduce noise while maintaining the main structure of the image based on the PSNR and SSIM values obtained, and showed better performance than conventional median filters. In addition, the model was successfully implemented into a Streamlit-based application to perform the image denoising process interactively, making it easier for users to experiment and visualize results in real-time.

Banks are financial institutions that play a very important role in the economy and continue to innovate by developing various new forms and services. Spin-offs of Sharia Business Units (UUS) are a new method in the world of Islamic banking with the aim of becoming independent Islamic banks in conducting business activities based on sharia principles. The spin-off of the SBU is one of the main focuses of Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector. Furthermore, referring to the provisions in Financial Services Authority Regulation Number 12 of 2023 concerning Sharia Business Units, conventional banks can carry out banking activities in accordance with sharia principles by being required to open an SBU. This shows that the UUS is a unit that remains part of the conventional bank, and the provisions governing its activities, even though they are carried out by conventional banks, must still follow sharia principles, including prohibiting interest-based transactions. This study shows that spin-offs of UUS have great potential to drive the growth of Islamic banking. A spin-off is a company's decision to restructure, which has various legal implications. Although spin-offs of Islamic banks have the potential to improve the performance of Islamic banking, government policies that require spin-offs without considering the specific context of each bank can hinder the development of this sector. The implementation of mandatory spin-off policies needs to be balanced with more comprehensive government policy support.
