This study aims to analyze the concept of social welfare in the thought of Al-Farabi and its relevance to economic development. Al-Farabi explains that the main goal of social life is to achieve happiness (al-sa‘ādah), which is not only related to material welfare but also includes moral, intellectual, and spiritual values. This research uses a qualitative method with a library research approach by analyzing the works of Al-Farabi and various relevant scientific literatures. The results show that the concept of social welfare according to Al-Farabi is based on four main principles: social happiness, social justice, community cooperation, and the role of morality and education. These principles indicate that social welfare is not only dependent on economic aspects but also on ethical values, wise leadership, and social cooperation within society. Furthermore, Al-Farabi’s thought is also relevant to modern economic development, particularly in terms of distributive justice, moral-based development, and the role of the state in achieving public welfare.

The phenomenon of digital da'wah has significantly transformed the ways religious knowledge is accessed, interpreted, and disseminated in contemporary society. This study aims to analyze the patterns of actions and perceptions of TikTok and YouTube users toward religious content delivered by Gus Baha within the context of the digital religious space. Using Max Weber’s theory of rationalization as an analytical framework, this research explores how religious authority, knowledge transmission, and user interpretation undergo processes of rationalization on digital platforms. This study employs a qualitative approach using virtual ethnography, content analysis, and in-depth interviews with users of both platforms. Data were collected through observation of uploaded content, analysis of user interactions and comments, and examination of engagement dynamics. The findings indicate that user responses to Gus Baha’s content reflect Weber’s four types of social action. Instrumentally rational actions are evident in the use of short videos as practical and efficient learning tools. Value-oriented rational actions appear in users’ consistent efforts to deepen religious understanding. Affective actions emerge from emotional attachment to Gus Baha’s communicative style, while traditional actions are reflected in the perception of digital da'wah as a continuation of established religious learning traditions. Furthermore, digital rationalization through algorithms, short-video formats, and platform accessibility, shapes how religious knowledge is selected, interpreted, and circulated. This study concludes that digital religious spaces function not only as channels of dissemination but also as arenas for the transformation of religious authority, meaning construction, and religious practice in the digital era.

Waste-related issues have become increasingly complex environmental challenges as a result of population growth and shifting consumption patterns within society. Although Indonesia has established a legal framework through Law Number 18 of 2008 on Waste Management, its implementation at the community level continues to encounter various obstacles, particularly low legal awareness and an underdeveloped legal culture. This community service program aims to foster and strengthen a legal culture in waste management as an effort to promote environmental sustainability in Mrutuk Village, Widang District, Tuban Regency. The activities were conducted using participatory and descriptive approaches, including legal education, dissemination of waste management regulations, reinforcement of legal substance and enforcement structures, and community-based assistance. The results demonstrate an improvement in public understanding and awareness of the importance of managing waste in accordance with legal provisions, a shift in attitudes from compliance motivated by supervision toward voluntary compliance, and the emergence of community initiatives to actively engage in environmentally oriented waste management. Therefore, strengthening legal culture has proven to be a crucial instrument in encouraging environmentally responsible behavior and supporting the achievement of sustainable development.

The history of the growth and development of schools of thought is an important part of comparative fiqh studies because it describes the dynamics of Islamic legal thought from the time of the companions to the period of codification of schools of thought. This study is motivated by the importance of understanding the historical process of the birth of schools of fiqh as an effort to place differences of opinion in a proportional and scientific manner. This study aims to analyze the growth and development of schools of thought in Islamic law and the factors that influence them. The method used is library research by examining various classical and contemporary literature relevant to the study theme. The results of the study show that major schools of thought such as Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali developed through a process of ijtihad influenced by social, cultural, political conditions, and differences in the methodology of istinbāṭ law. This development does not indicate division, but rather enriches the treasury of Islamic law and provides flexibility in responding to the issues of the ummah in various contexts. The implication of this study is the importance of historical understanding in comparative fiqh studies in order to build a tolerant attitude towards ikhtilaf and strengthen the relevance of Islamic law in facing the dynamics of modern society.

Diversity is an inherent aspect of social life, particularly in a multicultural society like Indonesia, which comprises various ethnicities, races, cultures, and religions. Differences in belief should not lead to conflict but instead foster mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. Islam, as a religion of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a blessing for all creation), upholds tolerance as a fundamental social value. However, the Qur'an outlines certain limits to ensure tolerance does not compromise core principles of faith. This study aims to explore the concept and boundaries of religious tolerance from the perspectives of three prominent Nusantara exegetes: Shaikh Nawawi al-Bantani, Muhammad Hasbi al-Shiddieqy, and Buya Hamka, while identifying similarities and differences in their views. Using a library research method with a comparative descriptive analysis, the study examines their interpretations. The findings reveal that all three scholars share a consistent understanding of tolerance as an attitude of mutual respect, understanding, and acceptance of differences to achieve a peaceful and harmonious society. Nevertheless, they differ in defining its limits. Nawawi al-Bantani includes aspects of faith and politics, Hasbi emphasizes moral-based social interactions, and Hamka confines tolerance to social relations not related to faith.

The policy of increasing fuel prices is a strategic public policy that has broad implications for the lives of people in Indonesia. Fuel plays an important role in supporting economic activity, distribution of goods, and social mobility. This article aims to analyze the impact of the fuel price increase policy on public interests by emphasizing the current context in Indonesia and the empirical realities that arise in society. This study uses a qualitative approach through literature review and policy analysis. The results of the study show that the increase in fuel prices has a direct impact on the increase in the cost of living, a decline in people's purchasing power, and the emergence of social pressure, especially among low-income groups. Although the government views this policy as a rational step to maintain fiscal stability and the sustainability of energy subsidies, compensation and social protection policies remain key factors in ensuring that the public interest and the goal of community welfare are maintained.

This study aims to analyze the evolution of Islamic civilization within the cultural landscape of Southeast Asia through a comparative study between Indonesia and Patani, Thailand. The research employs a qualitative approach with a comparative case study design based on literature review, examining the historical, social, cultural, and political developments of both regions. The findings reveal that the development of Islamic civilization in Indonesia occurred through an inclusive and adaptive process of cultural acculturation. Islamic values were integrated with local traditions, creating a moderate and harmonious religious pattern within society. In contrast, the development of Islam in Patani took place under conditions of political marginalization and state pressure, which fostered cultural resistance and strengthened the religious identity of the Malay Muslim community. These differences indicate that socio-political structures play a significant role in shaping the dynamics of Islamic civilization. The study confirms that Islam as a civilization is flexible and adaptable to different cultural environments; however, the form of adaptation is strongly influenced by power relations, social conditions, and local political contexts. This research is expected to enrich the study of Islamic civilization in Southeast Asia through a comparative approach that integrates cultural and political dimensions more comprehensively.

William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet portrays deep reflections on human nature and moral values, emphasizing the importance of dignity, freedom, and emotional connection in human life. The tragedy explores the conflict between personal feelings and social constraints, revealing how human ideals often clash with rigid traditions and authority. Through the struggles of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare presents the essence of humanity love, empathy, and the pursuit of understanding amid division and hostility. This study aims to analyze the values of humanism in William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet. The research focuses on how humanist ideals such as dignity, freedom, solidarity, and communicative rationality are reflected through the characters’ dialogues, decisions, and relationships. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the analysis applies Hardiman’s theory of humanism, supported by references from academic books and journals. The findings reveal six categories of humanism values: appreciating opinions (20%), cooperation (17%), sacrifice (23%), caring for others (13%), helping (13%), and solidarity (14%). Among these, sacrifice appears as the most dominant value, especially reflected in the willingness of Romeo and Juliet to risk everything for love and moral ideals. These findings indicate that Romeo and Juliet embodies humanist values that emphasize empathy, moral responsibility, and the importance of understanding in overcoming social barriers. Although the story ends in tragedy, the play highlights that love, empathy, and dialogue are essential for building a humane society. Therefore, Romeo and Juliet is not only a timeless love story but also a literary work that reflects enduring humanist ideals relevant to modern life.

This study aims to: 1) describe the classical interpretation of QS. An-Nisa' [4]:9, particularly the concept of protecting descendants (khaufu 'ala al-dzurriyah); 2) explain the moral message of QS. An-Nisa' [4]:9 regarding parental responsibility through Abdullah Saeed's contextual hermeneutical framework; 3) demonstrate how a reinterpretation of QS. An-Nisa' [4]:9 can provide a new, more positive, and more balanced perspective on the childfree phenomenon in contemporary society. This research adopts a qualitative method grounded in library research. The data sources include classical and contemporary tafsir works, the writings of Abdullah Saeed, thematic literature on family studies, and academic references discussing the modern emergence of the childfree phenomenon. The analysis applies a contextual hermeneutical approach that emphasizes reading the Qur'anic verse through its historical setting, universal moral values, and relevance to contemporary social realities. This approach enables an integrated understanding between the fundamental message of the verse and present-day ethical challenges. The findings reveal that classical interpretations of QS. An-Nisa' [4]:9 focuses on the protection of orphans and the obligation to prevent descendants from falling into states of weakness. The moral message of the verse, viewed through Abdullah Saeed's framework, directs attention to the heavy moral responsibility of raising children, which requires comprehensive readiness. The reinterpretation of the verse highlights that the childfree choice does not inherently conflict with Islamic values, as this decision may arise from moral responsibility to avoid producing descendants who may be at risk of weakness, as warned in the verse. This perspective encourages society to view childfree choices more positively and aligns them with the Qur'anic objective of safeguarding the well-being and strength of future generations.

A traffic accident is a social risk event that causes serious losses, either in the form of injury, loss of property, or death of a family member. The State provides protection through the Road Traffic Accident Fund as stipulated in Law Number 34 of 1964 and Government Regulation Number 18 of 1965. However, in practice, the regulation of the status of victims and the coverage of the heirs of the beneficiaries still raises juridical and social problems because they do not fully reflect substantive justice. This study aims to analyze the concept of victims and heirs in the applicable Road Traffic Accident Fund regulations, as well as formulate a more equitable reconstruction of the regulation. This research is normative legal research with a legislative, conceptual, and comparative approach. Analysis is carried out on positive legal norms and social realities that develop in society. The results of the study show that the definition of victim and the limitation of the coverage of heirs in the current positive law are narrow and administrative, so they are less responsive to the complexity of social relations and the economic dependence of the families of traffic accident victims. The mismatch between normative boundaries and social realities has implications for the non-achievement of the goals of social protection and substantive justice. Therefore, this study offers a reconstruction of the interpretation of the concept of victims and an expansion of the coverage of heirs that is more responsive, inclusive, and oriented towards social protection.

Corruption is a serious problem that leads to declining public trust, weakened governance, and hindered national development. Beyond economic losses, corruption also erodes moral values, ethics, and social justice within society. Therefore, corruption prevention efforts must be carried out systematically and sustainably, one of which is through the internalization of anti-corruption values at an early stage, particularly among students as future generations. This community service activity aimed to instill values of integrity, honesty, responsibility, and public ethics among students through the Anti-Corruption Generation Interactive Seminar, conducted in commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day 2025. The activity involved approximately 150 junior and senior high school students in Makassar. The method employed was an interactive seminar implemented through material presentations and discussions between speakers and participants. The seminar materials emphasized an understanding of the dangers of corruption, its impacts on national and social life, and the strategic role of students in fostering an anti-corruption culture within schools and the wider community. The evaluation of the activity was conducted through observation of participant engagement and responses during the seminar. The results indicated an increase in students’ understanding and awareness of anti-corruption values, as well as the importance of integrity-oriented behavior in everyday life. This activity demonstrates that interactive seminars can serve as an effective approach to supporting students’ character development and strengthening preventive efforts against corruption.

Accera Kalompoang is a royal ceremonial tradition held at Balla Lompoa, Gowa, South Sulawesi, as a form of respect toward the sacred royal heirlooms (kalompoang) of the Kingdom of Gowa. The ritual reflects historical memory, political legitimacy, and spiritual beliefs inherited from the Gowa kingdom era and preserved by the local community. This study aims to analyze the historical background, ritual procession, symbolic meanings, socio-religious functions, and the dynamics of preservation of the Accera Kalompoang tradition. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and analysis of previous ethnographic studies and cultural documentation. The findings show that Accera Kalompoang functions not only as a ceremonial cleansing of royal heirlooms but also as a medium of collective identity, cultural continuity, and social integration between traditional authorities and society. Despite modernization and changing social structures, the tradition continues to be maintained as a symbol of historical legitimacy and cultural pride of the Gowa people. Radicalism and terrorism pose serious threats to national security and social order in Indonesia. In response, the state implements deradicalization policies that emphasize not only repressive measures but also preventive and rehabilitative approaches. Nevertheless, these policies require critical constitutional review to ensure their conformity with the rule of law and the protection of human rights. This study aims to analyze the constitutional foundations, the framework of positive legal regulations, and the challenges in implementing deradicalization policies in Indonesia. The research employs a normative juridical method with statutory and conceptual approaches, using library research on primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The findings indicate that deradicalization policies are supported by a strong constitutional basis under the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly regarding the state’s obligation to protect citizens and guarantee the right to security. However, their implementation remains constrained by regulatory disharmony, weak inter-agency coordination, limited institutional capacity, and socio-cultural challenges within society. Therefore, strengthening institutional synergy, adopting more contextual and humane approaches, and improving regulatory frameworks are essential to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of deradicalization policies.

The industrial revolution 4.0 has brought rapid advances in technology, one of which is artificial intelligence (AI). AI has the ability to imitate the human thought and action process in solving various problems. However, the implementation of AI raises legal problems related to responsibility for the negative impacts caused, such as cybercrime, information manipulation, privacy violations, and misuse of technology. Indonesia, as a country based on law, is faced with the challenge of regulating AI to be in line with technological developments. Currently, legal regulations in Indonesia do not specifically regulate the legal responsibility of AI. Positive laws, such as the Civil Code and the ITE Law, can be used interpretively, but are not enough to address the complexity of AI. Legal responsibility related to AI is debatable, whether it is imposed on the developer, owner, or user of AI. In addition, AI does not have a “mens rea” in criminal law, so that unlawful acts are more relevant to be imposed on the responsible human. To overcome this problem, legal reform or the creation of special regulations that comprehensively regulate AI are needed. These regulations must include privacy protection, data security, and criminal and civil liability due to the use of AI. With a clear legal framework, the risk of AI misuse can be minimized and its use can be optimized for the welfare of society.

This study aims to analyze the meaning of interfaith marriage in the film Komang using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory. This theory emphasizes the relationship between signifier and signified as well as the concepts of langue and parole to explain the interaction between social systems and individual expression. The results of the analysis show that the visual, verbal, and symbolic signs in the film represent the clash between love and belief. Scenes such as the initial meeting at a cultural festival, family rejection, and symbolic marriage become a form of negotiation between social values and personal freedom. This film affirms that interfaith marriage in Indonesia can only be accepted through compromise with the religious norms of the majority, but still presents a message of tolerance through symbols of cultural harmony. Therefore, the film Komang is not just a romantic narrative, but a social reflection on the relationship between religion, culture, and love in a pluralistic society.

This study examines Banten Lama as a political symbol that shapes regional identity in Banten Province. As the former center of the Banten Sultanate from the 16th to the 18th century, the site holds not only historical and religious significance but also functions as a symbolic space influencing political legitimacy and the construction of collective identity in contemporary Banten society. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research analyzes how local government, political elites, and communities negotiate the symbolic meanings of Banten Lama through ritual practices, public discourse, and revitalization policies. Data were collected through literature review, non-participatory observation, visual documentation, and examination of policy documents. The findings reveal that Banten Lama operates as a symbolic arena that intertwines historical narratives, Islamic spirituality, and political interests. The government employs symbols of the former sultanate to construct moral legitimacy and a religious political image, while local communities interpret Banten Lama as a spiritual space and a source of economic livelihood. Although the use of historical symbols strengthens regional identity, it also gives rise to symbolic politics that often dominate public space without being accompanied by substantive policy outcomes. This study concludes that the governance of Banten Lama requires participatory and culturally grounded approaches to ensure the sustainable preservation of its historical and social values.
