Purpose of the Study :This study aims to explore the challenges of multiculturalism in Indonesia within the context of citizenship and the recognition of local cultures. It focuses on how cultural diversity can be managed to form an inclusive national identity and address issues such as marginalization, homogenization, and ethnic conflicts. Methodology : The research employs a literature review and qualitative analysis of primary and secondary sources. Data was gathered through a review of existing literature, interviews with community leaders, and observation of public policies related to multiculturalism in Indonesia. Findings : The study reveals that marginalization of local cultures and homogenization due to globalization are major challenges. Conflicts between ethnic groups have also increased due to tensions related to cultural and economic differences. Current public policies do not fully reflect the country's cultural diversity. Conclusion : To address these challenges, it is necessary to strengthen multicultural education, preserve local cultures, and foster intercultural dialogue. Effective management of globalization's impact is also crucial to maintaining cultural diversity. Using qualitative research methods and a normative approach, this study analyzes the interaction between the values of Pancasila and the principles of Islamic law in an effort to create a harmonious and inclusive legal system. In the Indonesian context, Pancasila as the state ideology plays an important role as a normative framework that can integrate Islamic law with national principles, such as justice, unity, humanity and divinity.Through a literature study and in-depth interviews with jurists and theologians, this research found that there is harmony between the values of Pancasila and the basic principles of Islamic law, which allows for legal syncretism. In addition, this research shows that the application of legal syncretism can be a solution in overcoming challenges arising from differences in the interpretation and application of Islamic law within the framework of the Pancasila state. The research also concludes that strengthening legal syncretism through a normative approach can support the development of a legal system that is more adaptive and responsive to the dynamics of Indonesia's multicultural and multireligious society.

Cultural and religious identities often lead to conflicts among citizens governed by national law, especially when it comes to religious rules and Islamic law. How dual identity affects law enforcement in Indonesia is explored through qualitative research using descriptive-analytical techniques. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews with relevant individuals and analysis of national legal and religious documents. The research results indicate that although Law No. 12 of 2006 on Citizenship provides a legal basis for all citizens. In reality, Islamic law often plays a larger role in the lives of Muslim communities. The disagreement between religious law and national law causes chaos in law enforcement, especially regardingin heritance and family issues. In addition, this research examines the legal systems in other countries with multicultural populations, such as Malaysia, India, and Canada. These countries demonstrate similar issues in creating fair legal policies for multicultural societies. This research concludes that an inclusive approach must be used in the formulation of legal policies in Indonesia so that dual identities in society can be accepted by the state’s legal system, allowing.

Second, Organization, the Merdeka Student Exchange Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang provides students with the opportunity to learn outside the classroom with education from destination universities. Participants experience differences in character and accent from other students, highlighting the importance of communicating well in a multicultural campus environment. This study explores the impact of culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP) on student engagement and academic performance in multicultural classrooms. As educational environments become increasingly diverse, CRP has emerged as a critical approach to meet the needs of students from various cultural backgrounds. This quasi-experimental study involved students from multicultural classrooms across multiple schools, with one group implementing CRP strategies and a control group using traditional teaching methods. Data was collected through surveys assessing student engagement and academic records to measure performance before and after the implementation of CRP practices. The findings indicate that students in CRP classrooms exhibited significantly higher engagement levels and improved academic performance compared to the control group. The increased student participation, motivation, and academic success were attributed to the integration of culturally relevant content that resonated with students’ cultural identities. The study highlights several challenges in the implementation of CRP, including the need for professional teacher training, curriculum adaptation to incorporate cultural relevance, and strong policy support. It also underscores the importance of teacher preparedness, curriculum adaptation, and institutional support in ensuring the effective implementation of CRP. The study’s results align with international best practices, demonstrating that CRP significantly enhances student outcomes, particularly among minority cultural groups. Future research should focus on the long-term effects of CRP and its scalability across various educational contexts to further understand its impact on academic achievement and engagement in diverse classroom settings.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of tolerance values among university students in order to achieve peace in a plural society. The research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, analyzing relevant literature on tolerance, students, and social peace. The findings reveal that students’ tolerance can be manifested in academic settings, organizational activities, social interactions, and religious practices. However, its implementation faces challenges such as intolerance, radicalism, identity politics, and the misuse of social media. Strengthening tolerance values can be carried out through multicultural education, character building, and student engagement in cross-cultural and interfaith organizations. Thus, students are not only academic individuals but also moral, social, and intellectual role models who can serve as key drivers in fostering peace and harmony within Indonesia’s diverse society.

The research results show that language not only functions as a means of communication, but also as a reflection of social identity, culture and power. Variations in language use, whether in the form of dialect, style, or register, reflect social stratification and power relations in society. This study focuses on the involvement of the Church in interpreting pluralism in Indonesia. This article describes the efforts of the Catholic Church in addressing diversity in Indonesia through two different but complementary research approaches: quantitative method using questionnaires and qualitative method involving literature review. The quantitative approach involves data collection through questionnaires distributed to various members of the Catholic Church. The numerical data generated from the questionnaires are then statistically analyzed to identify patterns, preferences, and common views related to the synodality and diakonia of the Church. Meanwhile, the qualitative approach involves in-depth analysis through literature study, encompassing an understanding of the concepts of synodality and diakonia of the Church, as well as a review of literature relevant to the Indonesian context. This article aims to provide a comprehensive insight into the role of the Catholic Church in addressing differences and promoting unity in the multicultural context of Indonesia. Thus, this article is expected to make a valuable contribution to the understanding and discussion of the challenges and potential of the synodality and diakonia of the Church in unifying diversity in Indonesia.

Buddhism is a religion that aims to bring happiness to all living beings through mutual respect, acceptance, celebrating differences, and living peacefully. This qualitative research using literature studies analyzes the significance of multicultural education values ​​in Buddhist teachings. The data analysis technique uses content analysis by sorting things according to the focus and objectives of the research. This research produces the following three conclusions. First, Buddhism teaches tolerance so that its followers can listen to the teachings of other religions with full awareness as stated in "samaggā sakhilā hotha", meaning "let each other be in harmony and do good. Second, Buddhism teaches its followers to behave democratically, which was directly exemplified by the Buddha when making a decision for the Kalama people. Third, Buddhism teaches peace and always avoids all forms of conflict, hostility and fighting because those who can realize this truth will immediately end fighting.
