In contemporary higher education, English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is increasingly expected to prepare learners for meaningful professional participation rather than isolated linguistic performance. Nevertheless, ESP pedagogy has often remained predominantly skill-oriented, with limited conceptual integration of pedagogical innovations such as project-based learning and digital learning. This study presents a systematic literature review of 40 peer-reviewed studies examining how ESP pedagogy is being reframed as situated professional practice through the integration of project-based and digital learning. Following the process of thematic synthesis, the review provides an examination of what ESP learning is perceived to be, how it is conducted and how it is evaluated in different disciplines and countries. Results show a marked pedagogical transition from a language-centric approach to one that incorporated more authenticity, collaboration and professional concern. Reported learning attainments go beyond language to cover professional capability, digital literacy, autonomous learning and identity development. Project-based learning authenticates language use in professional workflows, and digital learning environments support multimodal communication reminiscent of the way people work today. This review contends that in combination, these perspectives re-conceptualise the pedagogical nature of ESP as a type of applied professional education ’realised’ within particular social, institutional and discipline specific contexts. By synthesizing empirical evidence across settings, the study offers a conceptual reframing of ESP pedagogy and outlines implications for curriculum design, assessment, and future research in higher education and the social humanities.

The phenomenon of homeless individuals and beggars (gepeng) in Jambi City remains a significant and ongoing social issue, indicating that efforts to address poverty and urban social vulnerability have not yet been fully effective. Although the local government, through the Jambi City Social Affairs Office, has implemented a Social Rehabilitation Program aimed at restoring beneficiaries’ social functioning through outreach, social assessment, social guidance, skills training, and family reunification, the presence of gepeng in public spaces continues to fluctuate from 2022 to 2024. This study analyzes the effectiveness of the program’s implementation, particularly the social guidance component, using a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observation, and documentation review, and analyzed using George C. Edward III’s policy implementation theory, which emphasizes communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The findings show that the program has been carried out procedurally and humanely; however, its effectiveness remains limited due to insufficient numbers of social workers, weak and unsustained economic empowerment support, and inadequate post-rehabilitation monitoring. As a result, some beneficiaries return to the streets after completing the program. Therefore, strengthening inter-agency communication, increasing resource capacity, integrating sustainable economic empowerment initiatives, and improving consistent monitoring systems are essential steps to achieve long-term and more sustainable reductions in homelessness in Jambi.

This study aims to analyze the impact of the family environment on effective communication skills in early childhood. The family environment, as the first and foremost setting, plays a crucial role in shaping children's communication skills, both through parenting styles, verbal interactions, and the emotional atmosphere within the home. The research method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis techniques, which focuses on describing phenomena based on data obtained through observation and literature review. The results show that children who grow up in a communicative, supportive, and responsive family environment tend to have better communication skills, such as the ability to express opinions, listen well, and interact effectively with others. Conversely, a less harmonious family environment with minimal interaction can hinder the development of children's communication skills. Thus, it can be concluded that the family environment has a significant influence on the effective communication skills of early childhood, so the role of parents is essential in creating a positive and constructive communication atmosphere within the family.

The purpose of this research is to examine how guidance and counseling instructors may help children in junior high get over their anxiety about speaking out in class. Students' lack of confidence and engagement in class might be exacerbated by the widespread problem of their fear of asking questions. In order to delve further into the issue, this study used a descriptive technique based on qualitative research. Students and instructors of guidance and counseling participated in interviews and observations to compile the data. The results highlight the important role that counseling and guidance instructors play in assisting students in coping with anxiety. Counseling sessions with individuals, group guidance exercises, and making an attempt to establish a welcoming classroom setting all contribute to this goal. Teachers also use excellent communication tactics and motivating initiatives to help pupils feel more comfortable expressing themselves. A more favorable classroom environment may also be achieved via collaboration between topic teachers and counseling instructors. Ultimately, the research demonstrates that students' anxiety of asking questions may be successfully reduced via the use of suitable counseling and guiding interventions. Consequently, students' self-esteem, classroom engagement, and academic performance are all much improved when guidance and counseling instructors are present.

Microteaching is an innovative educator training method aimed at developing basic teaching skills and fostering student self-efficacy through a micro-scale approach. This study describes how teaching simulations with limited duration, audience size, and material focus can facilitate the transformation of pre-service teachers' pedagogical competence. Using a qualitative approach, the research found that microteaching functions as a "safe laboratory" for students to explore teaching creativity without the risk of systemic failure. The skill development process includes mastering stimulus variation techniques through the use of visual and audiovisual media, such as PowerPoint and instructional videos, as well as strengthening instructional communication styles. Furthermore, students' self-efficacy increases significantly through a cycle of constructive feedback from peers and supervisors, enabling reflection-on-action. The results conclude that the re-plan and re-teach mechanisms are crucial in shaping professional and permanent teaching behaviors before students enter actual classroom environments. These findings highlight the importance of microteaching in developing both the technical and reflective skills necessary for effective teaching practice.

The rapid development of the digital era has brought significant changes to democratic practices through easier access to information and increased public participation in digital spaces. In this context, young generations have a strategic role as the group most adaptive to information and communication technology. This study aims to analyze the role of young generations in maintaining and strengthening the values of Pancasila democracy in the digital era. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature study. Data were collected from various sources, including books, scientific journal articles, and research reports relevant to digital democracy and youth participation. The findings indicate that young generations can actively contribute by improving digital literacy, increasing political participation through digital media, and utilizing digital platforms as tools for education and advocacy. Furthermore, young generations play an important role in countering misinformation, strengthening the values of social justice, unity, and critical awareness in accordance with Pancasila principles. However, challenges such as the spread of disinformation, social polarization, and limited critical thinking skills in digital spaces remain significant obstacles. Therefore, continuous democratic education and digital literacy are essential to enable young generations to become responsible agents of change in sustaining Pancasila democracy in the digital era.

This community service program aimed to strengthen national insight and soft skills among ADik scholarship students through a participatory and reflective mentoring approach. Many students come from underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions with diverse socio-cultural backgrounds, requiring contextual guidance to internalize national values and develop essential interpersonal competencies. The program combined interactive socialization, group discussions, and value reflection activities to encourage active participation and personal engagement. The method emphasized dialogic learning rather than one-way lectures, allowing students to relate national values to their lived experiences. The findings revealed noticeable behavioral changes, including increased confidence in expressing opinions, stronger participation in discussions, improved communication skills, and heightened awareness of ethical conduct and financial responsibility as scholarship recipients. The emergence of several students as informal local leaders during discussions indicated early signs of social transformation at the individual level. This program demonstrates that reflective and participatory mentoring can effectively foster character building, leadership, and contextual national awareness among university students. The implications suggest that similar approaches can be adopted in student development programs to promote sustainable character formation, especially for students from diverse and remote regions.

This study explores the use of English movies as an alternative approach to English language learning for university students, examining its impact on language skills, learning motivation, and cultural awareness. A qualitative narrative inquiry method was employed to capture students' experiences and perspectives on learning through films. The research involved eight university students, selected purposefully, and data was gathered through in-depth interviews. The findings suggest that watching English movies significantly improves students' listening and speaking skills, vocabulary, fluency, and real-world language usage. English subtitles were found to play a critical role in enhancing students' understanding of sentence structures, spelling, and contextual meanings. Additionally, films were perceived as an engaging learning tool that reduced monotony and boosted motivation compared to traditional methods reliant on textbooks and grammar exercises. Moreover, students reported an increased understanding of cultural nuances, as films exposed them to authentic communication styles, expressions, and social contexts. However, the effectiveness of film-based learning depends on its consistent integration, the careful selection of films that match students' language proficiency levels, and structured pedagogical support. This study concludes that films, when systematically implemented, offer a dynamic and relevant method to engage students and enhance their language learning experience, making it a promising educational tool in higher education.

This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to strengthen interpersonal communication strategies in increasing donor trust in the Grandma Foundation as a social institution engaged in elderly services. The main problems identified include communication patterns that are not systematic, lack of personalization, and lack of transparency of information, so that it has an impact on the level of trust and loyalty of donors. Through a qualitative-educational-participatory approach, PKM activities are carried out through the delivery of effective communication materials, interpersonal communication simulations, the preparation of donor communication flow standards, and assistance in digital communication practices based on social media and instant messaging. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the attitude and communication skills of the management, the formation of donor communication operational standards, the improvement of digital communication skills, and the positive response from donors which was reflected in the increase in interaction and trust. These findings confirm that interpersonal communication based on empathy, transparency, and consistency plays an important role in building long-term relationships with donors. Thus, a structured interpersonal communication strategy can be an effective model for philanthropic institutions in managing donor relationships and maintaining the sustainability of social programs.
