This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by ustadz and ustadzah at Pondok Pesantren Tarbiyatul Islam (PPTI) Al-Falah in maintaining family resilience. The family, as the smallest unit in society, plays a crucial role in shaping individuals’ character, morality, and spirituality, particularly for those living in a pesantren environment characterized by intensive religious and educational activities. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews and observations involving married ustadz and ustadzah who reside within the pesantren environment. The results indicate that in building a household, conflicts are inevitable. Due to teaching responsibilities that often extend into the night, miscommunication may occur and potentially lead to domestic issues. Therefore, family resilience among ustadz and ustadzah at PPTI Al-Falah is developed through five main strategies: (1) spiritual strategies, (2) communicative strategies, (3) educational strategies, (4) social and environmental strategies, and (5) economic and time management strategies.

This study aims to analyze the evolution of Islamic civilization within the cultural landscape of Southeast Asia through a comparative study between Indonesia and Patani, Thailand. The research employs a qualitative approach with a comparative case study design based on literature review, examining the historical, social, cultural, and political developments of both regions. The findings reveal that the development of Islamic civilization in Indonesia occurred through an inclusive and adaptive process of cultural acculturation. Islamic values were integrated with local traditions, creating a moderate and harmonious religious pattern within society. In contrast, the development of Islam in Patani took place under conditions of political marginalization and state pressure, which fostered cultural resistance and strengthened the religious identity of the Malay Muslim community. These differences indicate that socio-political structures play a significant role in shaping the dynamics of Islamic civilization. The study confirms that Islam as a civilization is flexible and adaptable to different cultural environments; however, the form of adaptation is strongly influenced by power relations, social conditions, and local political contexts. This research is expected to enrich the study of Islamic civilization in Southeast Asia through a comparative approach that integrates cultural and political dimensions more comprehensively.

The phenomenon of megachurches represents one of the most significant developments in contemporary Christianity, reflecting shifts in church organizational structures, leadership patterns, and engagement with modern culture. Despite their rapid growth, megachurches have drawn criticism, particularly regarding reliance on charismatic leadership, the prominence of prosperity theology narratives, and the potential weakening of communal dimensions in church life. This study aims to analyze the megachurch phenomenon through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates the sociology of religion and ecclesiological reflection. Employing a qualitative method, this research utilizes literature analysis and a phenomenological approach to understand leadership dynamics and religious practices within large church contexts. The findings indicate that megachurch growth is driven by a combination of charismatic leadership, complex organizational systems, and adaptation to contemporary culture, including digitalization and religious consumerism. However, this model also generates tension with New Testament ecclesiological principles that emphasize participatory community and servant leadership. This study contributes to practical theology by offering an integrative analysis and provides a reflective basis for churches to evaluate their organizational forms and leadership practices in light of foundational theological principles.

The purpose of this study is to analyze Mohammed Ghaly's thoughts from a theological and legal perspective on disability and its implications for social inclusion. This research uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies with in-depth analysis of primary Islamic sources such as the Qur'an, hadith, and tafsir, kalam, and fiqh literature from various periods. Ghaly seeks to reveal the normative attitude of this religion towards persons with disabilities and its implications for social inclusion. The analysis utilizes contemporary disability studies to examine Ghaly's concepts in Islamic theology and law regarding the inherent nature and fundamental rights of persons with disabilities. However, he also emphasizes the need for new interpretations and contextualizations of this textual heritage based on the values of justice, inclusion, and empowerment. The findings of this study show that there is a stigma associated with disability due to the conflict between Islamic idealism and social reality. Nevertheless, the main principles and laws of Islam provide strong normative guidance for the dignity of persons with disabilities.

This study examines Marian devotion in the Catholic Church as a form of veneration (dulia) rather than worship (latria), addressing persistent misconceptions that equate Catholic devotional practices with idolatry. The research aims to identify the forms of Marian devotion practiced by Catholics in Indonesia and to analyze the challenges encountered in living out these practices. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA framework. Two hundred articles were initially identified through Google Scholar and screened according to relevance, recency, geographical context, and methodological criteria, resulting in four eligible studies for analysis. The findings reveal four principal forms of devotion: the use of statues as aids to prayer, pilgrimages to Marian sites, Montfort-style Marian consecration, and the rosary emphasizing praise, imitation, and prayer with Mary. These practices deepen faith and lead the faithful closer to Christ without replacing divine worship. Challenges include external religious intolerance toward devotional symbols and limited theological understanding among believers. Therefore, sound catechesis grounded in Scripture and Church Tradition is essential to ensure authentic and balanced Marian devotion.

The rapid spread of hoaxes and disinformation in the digital era poses serious challenges to social cohesion, societal stability, and the internalization of moral values, particularly within Muslim communities. The circulation of unverified information has the potential to trigger conflict, polarization, and a decline in public trust. This study aims to explore digital literacy as an ethical and religious instrument in actualizing the Islamic principle of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar in the contemporary digital sphere. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study examines classical Islamic sources, including the Qur’an and Hadith, alongside contemporary literature on digital communication ethics and digital citizenship. The findings indicate that digital literacy from an Islamic perspective extends beyond technical competence in accessing and disseminating information; it represents a form of moral responsibility (amanah) grounded in honesty (ash-shidq), prudence, and accountability. Practices such as information verification (tabayyun), clarification, and corrective engagement in online spaces are concrete expressions of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar. Strengthening ethically grounded digital literacy is therefore essential for fostering a healthy, just, and civilized digital public sphere.

This study comprehensively analyzes the impact of sectarian conflict on mental health in Kirkuk through an ethnoreligious meta-analysis of 42 studies with a total of N=15,427 participants published between 2003 and 2023. The quantitative synthesis indicates a PTSD prevalence of 47.3% (95% CI: 44.2–50.4) among victims of sectarian conflict, with an uneven distribution across groups, where the Turkmen minority records the highest prevalence at 56.8%, exceeding Arab Sunni at 43.2% and Kurdish at 41.5%. Logistic regression analysis demonstrates that direct exposure to sectarian violence increases the risk of major depression by 3.4 times (OR=3.42, p<.001), anxiety by 2.8 times (OR=2.83, p<.001), and psychosomatic disorders by 2.5 times (OR=2.54, p<.001). Further meta-regression identifies duration of conflict exposure (β=.426, p<.001) and intensity of sectarian violence (β=.389, p<.001) as significant predictors of symptom severity. In contrast to the findings of Cummings et al. (2013) and Eltally (2019), which emphasize the general impact of conflict, this study reveals specific intergenerational trauma patterns within distinct ethnoreligious communities, with the highest transmission observed among families of sectarian massacre victims (d=0.82), while simultaneously highlighting variations in communal resilience across groups as a differential determinant of post-conflict psychosocial dynamics.

Tabuh Rah in Bali is part of a Hindu religious ceremony involving animal sacrifice to maintain harmony between nature and human life. In practice, it is often accompanied by tajen (cockfighting) involving monetary or valuable bets, potentially violating Article 303 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning gambling. This study examines the regulation of cockfighting as a criminal offense under Article 303 and the criminal liability of perpetrators of tajen within the context of the Tabuh Rah ceremony. The research employs a normative legal method using statutory and conceptual approaches. The findings indicate that cockfighting conducted as part of the Tabuh Rah ritual is permissible based on the Batur Agung Inscription (933 Saka) and the Batuan Inscription (944 Saka) without requiring official authorization. However, cockfighting conducted outside the ritual context and involving betting constitutes gambling in violation of the Criminal Code and Law No. 7 of 1974. Perpetrators may be held criminally liable for intentionally committing an unlawful act.

Reflection : Islamic Education Journal 2026 Asosiasi Riset Ilmu Pendidikan Agama dan Filsafat Indonesia

This study aims to examine the development of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia from the classical to the modern era, as well as the factors influencing their transformation and strategies for strengthening them to remain relevant to contemporary needs without abandoning Islamic values. The research method used is a literature review (library research) by analyzing books, scientific journals, and official documents related to Islamic education, both nationally and internationally, published within the last five years. The findings indicate that Islamic education evolved from informal learning through majelis taklim, surau, and langgar, to the establishment of pesantren, madrasahs, and modern Islamic higher education institutions that integrate religious and general knowledge. The transformation of these institutions is influenced by local cultural factors, international scholarly networks, political pressures and colonialism, reformist figures, globalization, economic demands, social mobility, and national education policies. In the era of globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Islamic educational institutions face challenges such as technological access disparities, limited teacher competence in digital pedagogy, curriculum integration, and the risk of educational commodification. Strengthening strategies include developing integrative curricula, professionalizing teachers, utilizing digital technology, promoting media literacy based on Islamic values, developing entrepreneurship, revitalizing traditional knowledge, and enhancing alumni networks and visionary leadership. This study emphasizes that the synergy among pesantren, madrasahs, and Islamic higher education institutions forms a national Islamic education ecosystem that is adaptive, rooted in spiritual values, and capable of producing Muslim generations who are morally upright, knowledgeable, and globally competitive.

The concept of science according to Ibn Rushd emphasizes the harmony between religion and philosophy, as well as the importance of using rational thinking methods to achieve the truth. He divides human intellectual abilities into three levels, namely rhetoric, dialectical, and demonstrative, and distinguishes science into theoretical and practical sciences. According to Ibn Rushd, knowledge is obtained through cooperation between the senses, imagination, and intellect, so that the human thought process must run systematically and logically. This research uses the library research method to examine the relevance of Ibn Rushd's thought to Islamic boarding school education in the modern era. The results of the study show that Ibn Rushd's ideas can be the basis for integration between religious science and science, encourage the strengthening of students' critical reasoning, and avoid scientific dichotomy. In addition, the application of his thinking has the potential to improve the quality of learning for Islamic boarding schools to be more contextual, inclusive, and adaptive to the development of science and technology. Thus, the concept of Ibn Rushd's knowledge can strengthen the direction of pesantren education towards a holistic and civilization-oriented education system.

This study explores the shift from traditional to modernist educational paradigms in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which have been in existence since before Indonesia’s independence. The shift involves adapting learning methods while retaining traditionalist approaches, ensuring that they meet modern needs without eliminating their core values. The study uses a qualitative-phenomenological approach to examine three main areas: (1) the strategy of educational values and spiritual practices employed by pesantren leaders, with an emphasis on the TAQWA method, which aims to improve student understanding quickly; (2) the integration of Qur'an literacy, religious traditions, and environmental empowerment in the educational process; and (3) the impact of this model on student character development. Qur'an literacy in this context extends beyond reading and memorizing verses, focusing on understanding and actualizing its values in daily life. Religious practices such as book study, worship routines, and etiquette coaching promote moral development. Environmental activities, such as agriculture and natural resource management, encourage independence and ecological awareness. This holistic approach can serve as a model for character education, blending spiritual, social, and environmental aspects, while strengthening pesantren's role in fostering moral and ecological awareness.

Conflicts in transmigration areas are generally multidimensional and influenced by social, economic, land, and institutional factors. This study aims to identify the forms and distribution of conflicts in three districts of the transmigration area, namely Momi Waren District, Ransiki District, and Oransbari District, as well as to formulate a smart system-based conflict resolution approach through the use of spatial data, local institutions, and local wisdom-based settlement practices. Based on field mapping, four main categories of conflict were identified: 1) Land conflicts occur throughout the transmigration sites in the form of claims to transmigration land that has not been handed over to transmigrants because the compensation price is below normal. In addition, there is no ATR BPN office in South Manokwari Regency, one of whose functions is community empowerment and conflict resolution. 2) Economic conflicts occur because transmigrants are registered and recorded in the population registry, making it easy for them to access capital. Several economic activities in agriculture and transportation services are dominated by transmigrants, causing economic jealousy. 3) Social conflicts occur when the distribution of social assistance is uneven and the excessive use of illegally sold alcoholic beverages causes social unrest. 4) Institutional conflicts occur when civil servants, police, and military personnel are recruited, and not all indigenous Papuans who are nominated can be accommodated, requiring the involvement of tribal councils to formulate recommendations for recruitment that prioritize indigenous Papuans. The root causes of the conflict were analyzed using a root cause analysis approach that covered unclear land boundaries, unequal economic access, weak coordination between institutions, and low social trust due to differences in interests between groups. This study utilizes best practices from the Tribal Council, the South Manokwari Regency Transmigration and Manpower Office, the Religious Harmony Forum, and the Social Services Office as the basis for developing smart maps for an early warning system for conflicts. The results of the study formulate a Smart Conflict Resolution System framework consisting of three main components: (1) participatory spatial mapping of conflicts and key actors, (2) integration of institutional databases and social-customary mediation channels, and (3) design of smart maps as a mitigation and decision-making tool in transmigration areas. This system is expected to strengthen collaborative governance, prevent conflict escalation, and realize inclusive and sustainable management of transmigration areas
