This research examines the role of local wisdom in preserving the Batak Toba ulos cloth as heritage and culture. The purpose of this study is to describe the values of local wisdom embedded in the Batak Toba ulos. The theory of local wisdom proposed by Robert Sibarani is used as the basis for data analysis. The data collection method used in this research is qualitative descriptive, and data is gathered through a literature review of various journals related to the topic. The preservation of the ulos cloth as a cultural heritage of the Batak Toba is greatly aided by local wisdom. Ulos is a symbol of tradition, identity, and values for the Batak people, beyond being just a fabric. Local wisdom helps maintain and pass down this cultural heritage through traditional weaving practices and the use of ulos in various traditional ceremonies. Therefore, ulos is one of Indonesia's cultural legacies that must be preserved, as it is a high-quality product of creative thought. The sacred value of ulos reflects the spirituality of the Batak people. Each ulos establishes a connection between the maker and the recipient. For an individual, ulos is a fabric that warms the body, but for the community, ulos has a symbolic role in various aspects of life. In addition to producing high-quality ulos, the ulos fabric should be kept in a clean and comfortable place, and it should be displayed properly so that visitors may become customers. Ulos is used in various traditional ceremonies as a symbol of identity, a form of respect, a gesture of affection, and a unifying bond.

The purpose of writing this article is to find out that Dalihan Natolu in Batak customs, especially us as Toba Batak people and we can understand that this theology is also connected to the concept of Dalihan Natolu as a symbol of unity in Toba Batak tribal customs and we also as Indonesian people are a reflection of traditions and culture that have been known throughout the world since the time of our ancestors. However, with the entry and domination of Western religions in Indonesia, traditional and cultural values began to experience a process of desacralization and were even marginalized. As a result, the identity of the Indonesian people seems to be lost in expressing their beliefs. To face this challenge, a new theological model is needed that is rooted in what exists in Indonesia, in this case the concept of Dalihan Na Tolu, namely the customs of the Batak tribe. And dalihan na tolu is a kinship system that brings society to an egalitarian status in love and sacrifice.

In this study, we aim to develop BIPA teaching materials by using local culture such as Reog Ponorogo. In qualitative research, the results emphasize meaning rather than generalization, data collection methods are triangulated, and data analysis is done inductively. The data used were sourced from various books, scientific journals, and the results of a survey of the needs of BIPA teaching materials for foreign speakers at Yale University. The integration of culture in teaching materials, such as the traditional art of Reog Ponorogo, not only enriches the learning experience, but also helps learners understand the social context and values underlying language use. This article examines the narrative of human fall in Genesis chapter 3 and the manifestation of God's grace within it. Using qualitative and hermeneutical methods, this research analyzes how the disobedience of Adam and Eve brought universal consequences for humanity. This fall not only resulted in the breakdown of the relationship between humans and God but also brought consequences in the form of curses and suffering. However, in the midst of this tragedy, God showed His grace through the promise of salvation in Genesis 3:15 and the provision of animal skin clothing as a symbol of His care. This promise was later fulfilled through the coming of Jesus Christ who defeated the power of sin. This article also emphasizes the relevance of the story of human fall for today's life, especially in understanding the importance of maintaining integrity in relationship with God and appreciating the grace of salvation that has been given through Christ.

The prolonged conflict between Israel and Palestine has caused suffering on both sides, even extending to the global level. As a humanitarian response, various countries including Indonesia have boycotted products affiliated with Israel. The boycott movement is a form of protest carried out collectively by the community to oppose certain actions, products, or policies that are considered detrimental. This research uses a normative juridical approach, by analyzing regulations such as MUI Fatwa No. 83 of 2023. The results show that the boycott of pro-Israel products has a significant social impact. Positively, it encourages the growth of local products and provides moral support for Palestine. However, there are negative impacts, such as a potential increase in unemployment due to a decrease in the activities of companies affiliated with Israel. The boycott movement also serves as humanitarian solidarity and a symbol of resistance to occupation, although it needs management to reduce the negative impact on domestic labor. The public is urged to support the boycott strategically with an eye on national employment. This step is part of the global struggle for Palestinian justice and independence.

Abstract. Semiotic analysis of advertising aims to uncover the hidden meanings behind visual and textual elements presented in promotional content. This study explores the semiotic features in smartphone advertising, focusing on Oppo as a case study. This study uses a comparative framework to analyze the similarities and differences between Oppo advertising and competing brands. The analysis is conducted through Charles Sanders Peirce's triadic model, consisting of representamen, object, and interpretant, as well as Roland Barthes' concepts of denotation and connotation. This study identifies symbolic, iconic, and indexical signs used in Oppo advertising to build brand identity and attract target audiences. Key findings reveal how visual elements, color schemes, and slogans emphasize innovation, premium quality, and emotional connection. Comparative insights highlight Oppo's differentiation strategies, such as integrating cultural nuances and leveraging aspirational imagery, to strengthen its market position. The results of this study provide a deeper understanding of how semiotic strategies influence consumer perception and purchasing behavior, as well as provide practical implications for marketers and advertisers. This study bridges the gap between semiotic theory and its application in modern advertising, providing a comprehensive perspective on the power of signs in shaping brand narratives.

Interpretation of the Qur'an is an effort to understand Allah's verses through various methods, including tafsir bil-ma'tsur, tafsir bil-ra'yi, and tafsir Isyari. Tafsir bil-ma'tsur relies on the Qur'an, hadith, and the understanding of the companions and the tabi'in, carrying strong authority but not without critique regarding the authenticity of its chains of narration and the potential inclusion of Israiliyat. Tafsir bil-ra'yi employs reason and logic, divided into commendable interpretations that adhere to the principles of Quranic exegesis and blameworthy interpretations that often deviate from Islamic law. Meanwhile, tafsir Isyari offers a symbolic and esoteric approach, requiring strict conditions to ensure relevance and alignment with the apparent meaning of the verses. Although scholars have differing opinions regarding the validity of these interpretative methods, they collectively reflect the intellectual richness of Islam in interpreting the Qur'an to meet the spiritual and intellectual needs of the community across different contexts and eras.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the meaning of Ilham Karim's series of paintings Butterflies In My Stomach through Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach. This research analyses the semiotic process in Karim's 12-painting series, which depicts the emotional journey of his parents' relationship in three phases: encounter, conflict and separation. This research uses qualitative methods through structured interview and literature review. The results of the analysis using Peirce's semiotics show that visual signs such as the consistent use of sofa objects, bright colors and uniquely packaged figure gestures represent harmony, conflict and loss. The triadic interpretation (representament, object and interpretant) reveals a profound message about the emotional dynamics of family relationships. The results of this research provide a new understanding of visual symbolism in contemporary art world, particularly in the context of identity expression and personal trauma.
