This study discusses the role of Islamic educational philosophy in guiding the transformation of pesantren education in the modern era. Islamic education in Indonesia plays an important role in shaping students’ character, spirituality, and intellectual abilities, with pesantren as one of the oldest institutions that preserve Islamic values. However, the rapid development of globalization and technology requires pesantren to adapt without losing their identity. This research aims to explain how Islamic educational philosophy becomes the foundation for transformation and to identify forms of change that are relevant to current challenges. The study uses a qualitative approach through a literature review, collecting data from journals and other relevant sources. Data are analyzed using content analysis by organizing and comparing findings from different studies. The results show that pesantren transformation occurs through a selective adaptation process, combining traditional values such as moral education, spirituality, and classical learning with modern elements like curriculum integration, interactive learning methods, and digital technology. Some challenges still exist, including limited facilities, unequal access to technology, and the need to improve teacher competence. Islamic educational philosophy helps maintain balance between intellectual, spiritual, and moral aspects so that modernization does not eliminate pesantren identity.

This study examines the philosophy of Islamic education in the thought of Imam Al-Ghazali, focusing on educational objectives, philosophical foundations, curriculum, educational methods, and their relevance to contemporary education. Al-Ghazali views education as an integral process that is not merely oriented toward intellectual development, but also toward moral formation and the purification of the soul in order to attain true happiness (Sa‘adah) in both worldly life and the hereafter. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through library research by analyzing Al-Ghazali’s major works, such as Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din, Ayyuha al-Walad, and Mizan al-‘Amal, as well as relevant supporting literature. The findings indicate that Al-Ghazali rejects the dichotomy between religious and worldly sciences, as reflected in his concept of fard ‘ain and fard kifayah, which are complementary and interconnected. His educational curriculum is integrative and oriented toward public benefit, while his educational methods emphasize habituation, exemplary conduct of educators, and the process of Tazkiyat Al-Nafs (self-purification). Al-Ghazali’s educational philosophy remains relevant in addressing contemporary moral crises by offering a philosophical foundation for forming the insan kamil a complete human being who is intellectually knowledgeable, morally upright, and spiritually grounded.

The method used is a literature study with descriptive qualitative analysis, involving the review of various literature sources related to scientific thinking, character education, and Islamic ethical principles. The results show that the collaboration between systematic, critical, and objective scientific thinking processes with Islamic ethical values such as honesty, responsibility, and politeness can shape students' mindsets and behaviors that are more moderate, responsible, and ethical in the use of technology. This integration also improves students' ability to carefully assess digital information, make appropriate moral decisions, and avoid deviations in cyberspace. Scientific writing plays an important role in developing knowledge and shaping the intellectual character of students. Through academic writing, students not only learn to organize ideas systematically but are also trained to think critically, analytically, and reflectively. This study employs a literature review method to examine the concepts, processes, and originality of scientific work based on academic theories and established scholarly standards. The findings indicate that writing scientific papers is not merely an academic requirement but also a reflection of logical, objective, and ethical thinking. A high-quality scientific work must demonstrate originality, intellectual honesty, and the proper application of scientific methods—from problem formulation and data collection to analysis and conclusion. In addition, scientific writing should contribute to the development of knowledge and offer solutions to current issues in society. Therefore, higher education institutions need to strengthen students’ scientific literacy, academic writing skills, and understanding of research ethics. These efforts are essential for fostering an academic culture that upholds integrity, encourages innovation, and prepares young scholars to become responsible and competitive individuals.

Moral and social education in Islam plays a crucial role in shaping children's character, developing noble character and social responsibility. In this context, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) serves as a prime role model, whose behavior and sayings provide comprehensive guidance for the development of character values. This study aims to analyze authentic hadiths depicting the Prophet's interactions with children to uncover key moral and social values that can be integrated into contemporary Islamic education. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with thematic analysis techniques. Data were collected from relevant authentic hadith literature and then analyzed to identify moral values such as honesty, compassion, justice, empathy, and respect for children's rights. The analysis also considered the historical and social context of the hadiths, allowing interpretations of the values to be tailored to current educational needs. The results show that the Prophet Muhammad taught moral and social principles not only through verbal statements but also through concrete examples in his daily life. For example, he demonstrated gentleness toward children, respected their opinions, appreciated good behavior, and reprimanded them wisely when mistakes occurred. This approach creates an educational pattern that is not authoritarian, but rather builds positive emotional bonds between educators and students. These findings emphasize the relevance of prophetic values in shaping character education in the modern era, which often faces challenges of morality and the degradation of social values. Integrating these values into the curriculum and educational practices in schools and families is expected to produce individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent but also possess high moral integrity and social sensitivity.
