Stroke is a cerebrovascular disease (brain blood vessels) due to the death of brain tissue (cerebral infarction). The cause is reduced blood and oxygen flow to the brain due to blockage, narrowing or rupture of blood vessels. Coping mechanisms are a direct effort in stress management. Cognitive means understanding knowledge or the ability to obtain certain knowledge. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of providing cognitive support on coping in stroke patients. The research population was all inpatients in the neurology room at Piru Hospital, West Seram Regency, with a sample of 30 respondents whose selection was carried out using purposive sampling. The design used was pre-experiment, with a one group pretest-posttest design. The independent variable is cognitive support, the dependent variable is coping mechanisms. Using the Wilcoxon sign rank test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The research results showed that there was an influence in providing cognitive support on coping (p = 0.000). Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that there is an influence of providing cognitive support on coping in stroke patients at Piru Hospital, West Seram Regency.
