Agrarian conflicts related to customary land rights in Indonesia, particularly due to the expansion of oil palm plantations, have become a complex issue that has had a major impact on the social, cultural, and economic lives of indigenous communities. Land conversion carried out without adequate consent from indigenous communities often results in unilateral land acquisition, which triggers prolonged conflict. This article discusses the strategic role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in protecting indigenous peoples' rights through legal assistance, policy advocacy, and mediation. NGOs play a role in strengthening the legal position of indigenous communities, raising awareness of their rights, and bridging communication between indigenous communities, the government, and companies. However, this role faces challenges in the form of limited authority, external pressure, and overlapping agrarian regulations. This article emphasizes the importance of recognizing indigenous peoples' rights, improving regulations, and an inclusive conflict resolution approach so that economic development can proceed without sacrificing the sustainability of indigenous peoples' lives and cultures.

This Industrial Internship (Prakerin) was conducted at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional II, Plantation Unit, and Adolina Palm Oil Mill (PKS). It focused on analyzing the effect of crude palm oil (CPO) thickness in the Continuous Settling Tank (CST) on CPO impurity levels. The issue raised was the persistent variation in impurity levels in CPO, which is suspected to be influenced by the thickness of the oil layer during the collection process. This study aimed to determine the relationship between CPO thickness in the CST and the resulting impurity levels. The method used was CPO sampling at several oil thicknesses (33–46 cm), followed by laboratory impurity analysis using Gooch Crucible Filter filtration and gravimetric calculations. Data were obtained during the period July 4–11, 2025. The results showed that at a thickness of 45–46 cm, the lowest impurity content was 0.01%, while at a thickness of 33 cm, the highest impurity content was 0.04%. At a thickness of 35 cm, the impurity content was 0.03%, and at a thickness of 40 cm, it was 0.02%. This indicates an inverse relationship between CPO layer thickness and impurity content, where the thicker the oil layer, the lower the impurity content. Therefore, it can be concluded that maintaining a minimum oil thickness in the CST tank of ±40 cm is a crucial step in maintaining CPO quality and ensuring it meets industry standards.

Cargo pumps are very important in the unloading process, especially crude palm oil cargo on tankers. In order for the cargo unloading process to run smoothly, a strategy is needed in the use of cargo pumps. This study aims to find out the factors that cause damage to cargo pumps and the strategy of using cargo pumps so that the process of dismantling crude palm oil in MT Koan can run smoothly. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The results showed that cargo pump 1 operated better than cargo pump 2, with 77% of the operating time. Damage to the cargo pump is caused by leaks in the mechanical seal and clogging of dirt. Routine maintenance on cargo pump 1 is more frequent than cargo pump 2. The cargo temperature of crude palm oil is relatively low ranging from 39-40°C and there is a decrease in temperature at one observation point which causes the texture of the cargo to become very thick, thus interfering with the performance of the cargo pump. Based on the results of data analysis of the results of observations and interviews, it can be concluded that the factors that cause damage to cargo pumps at MT Koan are lack of maintenance, low load temperature and performance differences in both cargo pumps.
