The design of banknotes is not merely an aesthetic element but also holds symbolic meanings that reflect a nation's identity, history, and cultural diversity. This study analyzes the design of the 2022 Rupiah banknotes using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic approach, which consists of icons, indexes, and symbols, through a qualitative descriptive method. The findings indicate that the visual elements in these banknotes function not only as a medium of exchange but also as a visual communication tool that strengthens nationalism and cultural awareness. National heroes, traditional dances, indigenous flora, and natural landscapes featured on each denomination carry both explicit and implicit meanings that represent Indonesia's historical and cultural values. Furthermore, the design differences between the 2016 and 2022 emissions, such as the use of more vivid colors, varied sizes, and enhanced security features, highlight the government's visual communication strategy to maintain authenticity and facilitate Rupiah identification. This study provides insights into how banknote design serves as an educational medium and a unifying tool for the nation through meaningful visual symbols.

The sustainable management of marine ecosystems and fishery resources is a primary goal of the SDGs (Goal 14). Supporting this objective requires the availability of a cold chain network, including ice factories, to preserve the quality and freshness of fish catches. In the southern coastal area of Sukabumi, particularly Ciwaru Village within the Ciletuh National Geopark, the availability of ice factories remains insufficient. Small fishing vessels (<5 GT) in this area require approximately 6 tons of ice per month. This study aims to design the production capacity of a portable mini ice factory to meet the local ice demand. By considering seasonal patterns, fishing volumes, and fluctuating ice needs, the factory is designed to produce around 788–798 tons of ice per year, with an ice storage capacity of 2 tons. The design utilizes 12 kg ice blocks, adjusted to the vessel sizes commonly used by local fishermen employing one-day fishing methods. The planning results indicate that the establishment of this mini ice factory can address the ice supply shortage in Ciwaru, support the maintenance of fish quality, and enhance the economic value of fishermen’s catches.

The competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia often faces obstacles due to limited product packaging that fails to adequately reflect product quality, uniqueness, and brand identity. Packaging is not merely a protective container but also a strategic communication tool that influences consumer perceptions, shapes brand image, and supports market expansion. This community service program was carried out at the Banana Chips MSME “Bu Tini” in Semarang, which previously relied on simple plastic packaging without graphic design, brand logo, or product information. The main objective of this program was to assist the MSME in developing both the design and functional aspects of packaging as a strategic effort to strengthen branding, enhance product value, and improve competitiveness. The methodology applied was community-based and participatory, consisting of field observation, focus group discussions, collaborative design with the business owner, and prototype testing of new packaging. The results demonstrate that the redesigned packaging highlights a stronger visual identity through logos, colors, and slogans, while also ensuring practicality, durability, and compliance with food safety standards. Furthermore, the new packaging improved information clarity regarding composition, expiration date, and producer details, which significantly increased consumer trust in hygiene and quality. From a broader perspective, the activity fostered social transformation by raising awareness among the owner and workers about the importance of branding and professional packaging, developing new skills, and positioning the MSME as a role model for similar businesses in the community. This program implies that packaging development is not solely a visual improvement but a strategic branding instrument that can support MSMEs in achieving sustainability and greater competitiveness in local, regional, and potentially digital markets.

The Final Project is an official work that consists of a thesis or an artwork, which is the result of research or scientific creation by students, conducted through a series of steps and procedures in accordance with the Final Project (TA) guidelines set by each faculty. One strategy to encourage students to complete their studies as quickly as possible is to require students who are working on their Final Project (TA) to attend campus at least once a week to report on their progress while bringing their Final Project guidance card. Interviews are conducted with students to find a supervising lecturer, students hold proposal guidance, after which the proposal is validated, students then register for the proposal seminar, students conduct the proposal seminar, a decree (SK) is issued, students continue with Final Project guidance, the documentation of the Final Project is validated, students register for the results seminar and final defense, as well as students undergoing plagiarism checks. This is due to the lack of application platforms that can monitor students' completion of their final projects online. Therefore, research on an information system application to supervise students' final projects is very much needed.
