The family is the first and foremost environment that provides children with social and linguistic experiences. Parents and other family members serve as the child's first language model, significantly influencing their language development in the future. This literature study aims to analyze the impact of the family environment on the language skills of elementary school students. The study employs a literature review method by referencing previous research journals relevant to the topic.Through journal searches, five relevant studies were identified. The majority of these studies applied a descriptive method design with a qualitative approach, while some also incorporated ex-post facto quantitative methods. Despite variations in research findings, all studies consistently indicate that the family environment plays a crucial role in shaping children's language skills. Factors such as parental involvement, the frequency of verbal interactions at home, and the availability of reading materials contribute significantly to children's linguistic development. Additionally, supportive family environments, where parents actively engage in conversations and storytelling, positively impact children's vocabulary acquisition and reading abilities.Based on the literature review results, it can be concluded that the family environment influences children's language skills. While the findings of each study may differ, they share a common conclusion regarding the significance of family interactions in shaping children's reading and communication abilities. These findings highlight the importance of fostering a language-rich home environment to support children's linguistic growth. Future research is suggested to further explore strategies that enhance parental involvement in children's language development.

The ability to speak Indonesian is a crucial aspect of children's development, as it plays a significant role in learning, communication, and social interaction both in school and in the wider community. This study aims to analyze the impact of local language use on students’ Indonesian language proficiency, focusing on fourth-grade students at SDN 03 Kelabu. All 20 students in the class were selected as the research sample. This research employs a qualitative approach using observation and interviews to gather in-depth data regarding students’ daily language habits and their effects on classroom learning. The findings reveal that the dominant use of local languages at home and in the surrounding environment limits the students' ability to use Indonesian actively, particularly in formal learning contexts. This negatively affects their communication skills—both spoken and written—and hinders academic achievement. The study is analyzed through social learning theory and ecological systems theory, which explain that language development is influenced by interactions between individuals and their immediate environments, such as family, peers, and school. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers and parents actively encourage the use of Indonesian in daily activities, especially in educational settings. The study also provides suggestions for further research on strategies to improve Indonesian language proficiency in areas where local languages are predominantly spoken.

Phonetics has an important role in clarifying the pronunciation of a language, including in German and Indonesian. These two languages have different phonetic systems, which can affect clarity and understanding in oral communication. This study aims to analyze the phonetic differences between German and Indonesian in terms of vowels, consonants, word stress, and intonation. Using the comparative analysis method, this study examines data from various academic sources as well as direct observation of German and Indonesian learners. The results show that the differences in the vowel and consonant systems present challenges for learners in mastering clear and precise pronunciation. In addition, word stress and intonation in German have a significant influence on meaning, while in Indonesian, pronunciation tends to be flatter and does not experience much change in meaning due to stress differences. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding phonetics in language learning to improve effective speaking skills.
