As the world’s largest archipelagic state, Indonesia holds a strategic geographical position that simultaneously renders it vulnerable to multifaceted maritime security threats. One of the most pressing recent issues is the construction of a coastal barrier (pagar laut) along the Tangerang coastline in Banten Province, which has raised significant legal, social, and environmental concerns. This study examines the legality of such structures through the lens of international maritime law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982. Employing a normative legal approach and qualitative analysis, this research assesses both national and international legal instruments relevant to maritime space governance. The findings indicate that the unauthorized construction of the coastal barrier violates several national regulations namely, laws governing coastal management, marine utilization, and environmental protection while also infringing upon core UNCLOS principles such as the right of innocent passage, freedom of navigation, and marine environmental protection. This study underscores the urgent need for integrated national maritime governance, regulatory harmonization, and cross-sectoral coordination to ensure compliance with international legal standards and safeguard public access to marine spaces. The Tangerang coastal barrier case exemplifies the rise of non-traditional maritime security threats in Indonesia, calling for more assertive and structured legal and policy responses.

The research object is a website accessed through seven service endpoints: Login, Homepage, Blog, About, Shop, Contact, and Post Checkout, with a total of 3,500 requests. The testing was conducted under two scenarios: a single server architecture and an architecture utilizing a load balancer (HAProxy) implementing the Round Robin algorithm. The testing method employed Apache JMeter to simulate load and measure various performance parameters, including average response time, throughput, standard deviation, bandwidth usage, average response size, and error rate. The results indicate that the use of a load balancer significantly reduced the average response time from 7,551 ms to 3,278 ms, increased throughput from 12.5 to 27.3 requests per second, and improved response time stability by reducing standard deviation across all endpoints. Bandwidth usage also increased without changes in average response size, with the error rate remaining at 0% in both scenarios. The study concludes that implementing load balancing with HAProxy effectively enhances website service performance in terms of efficiency, capacity, and system stability, and is recommended as a performance improvement solution in resource-constrained environments.

This study analyzes the representation of psychological trauma and collective memory in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori through the psychoanalytic approach of Sigmund Freud and Maurice Halbwachs’ theory of collective memory. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis techniques applied to the text. The findings reveal that the trauma experienced by the main character, Biru Laut, reflects internal conflicts among the id, ego, and superego, as well as the emergence of various defense mechanisms such as repression, sublimation, and acting out. Trauma is portrayed not only as an individual experience but also as a collective wound affecting families and communities, which manifests in symbolic actions like the Kamisan protest. The novel serves as a cathartic space and cultural archive that voices historical wounds while advocating for justice and social recovery. Thus, Laut Bercerita functions not only as a literary work but also as a reflective medium for understanding and preserving the nation's collective trauma.

The Archives and Library Office of West Sumatra Province is a government institution that serves as a center for archive management and public literacy services. This building is visited by various groups, including agency staff, students, university students, and the general public. However, based on preliminary observations, several issues were identified regarding the existing signage system in the building, which was found to be inadequate, lacking in informativeness, and in many cases, unfit for use—making it difficult for visitors to navigate the space. This study aims to design a more effective and communicative signage system using a visual communication design approach. Data collection methods included direct observation and SWOT analysis to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the current signage conditions. The design process employed the Design Thinking method, consisting of five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The outcome of this process includes five primary media: pictograms, floor plan boards, ground floor information boards, directional signs, and room information signs. Additionally, five supporting media were designed: staff ID cards, lanyards, library membership cards, folder maps, and bookmarks. Climate change has emerged as one of the most pressing and multifaceted threats to national security across the globe, including in Indonesia. The consequences of climate change extend far beyond environmental degradation, posing significant risks to critical sectors such as food security, water resources, social cohesion, and the overall stability of national defense systems. Rising temperatures, shifting precipitation patterns, and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events-such as floods, droughts, and storms-have direct and indirect impacts that undermine the resilience of communities and the functionality of state institutions. In Indonesia, a country characterized by its vast archipelago and diverse ecosystems, the climate crisis presents unique challenges. The vulnerability of coastal regions to sea-level rise threatens the livelihoods of millions, while disruptions in agricultural productivity jeopardize food availability and economic stability. Moreover, these environmental stresses exacerbate social inequalities and can trigger internal displacement, heightening the risk of social unrest and conflict. Such dynamics underscore the critical intersection between environmental changes and national security concerns.

As an archipelagic nation with the fourth largest population in the world, Indonesia faces challenges in employment opportunities due to the imbalance between population growth and job availability. Consequently, both central and regional governments are now focusing on the development of the informal sector, which contributes significantly to the economy and employment creation. In the era of the digital economy, this sector benefits from technological advancements. However, informal entrepreneurs continue to face obstacles such as limited access to technology, human resources, and capital. This study aims to examine the influence of education, capital, and information technology on the income of informal sector actors who utilize e-commerce in Denpasar City, both simultaneously and partially. The data used in this study consists of both primary and secondary sources, collected through interviews with 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The analytical methods employed include descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that the variables of education, capital, and information technology simultaneously have a significant influence on the income of the informal sector. Partially, each of these variables also exerts a positive and significant influence on income. Based on these findings, it is recommended to increase attention to education and training in digital technology utilization, as well as improve access to capital for informal entrepreneurs. These efforts can enhance sales performance, expand market reach, and consequently increase income.

The Arctic region has abundant natural resource potential, which has encouraged Arctic coastal countries to explore and exploit existing resources. However, the presence of climate change has changed territorial boundaries including the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and opened up effective routes in the Arctic. Therefore, this study discusses climate change on the exploitation of resources outside the Exclusive Economic Zone by each country in the Arctic region and the impact of such exploitation on the maritime security of the Arctic sea. The approach used is qualitative-descriptive with a literature study method. The data used are secondary data obtained from books, journal articles, and relevant and trusted websites. The theories used in this study are climate change/climate change and maritime security/maritime security. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of climate change on the opening of access and rising sea levels in the Arctic which results in uncertain territorial sea boundaries. Thus encouraging exploitation in the Arctic region which has implications for maritime security.
