Abstract This study aims to analyze the level of digital literacy among students of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) study program at State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) and its implications for the quality of their understanding of fiqh al-ibadah. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques comprising comprehensive literature study and analysis of student digital behavior trends, this research identifies two poles interacting dynamically: on one hand, the expansion of access to religious content through digital platforms has opened unprecedented opportunities for democratizing Islamic jurisprudence knowledge; on the other, the tendency toward instant content consumption potentially reduces depth of understanding of ijtihad methodology and classical fiqh epistemology. Findings indicate that PAI students generally possess adequate technical digital skills, yet remain weak in the critical literacy dimension namely the ability to evaluate the validity, authority, and religious context of digital sources. This phenomenon produces a literacy paradox: students who appear "digitally literate" operationally are paradoxically vulnerable to fragmented and superficial fiqh understanding. This study recommends integrating critical digital literacy education into the PAI curriculum at PTKIN  not as an elective add-on, but as a core competency embedded inseparably within the broader process of fiqh learning. Only through this approach can PAI students leverage digital platforms optimally as tools that strengthen, rather than replace, the structured and methodological tradition of Islamic scholarship

This study aims to analyze in depth the effectiveness of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) and ethnomathematics in improving students’ mathematical abilities through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. This study is motivated by the low level of students’ conceptual understanding, mathematical literacy, and mathematical communication skills, which are still dominated by conventional teaching approaches. Data were collected from ten research articles relevant to the topics of RME and ethnomathematics. The analyzed articles employed various research methods, including experimental research, classroom action research, and research and development (R&D). The results of the review indicate that the implementation of RME is consistently effective in enhancing students’ mathematical abilities, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, mathematical communication, and mathematical literacy. The RME approach, which is based on real-life contexts, helps students understand mathematical concepts more deeply and meaningfully. In addition, the integration of culture through ethnomathematics strengthens the effectiveness of learning by providing contexts that are closely related to students’ daily lives, thereby increasing motivation, engagement, and active participation in the learning process.Furthermore, the findings reveal that the success of culture-based RME is influenced by instructional design, the selection of appropriate contexts, and the teacher’s role in managing the learning process. Therefore, culture-based RME can be considered an effective and relevant approach to improving the quality of mathematics education.

This study addresses the limited integration of environmental education, Islamic values, and creative learning practices in existing pedagogical models. It proposes an eco-friendly Islamic calligraphy approach as an innovative medium for recycling-based learning that promotes both ecological awareness and spiritual development. The study adopts a Participatory Action Research (PAR) design involving 22 students from diverse educational levels at Sanggar Bimbingan Bintang Sembilan. Data were collected through structured observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using an iterative qualitative framework to identify changes in students’ cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains. The findings indicate that students initially exhibited low environmental awareness, minimal engagement, and limited ability to utilize recyclable materials creatively. Following the intervention, there was a substantial increase in active participation, creative output, and conceptual understanding of environmental sustainability. Students also demonstrated observable behavioral shifts, particularly in waste reuse practices and environmental responsibility. In addition, the incorporation of Islamic values reinforced ethical awareness and strengthened students’ sense of stewardship toward the environment. This study contributes to the advancement of interdisciplinary learning by offering a contextual and practice-oriented model that integrates environmental education, religious values, and art-based pedagogy. The proposed approach not only enhances student engagement but also fosters holistic learning outcomes, making it a viable alternative to conventional instructional methods in sustainability education.

This community service activity was carried out on 21 September 2024 at Banksasuci (Bank Sampah Sungai Cisadane), Cihuni, Gading Serpong, Tangerang Regency, as part of the SOUL PROJECT (Save Our Earth With Law) organized by the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Law, UPN Veteran Jakarta. The program focused on urban planning and water management in relation to the impact of development on Cisadane River water quality. The Cisadane River is one of the most vital water sources in Banten Province, supplying raw water for PDAM, agriculture, fisheries, and industry. However, rapid urbanization—marked by dense residential sprawl and industrial expansion—has caused a significant and sustained decline in river water quality. Research shows that COD and BOD concentrations in the Cisadane River trended upward continuously from 2005 to 2012, driven by industrial effluents concentrated in Jatiuwung and domestic wastewater from slum settlements. Institutional management of the river remains fragmented across multiple agencies at city, provincial, and national levels with weak coordination. This activity engaged approximately 50 participants through legal education sessions, participatory field discussions, river cleaning, and tree-planting activities. Results indicate a significant increase in participant awareness of the link between spatial planning, infrastructure development, and river water quality. This program recommends integrated spatial governance and community-based monitoring as key strategies for protecting the Cisadane River ecosystem.

This study aims to analyze the role of Gambus music education in fostering appreciation for Riau Malay oral traditions in higher education. Amidst the wave of globalization, oral traditions such as pantun, syair, and gurindam are losing their space of actualization among the younger generation. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design at the Universitas Islam Riau. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that Gambus music learning, which integrates experiential learning methods through three main stages textual analysis, musical practice, and contextual reflection is effective in increasing students' cultural awareness. The integration of oral tradition texts into musical materials allows students to deeply internalize moral, religious, and social values. Despite challenges such as limited curriculum time allocation, the involvement of expert practitioners serves as a key supporting factor in providing an authentic learning experience. The study concludes that Gambus music in higher education functions as a strategic educational instrument to revitalize oral traditions as a "living archive" and strengthen students' cultural identity.

Islamic education in this era of disruption faces a double challenge: the demand for complex professional competencies and the moral degradation of students. Law No. 14 of 2005 has established four pillars of teacher competency, but this framework is often interpreted administratively and has not touched on the deeper ethical-spiritual foundations. This study aims to revitalize the concept of teacher competency by synthesizing the values of adab mu'allim from the book At-Tibyan by Imam An-Nawawi into modern teacher competency standards. This study uses a qualitative method with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data were collected through documentation of classical texts and indexed journal articles (2015-2025), then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results show a strong overlap between the values of At-Tibyan and the Teacher and Lecturer Law. Personal Competence is strengthened by sincerity and muraqabah; Social Competence is deepened by rifq (gentleness); and Professional Competence is perfected by the concepts of itqan (validation of the chain of transmission of knowledge) and hirshu (fighting spirit). This integration offers a “Complete Teacher” paradigm who is not only technically professional but also has spiritual authority in shaping students' character in the digital age.

This study aims to (1) identify the effect of using the Direct Instruction learning model on the discipline character values of students in the special sports class at SMA Muhammadiyah Wonosobo, (2) identify the effect of using the Inquiry Learning model on the discipline character values of students in the special sports class at SMA Muhammadiyah Wonosobo,  (3) identify the effect of using the Project-Based Learning model on the discipline character values of students in the special sports class at SMA Muhammadiyah Wonosobo, and (4) determine the most effective learning model among Direct Instruction, Inquiry Learning, and Project-Based Learning in improving the discipline character values of students in the special sports class at SMA Muhammadiyah Wonosobo. This research is an experimental study using a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, namely the one-group pretest–posttest design. In this design, a single group is given a pretest (O), followed by a treatment (X), and then a posttest. The effect of the treatment can be identified more accurately by comparing the pretest and posttest scores. The stages of the One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design include determining the sample, conducting a pretest to measure students’ initial conditions, administering the treatment, and finally conducting a posttest to identify the results of the treatment. The results of the analysis indicate that all three learning models have a positive effect on improving students’ discipline. The improvement is reflected in the overall mean score, which increased from 114.03 (pretest) to 117.99 (posttest). The improvement scores for each learning model are as follows: Direct Instruction showed a 4% increase by improving compliance through structured learning; Inquiry Learning encouraged independence and self-control through discovery processes with a 3% increase; while Project-Based Learning resulted in a 4% increase in discipline. Thus, it can be concluded that all learning models contribute to the development of discipline character values. These findings provide practical implications for physical education teachers in selecting character-based learning models that are more appropriate.

This study examines the pedagogical transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in realizing gender-equitable and inclusive learning. Ideal PAI teacher pedagogy encompasses not only content mastery but also pedagogical competence and social sensitivity capable of responding fairly to learner diversity. This study identifies that traditional teacher-centered, rote-oriented pedagogy with minimal gender awareness constitutes a primary barrier to creating equitable learning environments. The required transformation includes developing cooperative learning strategies, eliminating gender bias in classroom interactions, differentiating instruction according to student needs, and using inclusive stereotype-free teaching materials. The theological foundation of Islam affirms that human dignity regardless of gender as emphasized in QS. Al-Hujurat: 13 aligns with inclusivity values in education, making this transformation an authentic manifestation of the rahmatan lil'alamin principle rather than a deviation from Islamic values. Despite ongoing challenges including entrenched patriarchal culture, limited gender literacy, insufficient inclusive teaching materials, and social resistance, this pedagogical transformation carries broad implications for improving learning quality, strengthening tolerance, and enhancing PAI teacher professionalism in Indonesia.

This study examines the practice and meaning of hijab among Muslim female students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Department to determine whether the hijab is understood more as a religious obligation or as a form of identity choice. The purpose of this study is to describe the motivations, patterns of practice, social influences, and experiences of female students related to wearing the hijab in their daily lives, both on and off campus. The study employed a quantitative-descriptive design complemented by qualitative components. A structured questionnaire consisting of Likert-scale statements and open-ended questions was distributed to 70 Muslim female students, while essay responses were analyzed thematically to gain a deeper understanding of the respondents’ perspectives. Quantitative data were summarized using descriptive statistics in the form of percentage distributions to identify response tendencies, while qualitative data were coded to present representative experiences, views, and reasons underlying the decision to wear the hijab. The results showed that the majority of female students consistently wore the hijab primarily because of religious beliefs and personal awareness as Muslim women, although cultural identity, family environment, and social acceptance also influenced the practice. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of recognizing the hijab as both a manifestation of faith and a social identity, as well as the need for a campus environment that respects individual motivations, choices, and autonomy in wearing the hijab.

The rapid growth of digital marketplaces has significantly reshaped consumption behavior among university students. Promotional strategies based on scarcity and urgency, such as flash sales, limited-time discounts, and countdown timers, are designed to induce psychological pressure, potentially triggering Fear of Missing Out (FoMO). This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and FoMO among university students who use digital marketplaces. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 70 undergraduate students selected through accidental sampling. Self-control was measured using the Brief Self-Control Scale, while FoMO was assessed using an adapted Online FoMO Scale. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s product-moment correlation after fulfilling normality assumptions. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between self-control and FoMO (r = –0.522, p < .001), indicating that individuals with higher self-control tend to experience lower levels of FoMO in marketplace contexts. These findings highlight the role of self-regulation as a protective factor against emotionally driven consumption behavior. This study contributes to the literature on digital consumer psychology by extending the concept of FoMO beyond social interaction into economic decision-making contexts. Strengthening self-control is therefore essential in helping individuals manage psychological pressure arising from urgency-based marketing strategies.
