The objective of this study is to examine and compare the financial performance of Islamic banks and conventional banks in Indonesia during the 2019–2023 period. This research is motivated by the rapid growth of the Islamic banking industry; however, its market share remains relatively small compared to conventional banks. The study evaluates various financial ratio indicators, including Return on Assets (ROA), Net Interest Margin (NIM), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), BOPO, Non-Performing Loans (NPL), and Non-Performing Financing (NPF), using a quantitative approach and comparative method. Data were collected from the annual financial reports of several major banks selected through purposive sampling. The results of the analysis indicate that conventional banks generally outperform in terms of profitability and operational efficiency, as reflected in the ROA and BOPO ratios. On the other hand, Islamic banks demonstrate more stable financing quality and liquidity, as indicated by relatively stable NPF and FDR ratios. These performance differences stem from the distinct operational principles of the two banking systems: interest-based operations for conventional banks and profit-sharing principles for Islamic banks. The study concludes that a more comprehensive evaluation method, integrating both sharia compliance and financial elements, is essential to provide a fair and accurate assessment of bank performance. The findings are expected to be valuable for regulators, academics, and industry practitioners in formulating policies that support a more inclusive and sustainable banking system.

This study explores the role of halal certificates in increasing consumer confidence in food industry products in Indonesia. In a Muslim society and a global market that is increasingly aware of religious ethics and values, halal certificates are not only proof of halalness, but also serve as a signal of quality, safety and integrity of the producer. This research uses a qualitative approach through a literature study, by reviewing scientific articles, books, official reports, and relevant documents related to halal and consumer behavior. The results of the analysis show that halal certificates have three main roles: (1) as a credibility signal to reduce information asymmetry between producers and consumers; (2) as an instrument to reduce risk perceptions of ingredients, processes, and production ethics; and (3) as a brand communication medium that builds emotional attachment and social value. Consumers, especially millennials and Gen Z, demand halalness accompanied by transparency and education in the certification process. Halal certificates also strengthen product competitiveness in the global market, reflecting a religious lifestyle while being modern and sustainable. Therefore, industry players need to make halal certification a comprehensive brand strategy, while regulators such as BPJPH must continue to improve the transparency and effectiveness of the system.

The digitalization of healthcare services has emerged as a pivotal catalyst in modernizing Indonesia’s health system, delivering enhanced efficiency, accessibility, and integrated service quality. This study employs a qualitative literature review approach to explore the implementation of digital transformation strategies in hospitals, with a particular emphasis on ethical challenges and patient data security. The findings reveal that the adoption of technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and telemedicine accelerates service delivery and broadens medical outreach, especially in remote areas. Nevertheless, critical issues arise concerning the vulnerability of health data to breaches, misuse, and cyber threats, exacerbated by uneven digital infrastructure and limited technological literacy among healthcare professionals. Proposed strategies include strengthening data protection regulations, improving human resource capacity, and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration to establish a secure and ethical digital healthcare ecosystem. Through comprehensive management of these challenges, healthcare digitalization is expected to expedite the achievement of SDG 3 and bolster public trust in the national health system.

Disinformation in digital elections has emerged as a serious challenge to democracy in Indonesia, particularly when its dissemination involves cross-border actors and platforms. This phenomenon not only diminishes the quality of political participation and public trust in election outcomes, but also poses a threat to the state's information sovereignty. This study aims to identify the dominant forms of disinformation during the 2019 Presidential Election and leading up to the 2024 election, while analyzing their impact on democratic stability and Indonesia’s position in the global context. The findings indicate that political disinformation is systematically spread through social media by networks of domestic buzzers and anonymous accounts suspected to be connected with transnational actors. The consequences include heightened societal polarization, the delegitimization of electoral institutions, and increasing non-military foreign interference in domestic politics. These findings underscore the urgent need for more adaptive national strategies and international cooperation in establishing fair, transparent, and sovereignty-respecting information governance frameworks in democratic states.

Since the lifting of the pandemic status, Indonesia’s aviation industry has experienced significant growth, marked by a rise in both domestic and international passengers. Bali, particularly I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, has emerged as a major destination, with a 22% increase in total passengers between 2023 and 2024. Jeju Air is one of the international airlines that recently launched a route to Bali, making service quality crucial, especially in ground handling activities like the check-in process. This research investigates the impact of check-in counter personnel service quality on the satisfaction of Jeju Air passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. Conducted between May 1st and 30th, the study employed a quantitative method using simple linear regression analysis. Data were collected, analyzed, presented, and concluded systematically. The theoretical framework combines the Servqual model of service quality (Zeithaml et al.) and passenger satisfaction theory by Kotler. Results show a positive influence of service quality on satisfaction, evidenced by a t-value (5.776) exceeding the t-table value (2.425), thus supporting the alternative hypothesis. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.254, indicating that 25.4% of the variation in passenger satisfaction is explained by the quality of check-in counter services.

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Public Internet Program in Tanjungpinang City in supporting digital inclusion. Based on the 2018-2023 Strategic Plan document from the target of 100 points, only 34 public wifi points were realized. The evaluation was carried out using the theory of William N Dunn (2003), using six indicators, namely, effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and accuracy. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation of 12 informants. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the program has been running but not optimal. This can be seen in the effectiveness indicator where the placement of access points is less strategic, because it is located in upper-class housing which generally already has its own internet access, then the network quality is less stable with the bandwidth provided of 20 Mbps through a scramble system where the ideal standard according to the IT perspective is 2 Mbps per user outside watching YouTube. In the efficiency indicator, from 2013-2023 the realization did not reach the target set at the beginning, then the lack of maintenance resulted in 8 internet points not working. The adequacy indicator has not been said to be optimal in meeting needs through value, opportunity, and method adjustment as evidenced by the fact that there is no national standard as a reference in program implementation and unclear location data collection. In the equity indicator, there is a mismatch in infrastructure facilities, small areas have not been reached, and there is 1 location point that is locked. The responsiveness indicator is good, but there is still low participation from the community. Finally, the accuracy indicator is directed towards the community, but the implementation is not in accordance with the needs, and has not reached the initial target.

The implementation of coal mining activities with an open pit system at the end of its activities will leave behind the remains of former mining holes. Control of acid mine water is something that needs to be done during mining activities until the end of the mining process because acid mine water can cause a decrease in the quality of surface water and groundwater and have an impact on the survival of humans and biota that live on land and water. The initial characteristics of water using the floating treatment method of wetland, the pH, TSS, Fe, and Mn values of ex-mining lake water do not meet the quality standards of the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2021. The ability of water hyacinth plants to increase pH for 25 days is quite good with an initial pH value of 4.13 to 7.34. For 25 days, the TSS parameter of water hyacinth plants is also good at reducing TSS levels with an initial value of 6 mg/L to 3 mg/L, the Fe parameter of water hyacinth plants is also good at reducing iron levels with an initial value of 1.06 mg/L to 0.34 mg/L, while the Mn parameter of water hyacinth plants is quite good at reducing manganese levels with an initial value of 1.13 mg/L to 0.32 mg/L.
