This research aims to examine the implementation of group guidance services in developing a positive self-concept among students who actively use social media. The rapid development of digital technology has positioned social media as a space for self-expression, yet uncontrolled use often leads to negative social comparisons that distort adolescents' self-perception. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through deep interviews, observations, and documentation involving students at IAKN Toraja. The findings indicate that group guidance services, conducted through the stages of formation, transition, core activity, and termination, significantly contribute to the formation of a positive self-concept. There is a notable improvement in students' self-confidence, self-acceptance, and self-control regarding social media usage. The group dynamics provide a supportive social laboratory for students to share experiences and receive constructive feedback, allowing them to reconstruct a more realistic and healthy self-image. The implication of this study suggests that group guidance can be an effective intervention for school counselors to mitigate the negative psychological impacts of digital interaction and foster digital literacy among students.

The development of technology in the era of globalization has brought significant changes in society, particularly through the emergence of the internet and social media such as WhatsApp, X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and TikTok, which facilitate rapid information dissemination. This development has also given rise to a new profession, namely content creators, who produce and share content in the form of images, videos, or text for branding, professional purposes, or self-expression, often resorting to sensationalism to attract audience attention. On the other hand, the ease of access to social media has also triggered the spread of negative content, including pornography, as evidenced by Komdigi/Kominfo data showing millions of blocked negative content, with X being one of the dominant platforms. In Islamic perspective, anything that leads to adultery is prohibited as stated in QS. Al-Isra verse 32. A prominent case is Dea OnlyFans (Gusti Ayu Dewanti) who was arrested for distributing pornographic content through OnlyFans and Google Drive, charged under the Pornography Law and ITE Law, and found guilty in the Supreme Court Decision Number 2086 K/Pid.Sus/2023. This study discusses 1) How are the differences in judges' considerations at the District Court, High Court, and Cassation? 2) Can the Supreme Court judges' considerations provide a deterrent effect? This research uses a descriptive method with normative legal research based on literature study, using primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials.

Social media has become integral to the daily lives of Generation Z (Gen Z) in Indonesia, with intensive daily usage contributing to significant mental health concerns. This narrative review synthesizes evidence from the literature published between 2021 and 2026 to examine the primary mechanisms social comparison and fear of missing out (FOMO) underlying the negative effects of social media on mental health, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sleep disturbances, and social isolation. Drawing from 15 key open-access articles (including 7 Indonesia-specific studies and 8 global comparisons), social comparison through curated content on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook was consistently associated with diminished self-satisfaction and heightened dissatisfaction. FOMO, particularly amplified by fast-scrolling algorithms on TikTok, promoted compulsive behaviors such as doomscrolling and exacerbated emotional distress. Digital wellness strategies, including digital detox, mindful usage, and media literacy, showed promising potential for mitigation, although long-term effectiveness remains limited in the Indonesian context. Notable research gaps include the scarcity of longitudinal studies, culturally tailored interventions, and data from rural or non-urban populations. This review recommends integrating digital literacy education into school curricula and developing community-based mental health programs to address risks in the 2025–2026 digital era. The findings offer insights for prevention and intervention strategies targeting Gen Z mental health in Indonesia.

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) has become increasingly prominent among Generation Z due to the high intensity of social media use. Social media serves not only as a communication tool but also as a space for identity construction and the pursuit of social validation. Exposure to influencer content portraying ideal lifestyles, social achievements, and trending activities encourages individuals to remain constantly connected in order to avoid feeling left behind in digital communities. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media influencer content on the level of FOMO among Generation Z. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a literature review method by examining relevant national and international academic journals published within the last five years. Data were analyzed by identifying patterns linking influencer content exposure, psychological mechanisms of FOMO, and its impact on Generation Z’s behavior and psychological well-being. The findings indicate that influencer content significantly contributes to social comparison processes and increases the need for digital validation, such as likes and comments, which are perceived as indicators of social acceptance. This condition strengthens FOMO tendencies and leads to excessive digital engagement, consumptive behavior, and psychological pressure. The discussion highlights that social media algorithms further intensify this cycle by repeatedly promoting popular and viral content. In conclusion, influencer content plays a crucial role in intensifying FOMO among Generation Z, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy and critical awareness to mitigate its negative effects.

The advancement of digital technology has led to the extensive adoption of social media by teenagers. Social media has become a means of communication, entertainment, and an easily accessible source of information, but its use also has various impacts on adolescent mental health. This study aims to examine the influence of social media on adolescent mental health through a literature review approach. The method used was a literature review, reviewing various scientific journals, books, and academic articles relevant to the topic of social media and adolescent mental health. The data obtained was analyzed descriptively and qualitatively to identify patterns of findings and trends in previous research. The findings of the research show that social media usage has both beneficial and detrimental effects on the mental health of adolescents. On the positive side, social media also can be means of self-expression, expanding social networks, and obtaining emotional support. However, excessive and uncontrolled social media use possesses the ability to create adverse effects, such as increased anxiety, stress, depression, low self-confidence, and impaired self-image due to social comparison. Furthermore, exposure to negative content, cyberbullying, and pressure to gain social approval also contribute to the decline in adolescent psychological well-being. The duration of use, the type of platform, and adolescents' ability to manage emotions and time also influence the level of perceived impact. Therefore, the active role of parents, educators, and the social environment is needed to provide guidance and digital literacy education so that teenagers can utilize social media sensibly. Through effective management, it is anticipated that social media can be used constructively while prioritizing adolescent mental health.

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has emerged as a significant psychosocial factor influencing the consumption behavior of Generation Z in the social media era. This study aims to explore how FoMO shapes the purchasing decisions of Generation Z using a qualitative approach, focusing on subjective experiences, digital social pressures, and interactions with viral content. A descriptive-interpretative qualitative method was employed, collecting data through in-depth interviews and observations of social media activity among Generation Z respondents actively engaged in digital platforms. Thematic analysis was applied to identify patterns of FoMO experiences and their impact on purchasing decisions. Findings reveal that FoMO arises from the need for social connection, social comparison with peers and influencers, and intensive exposure to digital trends. This phenomenon drives consumptive behaviors, particularly impulsive purchases, influenced by social validation and emotional impulses. Generation Z’s purchasing decisions are contextual, multidimensional, and not entirely rational, yet meaningful within the framework of digital social identity. The study underscores the necessity of a qualitative approach to comprehensively understand the psychological, social, and cultural complexities of FoMO and consumer behavior. The results provide a conceptual foundation for ethical and relevant marketing strategies targeting young consumers in the digital era.

The diversity of social media used by teenagers today can influence Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) behavior, a condition where someone feels left out of information, trends, or activities carried out by others. This condition is characterized by fear, anxiety, difficulty controlling the desire to stay connected, and a tendency to compare oneself with others on social media. Teenagers are the group most vulnerable to FoMO due to their high intensity of social media use and their still-developing social needs. This reseach seeks to examine the association between scial media diversity and FoMO behavior among eleventh-grade student at SMAN 4 Tuban. The study employed a quantitative analytic design using a cross-sectional approach. The research population consists of all 11th grade students, totaling 157 respondents, selected using simple random sampling. The instruments used are a social media diversity questionnaire and a FoMO behavior questionnaire. Data analysis uses the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results of the study show a p-value of 0.000, which means p < 0.05, so H1 is accepted.
