This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of affective audio consisting of music and emotional narration on emotional changes among junior high school students at Al-Andalusia Orphanage Foundation, Pela Mampang. Adolescence is a developmental period characterized by emotional fluctuations influenced by academic, social, and environmental demands, highlighting the need for simple and accessible emotional regulation interventions. This research employed a quasi-experimental method using a pretest–posttest control group design. A total of 30 junior high school students participated in the study and were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 15) and a control group (n = 15). The experimental group received affective audio exposure for 5–7 minutes, while the control group did not receive any treatment. Emotional states were measured using the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), which assesses positive and negative affect. Data were analyzed using a paired samples t-test. The results indicated a decrease in emotional scores in the experimental group after the intervention; however, the difference was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Nevertheless, the effect size for the experimental group was in the moderate range, suggesting a meaningful practical effect of affective audio on students’ emotional states. These findings indicate that affective audio has potential as a light emotional intervention, although future studies with stronger methodological designs are recommended.

Indonesia is a diverse nation with a wide range of religions, ethnicities, cultures, languages, and traditions spread across its vast territory from Sabang to Merauke. This diversity, on the one hand, serves as a strength of the nation, yet on the other hand, it also carries the potential for conflict if not managed properly through the practice of tolerance. Students, as agents of change, hold a strategic role in maintaining harmony and peace, both within campus environments and in society at large. This study aims to analyze the implementation of tolerance values among university students in order to achieve peace in a plural society. The research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, analyzing relevant literature on tolerance, students, and social peace. The findings reveal that students’ tolerance can be manifested in academic settings, organizational activities, social interactions, and religious practices. However, its implementation faces challenges such as intolerance, radicalism, identity politics, and the misuse of social media. Strengthening tolerance values can be carried out through multicultural education, character building, and student engagement in cross-cultural and interfaith organizations. Thus, students are not only academic individuals but also moral, social, and intellectual role models who can serve as key drivers in fostering peace and harmony within Indonesia’s diverse society.

This study examines the dynamics of personal adjustment in Quranic memorization students using a mixed methods approach, combining quantitative field analysis as primary data and meta-analysis as secondary data. The field study involved 515 students from two Indonesian Islamic boarding schools: Pesantren Tahfizh Daarul Qur'an and Yayasan Islamic Centre Sumatera Utara. The meta-analysis included 30 studies (N = 4,827) from international databases. The quantitative analysis showed a high level of personal adjustment among students (M = 3.66, SD = 0.52), with the highest score on acting objectively according to one's conditions and potential (M = 3.85, SD = 0.48). Regression analysis revealed that self-acceptance significantly predicted overall personal adjustment (β = 0.42, p < .001). The meta-analysis confirmed a positive relationship between self-acceptance and personal adjustment (r = 0.53, 95% CI [0.47, 0.59]). Moderator analysis indicated a stronger effect for female students (r = 0.58) than males (r = 0.49). These findings extend the research of Ahmad et al. (2022) and Rahma (2023) by identifying unique factors influencing personal adjustment of Quranic memorization students, such as memorization intensity (β = 0.31, p < .01) and social support in Quranic boarding schools (β = 0.28, p < .01). Additionally, the integration of primary and secondary data provides a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of personal adjustment in Quranic memorization students, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based interventions to enhance the psychological well-being of these students.

Real Work Lecture (KKN) is a community service program by students that aims to empower the community with a cross-disciplinary and sectoral approach. The KKN program in Telaga Jernih Village, Secanggang District, Langkat Regency, aims to overcome the problem of monotonous hereditary livelihoods and open up new business opportunities through economic empowerment and entrepreneurship. Before the program was implemented, most villagers relied on the agricultural sector, especially oil palm and rice, which made the village economy vulnerable to price fluctuations and environmental conditions. This program focused on socialization about livelihood diversification, entrepreneurial skills training, and reducing plastic waste by converting it into products with economic value. Through this training, the community was invited to see local potential that could be developed into new business opportunities. The results of the implementation of this KKN showed an increase in community understanding of the importance of business diversification and the application of skills acquired in starting small businesses in the fields of agricultural processing and plastic waste recycling. Several residents have started new businesses supported by the skills taught during the training. However, several challenges such as low digital literacy and limited access to capital are still obstacles to business development. Therefore, a follow-up program is needed that focuses on developing digital skills and access to capital to support the sustainability of the business that has been pioneered. Overall, this KKN program has succeeded in providing a positive impact on the Telaga Jernih Village community and can be a model for local potential-based economic empowerment in other villages.
