This research was conducted at the Smart House of the Fajar Sejahtera Indonesia Foundation (YAFSI) in Amplas Village. The study aimed to determine the efforts of volunteers in developing cultural literacy programs at the Smart House of the Fajar Sejahtera Indonesia Foundation (YAFSI) in Amplas Village, to identify the factors causing the low implementation of the Smart House's work program in developing cultural literacy for elementary school children at the Fajar Sejahtera Indonesia Foundation (YAFSI) in Amplas Village, and to assess the impact and benefits of the Smart House program on children and the community. In conducting this research, the researcher chose qualitative research with a descriptive approach. To obtain data, the researcher used interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Triangulation of sources technique was employed to test the validity of the data. The results of this study showed that: 1). The efforts of volunteers in developing cultural literacy work programs have been well-implemented, such as providing understanding and strengthening of cultural literacy, the availability of adequate literacy facilities, and collaboration with other organizational institutions. 2). There are several factors that cause the low implementation of the work program, including the lack of awareness or concern among children about information development related to cultural literacy, limited facilities such as reading materials, mutual understanding, and low interest and motivation among children. Therefore, the presence of the Smart House program aims to direct children to continue developing various literacy activities, especially cultural literacy. Given this, the YAFSI Smart House volunteers have introduced various positive and creative work programs to advance cultural literacy development, such as traditional dance activities, storytelling, singing, reading, and more. 3). The impact and benefits provided by the YAFSI Smart House program include children becoming character-based peer educators, having high literacy attitudes, and implementing various activities reflecting cultural literacy development. The development of ICT has an impact on the education sector. In Indonesia itself, the development of ICT is not balanced with literacy and numeracy skills. There needs to be follow-up on the low literacy and numeracy skills of students. Follow-up should not only focus on student abilities, but should also be teacher-centered. PGSD Study Program, STKIP Kusuma Negara, through the Field Work Lecture (KKL) course, implements the tri dharma of higher education, namely Community Service (PKM) in the form of a national webinar with the theme My Teacher, My Hero - Literacy and Numeracy in the Digital Era for Elementary School Teachers. PKM implementation goes through 3 stages, namely pre-preparation, implementation and post-implementation stages. The training was conducted with 2 resource persons and attended by 268 participants who were elementary school teachers and students from all over Indonesia.

Digital literacy has become a key foundation for educational innovation and economic participation in the 21st century. As global economies transition toward digitalization, integrating digital competencies into senior high school curricula is increasingly viewed as essential for supporting Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which emphasizes decent work and inclusive economic growth. This study investigates the role of public policy in shaping digital literacy education in senior high schools through a comparative case study of Indonesia, the Philippines, and Canada. Employing qualitative policy analysis, the research explores how each country’s policy framework conceptualizes, implements, and evaluates digital literacy initiatives. The analysis focuses on curriculum integration, resource allocation, and stakeholder involvement, while also examining how these programs contribute to employability and economic resilience. The findings reveal notable differences in policy design and institutional commitment, with Canada demonstrating a more systematic integration of digital literacy, the Philippines emphasizing access and equity, and Indonesia facing challenges related to resource disparities and curriculum consistency. These variations illustrate how national contexts influence the inclusiveness and effectiveness of digital literacy policies. The study concludes with recommendations for policymakers to design context-sensitive, equitable, and future-oriented digital literacy strategies that align with labor market demands and promote sustainable economic growth.

This research delves into the intricate realm of maritime education, focusing on the academic and professional preparedness of Semester 3 cadets at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta). Anchored in a qualitative descriptive approach, the study synthesizes document analysis and cadet surveys to unravel the multifaceted dynamics shaping the educational landscape. The document analysis reveals a curriculum at STIP Jakarta that aligns commendably with international standards, supported by comprehensive lecturer training programmes. However, the nuanced cadet perspectives spotlight a need for refined emphasis on the practical application of English proficiency in real-world maritime scenarios. Cadet self-assessment underscores both confidence in academic intelligence and an identified need for additional language support, calling for targeted interventions. Exploring professional competences uncovers a disparity between technical proficiency and English Maritime communication, highlighting the importance of a holistic approach to bridge this gap. Cadet motivations vary from a genuine passion for maritime activities to the allure of lucrative career prospects and international recognition. Recognizing this diversity urges the need for personalised career guidance and mentorship programmes. The research also sheds light on English Maritime and Literacy proficiency, differentiating between basic skills and the ability to handle complex communication scenarios. Recommendations include integrating advanced language modules and tailored language support initiatives within the curriculum, ensuring a seamless development of linguistic skills alongside technical competences. In conclusion, this research offers a comprehensive understanding of maritime education at STIP Jakarta, unveiling challenges and opportunities that resonate globally. The synthesis of findings and recommendations forms a compass for refining pedagogical approaches, fostering linguistic and technical adeptness in future maritime professionals. This voyage towards enhancement is not merely a localized pursuit but a contribution to the broader discourse on cultivating global competence in maritime education.
