The problem of this study is the lack of students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning. The purpose of this text is to describe critical thinking in mathematics. The methodology used in the research of this article is qualitative. One of the methods used is qualitative using data collection techniques in the form of diagnostic tests. From several sources obtained, the most relevant data related to this article are presented. The ability to think critically has been proven to have a very important role in learning the material rounding numbers. Students who have good critical thinking skills are not only able to apply rounding rules mechanically, but also understand basic concepts and can apply them in various problem contexts. This study recommends the importance of integrating learning strategies that can develop students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning, especially through problem-based learning approaches and contextual learning.

This study aims to describe the ability of sixth-grade elementary school students in understanding and writing explanatory texts. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive techniques. The subjects of the study were five sixth-grade students selected purposively. Data were collected through a 10-item multiple-choice test. The results showed that three students achieved perfect scores (10 correct), one student answered 9 correctly, and another answered 8 correctly. In the writing task, all students were able to compose explanatory texts with appropriate structure. However, weaknesses were found in the linguistic features, particularly in the use of causal conjunctions and scientific terminology. These findings indicate that students have a good grasp of the basic concept of explanatory texts but require further guidance in mastering linguistic elements.

This study aims to analyze the difficulties faced by phase B learners in primary schools in the skill of writing description essays. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, which involves observation and in-depth interviews with 20 learners. The results of the analysis showed that the difficulties in writing description essays resulted from several factors, including a lack of understanding of text structure, a lack of vocabulary, and a lack of motivation to learn. In addition, environmental factors such as support from parents and teachers also affect students' writing ability. This research is expected to provide insights for teachers and related parties in improving description essay writing skills so that students can develop optimally.

Persuasive writing is a skill that students need to master in conveying ideas in a structured and convincing manner. However, initial observations showed that the majority of students had difficulty in developing ideas and constructing logical arguments in persuasive writing. Several factors caused this, 1) lack of student motivation in writing, 2) lack of variation in learning strategies, and 3) limited use of media and learning resources that are relevant to the world of students. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive research method, namely observation which aims to improve students' persuasive writing skills using a multiliteracy learning model that can improve students' understanding and knowledge. The subjects of the study were several fifth grade elementary school children. The results of the interim study showed that the application of a significant multiliteracy learning model can improve students' understanding and ability in writing persuasive texts as indicated by an increase in the average score of students' writing compared to the results of previous studies in persuasive writing.

The purpose of this study is to assess the computational thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary students within the framework of mathematics instruction. Computational thinking is a crucial 21st-century competency that should be cultivated from an early age, particularly in solving mathematical problems. This study adopts a descriptive quantitative method using a written test instrument developed based on four key computational thinking components: decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic processes. The participants in this research were fourth-grade students from a selected elementary school. The results indicate that most students demonstrate a moderate level of computational thinking. Among the assessed indicators, decomposition was the most successfully achieved, while algorithmic thinking was the least mastered. These results highlight the importance of integrating contextual and problem-based learning strategies to further enhance students’ computational thinking abilities in mathematics education.

Mathematical connection ability is a crucial competence that should be developed from the elementary level, as it helps students understand the interrelationships between mathematical concepts and their applications in daily life. This study aims to analyze the mathematical connection abilities of first-grade elementary school students in learning flat shapes. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method using cognitive and psychomotor assessment instruments. The cognitive test consisted of multiple-choice and essay questions measuring students' ability to recognize, understand, classify, and apply flat shapes. The psychomotor test involved tasks such as assembling flat shapes into meaningful objects and classifying shapes by type. The results showed that students were fairly capable of identifying and grouping flat shapes, but had difficulty explaining classification reasons or relating shapes to real-life objects. The psychomotor results also indicated that fine motor skills and the ability to make real-world connections need improvement. These findings highlight the importance of contextual learning approaches and the use of concrete media to strengthen students’ mathematical connections from an early age.

This study was motivated by students' understanding of writing and completing letters and words at the early stages of learning to write. The aim is to improve students' understanding of how to write productively and descriptively. Data were collected through observation, practice questions, and documentation with a qualitative case study approach. The results showed that students were able to write loose letters, distinguish similar letters (b, d, p, q), and complete missing letters and words in the context of words and sentences.

This study focuses on the development of reading comprehension skills through the implementation of critical thinking strategies in Grade V elementary school students. Reading comprehension is not merely about decoding texts but involves understanding, interpreting, and analyzing the content. The integration of critical thinking aims to encourage students to become active readers who can question, evaluate, and make inferences based on the information they read. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach by observing teaching practices and student responses in the classroom setting. Findings reveal that using critical thinking techniques—such as asking higher-order questions, making predictions, and drawing conclusions—helps students engage more deeply with the text. These strategies also improve their ability to connect prior knowledge with new information, fostering a more meaningful reading experience. Teachers play a vital role in guiding students to think reflectively and independently. The study concludes that consistent application of critical thinking in reading lessons significantly enhances students’ comprehension and supports the development of lifelong learning skills.

The difficulties students experience when solving problems that require calculation indicate a need to improve their arithmetic skills. This research aims to describe students' numeracy skills in solving number problems while also identifying the obstacles they encounter in developing these skills. Specifically, this study explores the mathematical numeracy literacy abilities of fourth-grade elementary school students in facing the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) questions on number material at one elementary school in Indonesia. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including AKM numeracy tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. The research findings show that students' mathematical numeracy literacy ability is in the moderate category, with an average achievement of 65.8%. The main difficulties experienced by students include: (1) recognizing mathematical information from contextual problems, (2) performing numerical calculations, (3) interpreting calculation results in the context of real-world problems, and (4) communicating mathematical reasoning in writing. Based on these results, this research recommends strengthening numeracy learning that connects material with everyday life contexts, as well as improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities through problem-based learning approaches, to optimize the mathematical numeracy literacy of elementary school students.
