This research aims to reinterpret the vision of the Protestant Batak Christian Huria (HKBP) "to be a blessing to the world" from the perspective of diakonia. This research uses a literature method with a qualitative approach through the study of theological literature, history, and church documents. The results of the study show that diakonia is the main entrance to the gospel message in the Land of Batak that brings social, educational, and health transformation to the community. However, in its development, HKBP's diakonic practice tends to be centered on church institutions and has not fully involved the active participation of congregation members. In addition, there is a tendency for service that is charitable without sustainable empowerment. Therefore, it is necessary to reinterpret the vision of HKBP by emphasizing the formation of a diaconal congregation, where all members of the congregation should be equipped and encouraged to be involved in the service of love in the community. Thus, diakonia is not only a program of the church, but a real and transformative practice of living of faith, so that the church truly becomes a blessing to the world. Furthermore, strengthening congregational capacity through contextual theological education and the development of local needs-based ministries is an important strategy in realizing a responsive and inclusive church. This approach is expected to be able to encourage the sustainability of diakonia services which not only has a short-term impact, but also builds independence and community welfare holistically.

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the low participation of Catholic Youth in spiritual activities at St. Mikhael Kotabaru Parish. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design to obtain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon. Research subjects consisted of one Catholic Youth coordinator and six members selected purposively to represent diverse perspectives. Data collection techniques included unstructured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The data were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the low participation of Catholic Youth is influenced by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include low motivation, shyness, lack of self-confidence, unstable physical conditions, and the excessive use of social media, which often distracts youth from engaging in church life. Meanwhile, external factors consist of economic limitations, heavy school and work commitments, insufficient mentoring from religious leaders, negative peer influence, and minimal family support. These challenges collectively contribute to the declining interest and active involvement of Catholic Youth in spiritual activities. This research highlights the urgency of creating innovative spiritual activity programs that are more attractive and relevant to the needs of young people in the current era. In addition, optimizing mentoring and guidance from parish leaders, parents, and peers is crucial to strengthen motivation and a sense of belonging among Catholic Youth. By addressing both internal and external factors simultaneously, the church community can foster a more participative and dynamic youth movement. Therefore, strategic collaboration among religious leaders, families, and the youth themselves is essential in revitalizing Catholic Youth participation in church life.

This study examines Indonesia's national interests in BRICS membership for the national economy in 2023–2024. Indonesia has officially announced its readiness to join BRICS, which emphasizes the principles of free and active participation and a multipolar orientation in the global economy. This study aims to analyze how Indonesia's involvement in economic cooperation forums for developing countries such as BRICS can influence the direction of development and national economic interests, both in terms of opportunities and risks. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach using literature study and interviews. The theories used are Neoliberal Institutionalism, Regional Economic Integration, and National Interest as the basis for explaining Indonesia's involvement in international cooperation. The results show that Indonesia's membership in BRICS has the potential to expand access to development financing through the New Development Bank (NDB), strengthen trade and investment with BRICS member countries, and enhance leading sectors such as the manufacturing industry and agriculture, which have shown significant export increases, especially to BRICS member countries. However, there are risks that must be anticipated, such as the dominance of large countries in BRICS, the potential for new economic dependencies, and geopolitical friction with Western countries. BRICS membership can be an opportunity for Indonesia's national development if managed carefully, selectively, and with a focus on long-term interests.

This study examines the implementation of Fardhu kifayah counseling in Telagah Village, Sei Bingai District, Langkat Regency, focusing on the social and cultural problems and challenges faced by the local community. Telagah Village is known for its rich history, strong traditions, and local wisdom that shape its social life. However, in the practice of handling the deceased, several issues remain, including limited community knowledge, lack of regeneration among younger members, inadequate facilities, and the absence of a designated team responsible for the Fardhu kifayah process. These limitations often lead to dependence on a few individuals who possess the necessary skills, creating sustainability concerns in the long run. Furthermore, cultural aspects such as conservative norms, gender role divisions, and deeply rooted customs influence how the community perceives and accepts Fardhu kifayah counseling. The study highlights that successful implementation requires not only technical guidance but also sensitivity to local values and traditions. Strengthening community participation and fostering collaboration between religious leaders and local authorities are essential to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of Fardhu kifayah education in Telagah Village.

Population growth and lifestyle changes in Indonesia have led to complex waste management issues, negatively impacting social, health, and environmental sustainability aspects. To address this, a sustainable management approach that actively involves community participation is necessary. The concept of a Waste Bank, based on the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), emerges as a strategic, community-based solution. This community service program aims to encourage active community participation in the Waste Bank program in Tanjung Uban Selatan, Bintan Regency, while supporting the realization of a Smart City based on intelligent and participatory environments. The methodology used is a qualitative approach to gain in-depth understanding. Primary data collection was carried out through interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies. Key informants were purposively selected from various stakeholders, including Waste Bank administrators, local government representatives, and community members. The results show that, although initially challenging to increase community participation, the program has had a significant positive impact. It successfully shifted the community's view of waste as a valuable economic resource. Quantitatively, this is reflected in stable income from the sale of high-quality inorganic waste, such as metals and electronic waste. The program also led to strategic innovations, including sustainable education, waste savings incentives, social media use, and the "Dasi Umat" empowerment program. The success of this program, strengthened by awards at the district and national levels, makes it a model for sustainable waste management focused on community empowerment and supporting smart city development.

Prayer (shalat) is the central act of worship in Islam and holds a fundamental role in nurturing the spiritual life of Muslims. However, in practice, challenges often arise within society, particularly regarding the accuracy of recitations, movements, and the cohesiveness of congregational prayer. Thus, the urgency of understanding correct fiqh shalat remains crucial to ensure the quality of worship and strengthen ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood). In response to this need, students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, through the National Community Service Program (KKN) in Surabaya, organized a community engagement activity under the theme of Kemuhammadiyahan, namely a congregational prayer competition involving members of ‘Aisyiyah. The aim of this activity was to internalize Muhammadiyah values, enhance the understanding of fiqh shalat according to Islamic teachings, and foster a spirit of togetherness through an educational and participatory approach. The competition was assessed based on prayer movements, recitations, and group cohesiveness. The results revealed active participation and high enthusiasm from the participants, who not only competed but also learned to improve the quality of their worship. This activity successfully created a positive religious atmosphere, strengthened bonds among community members, and affirmed the role of KKN as a medium of community service that integrates religious education, Islamic propagation (dakwah), and spiritual development rooted in progressive Islamic values.

Mosques play a strategic role as centers of worship and community development at the local level, serving not only as places of worship but also as spaces for non-formal religious education. However, many rural mosques are experiencing declining functionality due to limited facilities, human resources, and a lack of sustainable programs. This condition is evident in the Al-Karomah Mosque in Kalibundar Hamlet, where religious activities have declined due to the lack of sustainability of the Al-Qur'an Education Park (TPA) program. This community service activity aims to revitalize the function of the mosque by strengthening the TPA by emphasizing the instilling of religious moderation values and increasing community participation. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) involving mosque administrators, TPA teachers, community leaders, and parents of students through observation, interviews, and documentation of activities. The program implemented includes improving TPA management, teacher training, developing a simple curriculum based on religious moderation, and reactivating Quran recitation activities and habituating worship. The results of the activity indicate an increase in interest in learning the Quran, strengthening the values of tolerance and togetherness, increasing community participation, and growing awareness of the importance of religious moderation. Thus, revitalizing prayer rooms through strengthening TPA is effective in strengthening religiosity while building social harmony based on religious moderation. The method used in this article is Participatory Action Research (PAR), involving mushola management, TPA teachers, community leaders, and parents of students through field observations, interviews with religious figures, and activity documentation. Program activities include improving TPA management, teacher training, developing a simple curriculum based on religious moderation, and reactivating Qur’anic learning and regular worship activities. The results of the program show: (1) increased interest in learning the Qur'an among children and youth, (2) strengthened values of tolerance, togetherness, and social awareness, (3) growing community participation in religious activities, (4) the role of the mushola as a center of religious moderation at the hamlet level, (5) increased participation of students and community members, (6) rising awareness of the importance of religious moderation, and (7) the reestablishment of Mushola Al-Karomah as a center of community religious activities. Thus, revitalizing the mushola through the TPA has proven effective in strengthening religious values while building social harmony based on religious moderation

This study examines the role of BRICS—an intergovernmental organization consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—in fostering global cooperation and contributing to world economic stability. BRICS was founded as a strategic response to the dominance of Western financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, which have long been criticized for their unequal representation and decision-making processes favoring developed economies. In this context, BRICS provides an alternative financial architecture through the creation of the New Development Bank (NDB) and the Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA), both of which serve as instruments to support development financing and ensure financial security for its members. Grounded in the frameworks of constructivism and soft power diplomacy, BRICS emphasizes the principles of equality, mutual respect, sustainable development, and South-South cooperation. These values are reflected in its policies and initiatives that prioritize inclusivity, fair participation, and collective growth, especially for developing nations often marginalized in the global economic order. By representing more than 40% of the world’s population and contributing approximately 23% of global GDP, BRICS demonstrates its capacity to shape the international system and establish a more balanced distribution of power and resources. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach based on secondary data, which is analyzed narratively to highlight the evolving dynamics of BRICS within the global economy. The findings indicate that BRICS has significant potential to challenge Western economic hegemony, enhance economic solidarity among emerging markets, and provide developing countries with greater opportunities for growth and cooperation. Ultimately, BRICS emerges not only as a counterweight to established global institutions but also as a transformative actor capable of reshaping the trajectory of international economic governance in the future.

Sustainable tourism aims to maximize the potential of travel destinations while maintaining a careful balance between social, economic, and environmental factors, and coastal tourism such as that found at Mutun Beach in Lampung illustrates both the promise and the urgency of this approach. Coastal tourism is one of the fastest-growing segments of the global travel industry, offering visitors natural beauty, recreational activities, and cultural experiences that generate significant income for local economies. In Indonesia, beaches are major attractions that can boost regional development through job creation, small business opportunities, and improved infrastructure. Mutun Beach, a well-known coastal destination on the southern coast of Sumatra, contributes greatly to the Regional Original Income (PAD) of Lampung Province and provides livelihoods for surrounding communities. Yet despite its popularity, the area continues to face persistent problems such as weak administrative management, limited community participation, inadequate facilities, and signs of environmental degradation, all of which threaten its long-term sustainability. This service project therefore focuses on designing a comprehensive plan for sustainable tourism growth at Mutun Beach for the 2025–2030 period. A participatory strategy is employed through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving local government, tourism stakeholders, community members, academics, and potential investors to ensure inclusive decision-making. The resulting five-stage roadmap emphasizes strengthening tourism regulations, constructing eco-friendly infrastructure, empowering residents with training and entrepreneurial opportunities, creating tourism products that highlight environmental and cultural values, and adopting digital marketing to reach broader audiences. Success indicators include increased regional revenue, rising visitor numbers, higher tourist satisfaction, and measurable improvements in coastal environmental health. Implementing this roadmap is urgent because coastal tourism directly supports economic growth, provides steady employment, and safeguards natural resources, ensuring that Mutun Beach remains both competitive and environmentally resilient for generations to come.

Gotong royong, or mutual cooperation, is a deeply rooted local cultural value in Indonesian society that plays a strategic role in strengthening social cohesion and promoting environmental consciousness. This study aims to explore and analyze the function of gotong royong in fostering social solidarity and raising community awareness of environmental sustainability through various communal activities. These activities include neighborhood cleaning, reforestation efforts, and participatory waste management, all of which require active involvement from community members. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research was conducted through field observations and in-depth interviews with residents actively engaged in gotong royong practices. The findings reveal that gotong royong serves as a powerful social mechanism that encourages a sense of togetherness, mutual aid, and shared responsibility among community members. These interactions help to solidify social bonds and create a collective spirit that is vital for social resilience. In addition to reinforcing social relationships, the practice of gotong royong significantly contributes to enhancing environmental awareness. Communities become more proactive in maintaining cleanliness, preserving green spaces, planting trees, and managing waste sustainably. The study concludes that gotong royong is not merely a traditional cultural practice, but also an effective and relevant instrument for promoting social and environmental well-being in contemporary society. Its continued integration into community development programs could further strengthen both social solidarity and environmental stewardship, making it a vital component in sustainable development initiatives. Therefore, revitalizing and institutionalizing gotong royong is essential for fostering holistic and inclusive community growth.

The Mosque Youth Organization (REMAS) plays an important and strategic role as an agent of social and religious change among the younger generation. This study aims to improve the governance of the Mosque Youth Organization in Blitar City to be more professional and Islamic through the synergy of public administration and Islamic values. The main problems faced include a lack of coordination with the mosque administrators, a lack of effective leadership, and low community participation, which are influenced by internal factors such as the busyness of members and external factors such as limited funds and facilities. The method used is a participatory approach through needs analysis with 20 REMAS and mosque administrators, followed by training on professional Islamic governance, management skills, and evaluation assistance for its implementation. The training was held at the Al Mugi Barokah Mosque in Blitar City in September 2025, in collaboration with the Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Agency (BKPRMI) as a stakeholder. The results of the community service showed significant improvements, namely the formation of a clear organizational structure, community-based work programs such as skills training and innovative social activities, and effective coordination with mosque administrators through regular forums to increase community participation. This approach integrates good governance principles such as transparency, accountability, and documentation using Trello or Google Sheets with Islamic values such as deliberation, trustworthiness, benevolence, and the example set by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. These activities contribute to sustainable social transformation among mosque youth, strengthening their role as agents of socio-religious change, although challenges such as limited resources, internal conflicts, and slow technological adaptation still need to be addressed through regular monitoring and further technological integration.

This study discusses the implementation of the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW) in Pematang Guntung Village as an effort to strengthen religious values and foster togetherness within the community. The commemoration of the Prophet’s birthday is a long-standing Islamic tradition carried out as a form of respect and love for the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The objectives of this study are to celebrate the Islamic holy day of Maulid Nabi, cultivate the love of the people for the Prophet, develop the potential of the younger generation in the field of religion, and strengthen Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah islamiyah) among villagers. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed in depth to describe how the Maulid event was conducted and its impact on the community. The findings revealed that the commemoration of the Prophet’s birthday brought significant positive effects. In addition to increasing understanding and practice of Islamic teachings, this activity also strengthened social bonds, encouraged youth participation, and raised collective awareness of the importance of preserving religious traditions. Furthermore, the event served as an effective medium to foster ukhuwah islamiyah, a spirit of togetherness, cooperation, and tolerance among community members. The Maulid tradition also functioned as an informal educational medium that instilled noble values, promoted the Prophet’s exemplary character, and reinforced moral development. Thus, the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday in Pematang Guntung Village was not only a religious tradition but also an instrument of education, character building, and social cohesion that reinforced unity and harmony within the community.

Household waste management, especially organic waste, remains a major problem in many regions, including Pematang Guntung Village, Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. Improperly managed organic waste has the potential to cause unpleasant odors, environmental pollution, and become a source of disease. Therefore, an appropriate and environmentally friendly solution is needed to overcome this issue. This study aims to examine how the application of the biopore method can serve as a strategy to create a cleaner environment while simultaneously improving soil fertility. The research method used was qualitative, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively to illustrate the implementation of biopores in the community. The results showed that the application of biopores was able to significantly reduce the volume of household organic waste. Organic waste placed into biopore holes naturally decomposed into compost, which is beneficial as an environmentally friendly fertilizer. In addition, biopores improved soil water absorption capacity, which helps reduce waterlogging during the rainy season and maintain soil moisture. From a social perspective, biopores encouraged the development of new awareness among community members regarding the importance of waste management. This was demonstrated by the active participation of residents in creating, utilizing, and maintaining biopore holes sustainably. Thus, biopores function not only as a technical solution for organic waste management but also as an environmental education tool that strengthens community collaboration in maintaining cleanliness and enhancing soil fertility in their area.
