Code-switching and code-mixing are linguistic phenomena that reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of Indonesian society, particularly within literary works. This study aims to analyze how elements of the Javanese language are employed through these phenomena in the novel Soedirman dan Alfiyah by E. Rokajat Asura. Using a literature review method, the study examines relevant theories and previous research on the use of regional languages, specifically Javanese, in literature. The findings reveal that both code-switching and code-mixing enrich character expression, serve as markers of cultural identity, convey emotional depth, and enhance the social messages embedded in the narrative. Visual markers such as italicized text are utilized to distinguish linguistic shifts, although inconsistencies in their application are noted. This research highlights the importance of preserving regional languages in literary works and emphasizes the need for consistent typographical presentation to improve readability and linguistic awareness among readers.

Urban street art has become a significant visual medium reflecting identity, resistance, and cultural memory within Southeast Asian cities. This study explores how street art in urban environments such as Jakarta, Bangkok, and Manila serves as a visual narrative, embedding local symbolism and identity expression into public space. The objective is to analyze how visual elements in street art communicate social, cultural, and political messages. A qualitative method is employed, utilizing visual semiotics and ethnographic observation to examine selected murals and graffiti. The findings reveal that recurring motifs, such as traditional symbols, mythological figures, and vernacular language, function as tools of cultural assertion and urban storytelling. These visual narratives not only document community histories but also challenge dominant urban narratives, reclaiming marginalized voices. The study highlights the role of street artists as agents of social commentary and urban transformation. Implications suggest that recognizing street art as a form of visual narrative contributes to a broader understanding of cultural identity construction in urban Southeast Asia.

This research analyzes the aesthetic values and symbolic meanings of The Siborang Struggle Monument in Padang Sidempuan City. It aims to raise awareness among people who pass by the monument about the importance of remembering the services of heroes who fought tirelessly to defend Indonesia’s independence. The purpose of this research is to describe the aesthetic values based on Monroe Beardsley’s aesthetic theory and to uncover the symbolic meanings according to Langer’s symbol theory, as represented in The Siborang Struggle Monument. The research method employed is qualitative with a descriptive approach, using data collected through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The results show that The Siborang Struggle Monument holds significant aesthetic value through its unique local architectural form and conveys a strong symbolic meaning as a representation of bravery and sacrifice. This is reflected in the statue’s facial expression, which depicts a passionate fighting spirit while carrying war tools such as a sharpened bamboo spear with a flag, Molotov cocktails, and firearms, along with elegant color choices that carry implicit meanings. The study concludes that the monument not only serves as a commemorative structure but also stands as a symbol of national identity and pride. This research is expected to foster a spirit of patriotism and resilience in the younger generation and can serve as a reference for future studies on related topics.

Since the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) at the end of 2015, all economic actors—including SMEs and microenterprises—are expected to improve and adapt in order to enhance the quality of both goods and services. Failure to do so may result in Indonesia becoming a "soft target" market for other ASEAN countries, given its status as the most populous country in the region with over 270 million people. SMEs and microenterprises, which represent the embodiment of people-based economic democracy, would be particularly vulnerable if goods and services from various ASEAN countries continue to flood the Indonesian market. Recognizing this situation, empowering SMEs and microenterprises is not only necessary but inevitable to help the nation discover its identity through the development of comparative and competitive advantages. This activity began by identifying existing problems, followed by determining suitable solutions. The method used involves training and mentoring. The outcome of this initiative is the improved capability of the traditional cake microenterprise to optimize its sales by using locally sourced raw materials. As a result, the "Puji Lestari" Traditional Cake Microenterprise has successfully enhanced its production capacity and business management.Financial reporting is also a crucial aspect of business development. A well-maintained financial report reflects the progress of the business, particularly through the net profits it generates. These outcomes serve as indicators of increased empowerment and the strengthening of the enterprise.

This study examines interfaith marriage and its impact on family economic rights from the perspectives of Islamic law and positive law in Indonesia, with a case focus on Sumedang Regency. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research involved semi-structured interviews with both traditional and modern Islamic scholars, along with an analysis of religious texts and statutory regulations. The findings reveal that the majority of scholars reject interfaith marriage based on Sharia principles and Article 2(1) of Law No. 1 of 1974 on Marriage. Nevertheless, some couples pursue such unions through administrative religious conversion or overseas ceremonies to obtain legal recognition. These practices often result in legal ambiguity regarding economic rights within the family—such as inheritance, joint property, and financial support—and may lead to familial disputes. Additional social consequences include identity confusion among children, community stigma, and potential conflicts within extended families. The study underscores the strategic role of institutions like Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in providing legal education and advocates the need for a responsive civil registration mechanism that acknowledges interfaith marriages while respecting Islamic legal principles. A contextual approach is proposed to bridge the tension between religious norms, legal certainty, and the protection of family economic rights.

This study aims to describe the reasons and experiences of Indonesian youth who choose to work abroad as a response to domestic employment conditions. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, four key informants who have worked abroad for two years were interviewed online. The results show that young people experience obstacles in obtaining decent work, such as a non-transparent recruitment system, the dominance of nepotism practices, low professional recognition, and limited space for development. The decision to work abroad is a form of resistance to an unfair social system, as well as an effort to build a better identity and future. These findings are analyzed using Ulrich Beck's risk society theory, which explains that individuals in the modern era face social risks due to the failure of the modernization system. This study recommends the need for reform of the employment system in Indonesia to be fairer, more inclusive, and pro-young generation.

This article aims to examine the identity formation of youth working as online ojek drivers in the context of political-economic risks that arise in digital platforms, using Ulrich Beck's Risk Society Theory. In the risk society, uncertainty and dependence on systems controlled by digital platforms are the main factors that shape the social identity of the drivers. This research finds that the identity of online ojek youth is formed through interactions with digital platforms that prioritize efficiency and profitability, as well as with the risks they face every day in working under systemic uncertainty.

The phenomenon of religious hijrah (spiritual migration) among Generation Z (Gen Z) has emerged as a noteworthy social trend in recent years. This study aims to explore the religious tendencies of Gen Z through a phenomenological approach, focusing on two prominent currents of Islamic preaching: Sufism and Salafism. Employing a qualitative method, in-depth interviews were conducted with selected Gen Z individuals actively engaged in Sufi- and Salafi-oriented preaching communities. The findings reveal that their choice of religious orientation is not solely influenced by theological aspects, but also shaped by social, psychological, and personal spiritual factors. Sufism tends to appeal to those seeking inner peace and spiritual experience, while Salafism attracts individuals who yearn for religious certainty and a firm Islamic identity. These results reflect the complex and diverse nature of Gen Z’s religiosity, emphasizing the need for contextual and humanistic preaching strategies. This study hopes to contribute to a deeper understanding of young Muslims' religious patterns and the development of more relevant da'wah approaches in the digital age.

This study aims to examine how the tradition of manaqib contributes to the actualization of the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) within the society of Majalengka. As a cultural-religious heritage of Islam Nusantara, manaqib is not merely seen as a spiritual ritual, but also as a vital medium for instilling Islamic values that emphasize moderation (tawassuth), tolerance (tasamuh), balance (tawazun), and justice (i’tidal). Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literature review method, this study draws on various academic sources and journal articles. The findings reveal that manaqib plays a strategic role in shaping the spiritual character of society, strengthening traditional religious identity, and preserving social cohesion and harmony. However, the tradition faces significant challenges in the modern era, such as the rise of puritan movements and shifting societal lifestyles. Therefore, revitalization efforts through contextual approaches and the use of digital media are crucial to ensure the continued relevance and transmission of Aswaja values to future generations.

This study examines the concept of Islamic moral education according to Habib Umar Bin Hafidz and Habib Ali Al-Jufri, the methods of instilling moral values that they use, and the relevance of their thoughts in the context of today's education. Moral education currently faces various complex challenges, such as weak role models, less applicable approaches, and the negative influence of technological advances and social media that trigger moral dilemmas among the younger generation. The lack of integration of moral values in daily practice and the identity crisis due to globalization are also problems that hinder the formation of noble characters. The study used a qualitative approach with library research, collecting data from primary and secondary sources, then analyzed descriptively. The results of the study show that Habib Umar places love for Allah and the Messenger as the core of moral values, with educational methods that prioritize role models and gentleness without coercion, relevant to forming character and spirituality in the modern era. Meanwhile, Habib Ali emphasizes humanitarian values such as compassion and tolerance as the foundation of moral education, with a moderate and inclusive approach that suits the needs of contemporary education. Both approaches provide important solutions in dealing with the problems of moral education, especially in building strong spiritual and social character amidst the dynamics of modern life, while also offering a foothold for overcoming the moral challenges faced by today's students.

This study investigates the linguistic expression mendokusai as used by the character Nagi Seishirou in the anime Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, examining how this phrase reflects his personal attitude and patterns of social behavior. Mendokusai, commonly found in Japanese youth language, conveys meanings such as “bothersome,” “annoying,” or “too much trouble,” and is often associated with a passive or indifferent tone. Adopting a pragmatics and sociolinguistics framework, this research analyzes the function of the expression within the character’s dialogue and its role in shaping Nagi’s identity as a so-called “lazy genius.” Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the study closely examines selected scenes in which Nagi uses mendokusai across different social and emotional contexts. The findings suggest that Nagi’s repeated use of the phrase is not merely habitual but a deliberate linguistic strategy that highlights his aversion to social expectations, preference for simplicity, and effortless self-assurance. This research demonstrates how the recurrence of a single expression can serve as a significant marker of character identity and behavior, especially in contemporary portrayals of Japanese youth.
