Misterius: Publikasi Ilmu Seni dan Desain Komunikasi Visual 2025 Asosiasi Seni Desain dan Komunikasi Visual Indonesia

An Illustrated Storybook of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Coaching Career at Manchester United is designed to narrate the journey of one of the most prominent figures in the world of football from the United Kingdom. This project addresses the lack of engaging and inspiring reading materials for Indonesian adolescents, particularly those that present biographical content in an illustrated format. The book aims to serve as an alternative form of educational and motivational media, with the ultimate goal of fostering reading interest among young readers in Indonesia. The visual elements of the book are rendered in a semi-realistic, full-color illustration style to enhance appeal and accessibility for the target audience—teenagers. The design process utilizes the glass box method, which involves the collection of data and information from external sources. These sources include academic journals, articles, websites, films, YouTube content, autobiographical e-books, and other relevant digital platforms. Data collection is conducted to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Additionally, the problem-solving approach employed is based on the 5W+1H analytical framework (What, Why, Who, When, Where, and How). The final outcome of this undergraduate thesis project is a primary medium in the form of an illustrated storybook. It is further supported by a variety of promotional media such as an e-book, T-shirt, drawstring bag, X-banner, stickers, keychains, and posters.

This paper examines the application of paraphrastic and analytical approaches in the appreciation of productive literature, especially for children's literature. Productive literary appreciation is important in fostering children's reading interest and creativity. The paraphrastic approach helps children re-express literary works in their own language, improving understanding and critical thinking skills. On the other hand, the analytical approach allows children to identify intrinsic and extrinsic elements in literary works, providing deeper insights. Through these two approaches, children are not only passive connoisseurs, but also active in creating and exploring new literary works. This paper explains the definition, characteristics, benefits, and examples of the application of both approaches in literary activities in elementary schools. It is hoped that by implementing this method, children can develop a better appreciation of literature and the moral values contained therein, creating a productive and creative learning environment.

This study analyzes the factors contributing to the low interest in reading among elementary school students in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, with a particular focus on the dependence on artificial intelligence applications such as ChatGPT. Technological advancements have made information access easier, but they have also raised concerns about the decline in the interest in deep book reading. Students who frequently use ChatGPT tend to only read summaries without delving deeper into the material, which weakens their critical thinking skills. In the Merdeka Curriculum, strong literacy is crucial, and therefore, the role of teachers and parents is essential to guide students in making books their primary learning resource. This research not only examines this phenomenon but also offers solutions for teachers and parents to enhance students' reading interest.
