The Terang : Jurnal Kajian Ilmu Sosial, Politik dan Hukum employs an Open Peer Review process to enhance transparency and trust in scientific publishing. The following principles guide this process: 1. Transparent Reviewer Identity: Reviewers' identities are disclosed to the authors, promoting accountability and constructive feedback. 2. Publicly Accessible Reviews: Review reports are made publicly available alongside the published articles, allowing readers to see the peer evaluation process and understand the strengths and weaknesses identified by the reviewers. 3. Interactive Review: Authors and reviewers can engage in open dialogue during the review process, fostering collaboration and enhancing the quality of the manuscript. 4. Reviewer Acknowledgment: Reviewers have the option to sign their reviews and receive acknowledgment for their contribution to the peer review process. 5. Ethical Standards: All participants are expected to adhere to ethical guidelines, ensuring that the review process is fair, respectful, and free from bias. The Open Peer Review model aims to improve the transparency, accountability, and overall quality of the peer review process, benefiting authors, reviewers, and the wider academic community. key characteristics of the Open Peer Review Model for all research articles published in the journal are outlined below: Reviewers' names are disclosed to the authors, fostering transparency and accountability in the review process. Review reports are published alongside the articles, providing readers with insights into the peer review process and the reviewers' evaluations. Allows direct interaction between authors and reviewers, facilitating a constructive dialogue to improve the manuscript's quality. Reviewers can choose to sign their reviews and receive public acknowledgment for their contributions to the peer review process. Emphasizes adherence to ethical guidelines, ensuring that the review process is conducted fairly, respectfully, and without bias. The editorial decisions and rationale are openly shared with the authors, enhancing the credibility and trust in the publication process. Stages of the Review Process: 1. Submission and Technical Check: Upon submission, manuscripts undergo a technical check to ensure they meet the journal’s formatting and ethical guidelines. 2. Initial Editorial Review: The editorial team conducts an initial review to assess the manuscript's suitability and alignment with the journal's scope. 3. Assignment to an Editor: If deemed suitable, the manuscript is assigned to an Editor who oversees the peer review process. 4. Reviewer Selection: The Editor identifies and contacts reviewers who are experts in the relevant field to evaluate the manuscript. 5. Review Process: Reviewers provide detailed feedback and recommendations regarding the manuscript's quality, validity, and contribution to the field. 6. Author Revisions: Based on the reviewers’ feedback, the author may be required to revise the manuscript. This step may involve multiple rounds of revision and re-evaluation. 7. Final Decision: The Editor makes a final decision based on reviewers’ recommendations and the author’s revisions. The possible outcomes are: Accepted as is: The journal will publish the paper in its original form. Accepted with Minor Revisions: The journal will publish the paper and request the author to make minor corrections within a specified timeframe. Accepted with Major Revisions: The journal will publish the paper provided the authors make the changes suggested by the reviewers and/or editors within a specified timeframe. Resubmit (conditional rejection): The journal is willing to reconsider the paper in another round of decision-making after the authors make major changes. Rejected (outright rejection): The journal will not publish the paper or reconsider it even if the authors make major revisions. 8. Publication: Accepted manuscripts proceed to the publication stage, where they are copyedited, formatted, and published in the journal. Screening Plagiarism of the texts that go into this journal is done with the help of Turnitin application.
