The absence of a father figure (fatherlessness) can have significant impacts on an individual's psychological and social well-being, particularly among university students who are navigating the critical phase of identity formation. This study aims to explore the meaning of father loss in students by comparing experiences of losing a father due to divorce and death. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, six participants who had experienced fatherlessness were interviewed in depth. The results show that the loss of a father due to death is generally perceived as a permanent and irreplaceable loss, evoking deep sadness. In contrast, father loss due to divorce is often associated with emotional conflict, feelings of abandonment, and unresolved grief (ambiguous loss). The psychological impacts include emotional disturbances, social difficulties, and low self-confidence. Students employed various coping strategies such as seeking social support and engaging in academic or productive activities. In conclusion, the study highlights that the meaning of father loss varies depending on its cause, but both types have significant negative effects on students' psychological well-being. Therefore, strong emotional and social support is essential to help fatherless students adapt and build resilience in facing such loss.

Mathematics plays a crucial role in everyday life, as it enhances students' abilities to absorb lessons more effectively and develop rational, critical, logical, analytical, and systematic thinking. This study employs the literature review method, which involves gathering relevant information from various sources to support the research topic. The author collects references from articles and journals using Google Scholar, an open-access database that simplifies the process of locating topic-specific materials. Difficulties faced by students in learning mathematics are not always due to a lack of mathematical knowledge. They may stem from other issues such as memory problems, difficulty in recalling mathematical problems, weak calculation skills, confusion with operational signs, or reversing numbers. Students with learning disabilities may particularly struggle with both mathematical reasoning and basic computation. Furthermore, mathematical learning difficulties are also associated with cognitive challenges, such as solving complex word problems and understanding numerical concepts. These learning difficulties often result from internal and external factors that hinder the brain’s ability to process, analyze, and retain mathematical information effectively.

Schizophrenia is a severe neuropsychiatric disorder that affects approximately 1% of the population, and is characterized by serious impairments in cognition, emotion and social functioning. The MTHFR gene is a key enzyme in folic acid metabolism, which plays an important role in biochemical processes in the body. One of the common genetic polymorphisms in MTHFR is C677T (rs1801133). Relevant articles were searched through an electronic database, Google Scholar, using the keywords “Relationship Between MTHFR C677T Gene and Schizophrenia”. MTHFR C677T can affect homocysteine metabolism, which in turn can affect the production of brain neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. An imbalance of these neurotransmitters has long been associated with schizophrenia. Environmental factors, such as stress, trauma, and social factors, also play an important role in the development of mental disorders, along with genetic factors such as MTHFR C677T.

Elderly individuals often experience physiological and health-related changes, including reduced muscle quality and decreased levels of physical activity. This decline negatively impacts overall health, increases the risk of chronic diseases, and diminishes the ability to perform daily activities. This study aimed to examine the relationship between vitamin D levels and physical activity in older adults. A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Bina Bhakti Nursing Home involving 93 participants aged 60 years and above. Physical activity was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), while vitamin D levels were measured through venous blood sampling. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation. The average age of the participants was 74.34 years, with a mean vitamin D level of 23.73 ng/mL. Based on IPAQ results, 26.9% of participants had low physical activity, 44.1% moderate, and 29% high. Spearman correlation revealed a weak but statistically significant positive correlation between vitamin D levels and physical activity (r = 0.240, p = 0.021). These findings suggest that higher physical activity levels are associated with higher vitamin D concentrations. Engaging in outdoor activities that promote sun exposure and an active lifestyle contributes to maintaining adequate vitamin D levels, which are essential for muscle function, balance, and bone health. Therefore, ensuring sufficient vitamin D status is crucial for supporting optimal physical activity and enhancing the overall health and quality of life among the elderly.

Background: Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory cardiovascular disorder strongly associated with elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and serves as a major predictor of adverse cardiovascular events. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between inflammatory markers (adiponectin and TNF-α) and key biochemical parameters in atherosclerosis patients. Methods:  A case-control study was conducted on 60 participants (aged 40–65 years) recruited from private cardiac clinics in Fallujah, Iraq, between October and December 2024. Subjects were stratified into two groups: 30 atherosclerosis patients (diagnosed by specialists) and 30 age-matched healthy controls. Blood samples were collected, centrifuged, and analyzed for CRP, TNF-α, adiponectin, PAI-1, MDA, GSH, sodium (Na), and magnesium (Mg) levels using standardized biochemical assays. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS, with significance set at *p* ≤ 0.001. Results: Atherosclerosis patients exhibited significantly elevated serum levels of CRP (2.21 ± 14.46 vs. 1.07 ± 7.76 mg/dL), TNF-α (15.14 ± 120.86 vs. 4.27 ± 65.16 pg/mL), PAI-1 (6.52 ± 0.82 vs. 2.02 ± 0.42 ng/dL), MDA (590.26 ± 29.64 vs. 155.52 ± 25.19 ng/mL), and Na (140.16 ± 1.18 vs. 125.46 ± 6.17 nmol/L) compared to controls (*p* ≤ 0.001). Conversely, adiponectin (0.18 ± 1.81 vs. 0.67 ± 4.18 mg/dL), GSH (22.79 ± 1.37 vs. 40.81 ± 3.05 μg/mL), and Mg (1.46 ± 0.175 vs. 1.84 ± 0.67 nmol/L) were markedly reduced in patients. ROC curve analysis demonstrated perfect diagnostic accuracy (AUC = 1.0) for CRP, TNF-α, and adiponectin in distinguishing patients from controls. Conclusion: The study highlights pronounced dysregulation of inflammatory, oxidative, and metabolic pathways in atherosclerosis, with CRP, TNF-α, and adiponectin serving as robust discriminative biomarkers. These findings underscore the potential of targeting these pathways for therapeutic intervention and early diagnosis.

This research discusses the role of television advertising as a medium for conveying cultural and ethical values in consumer society. Through a semiotic analysis approach, this study highlights how messages in advertising implicitly and explicitly encourage consumption patterns and construct a social reality that associates happiness and success with material possessions. In addition, branding strategies in advertising are proven to play an important role in shaping consumer identity through the emotional associations built between products and lifestyle. However, advertising practices often ignore ethical principles such as honesty, fairness and social responsibility, especially towards vulnerable groups. The results of this research emphasize the importance of integrating ethical values in the advertising creative process and increasing public media literacy in order to create a healthier and more sustainable communication environment.

Anesthesia is an act of relieving pain when performing surgery and various other procedures that cause pain in the body. Anesthesia procedures include pre-anesthesia, intra-anesthesia and post-anesthesia. Nephrolithiasis is very common, causing immense pain and incurring huge economic costs. It is known that nephrolithiasis can cause post-renal acute kidney injury (AKI) through obstruction of urine flow, which is often associated with rapid decline in renal function. Nephrolithiasis can be treated by pharmacologic means, laser treatment as well as radiologic stone crushing with the help of electromagnetic waves, and surgery (4). In surgical procedures such as open kidney general anesthesia is more recommended than regional anesthesia because the position of the patient can cause the patient to feel uncomfortable and pain arises from diaphragmatic stimulation.
