This study aims to analyze the implementation of sanctions against wealthy customers who delay payments in the perspective of DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 17/DSN-MUI/IX/2000. The study was conducted at PT. BPRS Alwashliyah Gunung Krakatau Medan with a normative and empirical legal approach. The results of the study indicate that the application of sanctions against customers who delay payments is an effort by banks to maintain the smoothness of the financing system. The application of the DSN-MUI fatwa provides a legal basis for Islamic banks in imposing sanctions on wealthy customers who neglect to fulfill their obligations. This fatwa also strengthens the position of banks in the Indonesian civil law system.

This paper focuses on the legal thought of Imam Malik bin Anas through a social historical approach. This study represents a relatively new area in Islamic legal scholarship, and therefore, it has garnered limited attention from academics. Imam Malik is one of the four imams of the Sunni schools of thought, known as ahlu hadits. Throughout his life, he never left the city of Madinah except for the pilgrimage to Mecca. His residence in Madinah, the place where the Prophet lived, greatly supported his ability to address various legal issues, most of which could be resolved through hadith. The environment of Madinah, characterized by relatively simple social problems, also influenced Imam Malik's approach. Although he is recognized as ahlu hadits, he was nonetheless affected by the use of reason in ijtihad due to the social conditions of his time. This is evidenced by his application of principles such as the practices of the people of Madinah (Amal ahli Madinah), the fatwas of the companions (sahabat), qiyas (analogical reasoning), al-maslahah mursalah (public interest), az-zari'ah (preventive measures), and al-'urf (custom) in deriving Islamic law. Like other schools of thought, Imam Malik regarded the Qur'an and hadith as primary sources in legal decision-making.

Freedom of the press is a fundamental part of a democratic system, including in Indonesia. However, in a society that is predominantly Muslim, there are challenges in balancing freedom of the press with Islamic values. One form of Islamic influence on the world of journalism in Indonesia is the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) on Islamic journalism. This study aims to analyze how the fatwa regulates journalistic practices, the extent of its influence on press freedom, and the challenges that arise in its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a document analysis method, including a study of the MUI fatwa, press regulations in Indonesia, and related literature. The results of the study show that the MUI fatwa emphasizes the principles of honesty, moral responsibility, and compliance with Islamic teachings in journalistic practice. This fatwa encourages Muslim journalists to present news that is not only accurate but also in accordance with religious norms. Although it does not have binding legal force, this fatwa still has a major influence, especially for Islamic-based media and Muslim journalists. However, this study also found the potential for conflict between the principle of press freedom which prioritizes independence and the principle of Islamic journalism which demands limitations according to religious norms. Therefore, dialogue is needed between stakeholders, such as the MUI, the press, and the government, in order to find a balance between press freedom and Islamic values in journalistic practices in Indonesia.

During the time of Rasulullah SAW, Muslims did not need certain rules in understanding sharia law. After the spread of Futuhat Islamiyah, Arab Muslims interacted a lot with other nations who had different languages. On the other hand, the need for ijtihad is very urgent, because there are many new problems that have never occurred before and require clarity in fiqh law. So two large madrasahs emerged that reflected their ijtihad method - the Ahlir-ra'yi Madrasah used more qiyas (analogies) to generate heated debates, thus making the ulama feel the need to create written regulations that were recorded as common law in uniting these two madrasas. The hadith about being more careful in giving fatwas and qiyas gave rise to heated debate, making the ulama feel the need to make written rules which were recorded as joint laws in uniting the two madrasas. Imam Syafi'i was the first person to write a book about ushul fiqh-Imam Syafii was a great mufti of the Muslim community who was also the founder of the Syafi'i school, developing his school in Baghdad. Ushul fiqh is the postulates of fiqh which are global in nature - The object of the discussion is to study the postulates which are still of a general nature seen from their general legal provisions and the ultimate aim of studying them is to protect the Islamic religion from deviations and misuse of the postulates of the Shari'a, so that misleading carelessness does not occur.

This study discusses the practice of gold pawn in Islamic Pawnshops from the perspective of Islamic economics, focusing on the validity of the contract and the determination of ujrah (storage fees). The gold pawn product in Islamic Pawnshops involves three contracts: qardh (loan), rahn (collateral), and ijarah (storage fees). The combination of these contracts is often debated, as it is considered a hybrid contract prohibited under certain standards, such as AAOIFI. The research findings indicate that these contracts are carried out separately and in accordance with Sharia principles, making them valid. The determination of ujrah, according to the Fatwa of DSN-MUI, should be based on storage costs, not the loan amount. However, in practice, ujrah is often calculated based on the loan value, which could lead to unfairness. The results of this study show that the gold pawn practice in Islamic Pawnshops generally complies with Sharia principles, although improvements in transparency and the determination of ujrah fees are necessary. Recommendations are provided to enhance education and refine the contract mechanism to better align with Sharia.

The prolonged conflict between Israel and Palestine has caused suffering on both sides, even extending to the global level. As a humanitarian response, various countries including Indonesia have boycotted products affiliated with Israel. The boycott movement is a form of protest carried out collectively by the community to oppose certain actions, products, or policies that are considered detrimental. This research uses a normative juridical approach, by analyzing regulations such as MUI Fatwa No. 83 of 2023. The results show that the boycott of pro-Israel products has a significant social impact. Positively, it encourages the growth of local products and provides moral support for Palestine. However, there are negative impacts, such as a potential increase in unemployment due to a decrease in the activities of companies affiliated with Israel. The boycott movement also serves as humanitarian solidarity and a symbol of resistance to occupation, although it needs management to reduce the negative impact on domestic labor. The public is urged to support the boycott strategically with an eye on national employment. This step is part of the global struggle for Palestinian justice and independence.

The Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) holds a pivotal role in ensuring Islamic financial institutions operate in full compliance with Sharia principles. Its responsibilities include issuing fatwas, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring the integrity of financial products and services offered by these institutions. The SSB’s role is critical in maintaining public trust and aligning financial practices with Islamic values. However, significant challenges arise, such as the increasing complexity of financial instruments, rapid technological advancements, and varying interpretations of Sharia principles across jurisdictions. Moreover, public awareness of Islamic finance remains low, and the risk of conflicts of interest in SSB oversight persists. To overcome these challenges, the SSB must strengthen its expertise through continuous education, collaborate with scholars and regulators, and actively engage in public literacy initiatives. Harmonization of Sharia standards at a global level is also essential to navigate the interconnected nature of modern finance. The SSB’s success in addressing these challenges ensures the sustainability of Islamic financial systems while fostering ethical and equitable economic growth.

Financial technology (fintech) services in Indonesia are growing rapidly, including sharia fintech that operates based on sharia principles. DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 117/DSN-MUI/IX/2018 is the operational basis for sharia fintech, although the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has not fully integrated it into binding regulations. This study examines sharia compliance in sharia fintech services using library research methods. The results of the study indicate that although sharia fintech has grown, stronger legal instruments are needed so that sharia compliance is implemented comprehensively. The role of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) is very important in ensuring that sharia principles are implemented. However, supervision and legal protection for sharia fintech consumers are still minimal. Therefore, special regulations and strengthening of the DPS function are needed to ensure that sharia fintech truly complies with Islamic legal principles, maintains the existence of fintech, and increases consumer trust.
