This study analyzes the function of deixis in building emotional relationships between characters in the short film "Seutas Kenangan" using a sociopragmatic approach. Besides being a medium for communication, language also functions as a medium for expressing distance, closeness, and social relationships that impact the emotional relationships that occur. Therefore, this study aims to examine how various types of deixis play a role in building emotional relationships between characters. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with data in the form of dialogues obtained through listening and note-taking techniques. This analysis was conducted by identifying the types of deixis, analyzing sociopragmatic aspects, and then interpreting the emotional relationships created. Based on the results of the study, there are deixis of person, time, place, social, and discourse that are related in representing emotional relationships. The emotional relationships found in this analysis include affection, longing, inner conflict, avoidance, and emotional stress due to prevailing social norms. The relationship between the function of deixis and the sociopragmatic approach shows that the function of deixis is not merely a referent indicator, but can also be a strategy for representing emotional relationships influenced by social and cultural conditions.

This study examines the use of modality in Instagram posts to express interpersonal meaning and self-positioning in the context of digital personal branding. Based on Palmer’s (2001) theory, this study aims to identify the types of modality and their functions in conveying speakers’ attitudes, beliefs, obligations, and abilities. The data consist of 30 modal expressions analyzed using a qualitative semantic–pragmatic approach. The analysis reveals three types of modality: deontic, epistemic, and dynamic, with deontic modality as the most dominant (11 data/36.67%), followed by epistemic (10 data/33.33%) and dynamic (9 data/30%). Deontic modality is used to express obligation and social norms, for example through the use of harus and tidak boleh; epistemic modality expresses belief and degrees of certainty, such as mungkin and pasti; while dynamic modality indicates ability and intention, such as ingin and mau. These findings demonstrate that modality plays an important role in constructing interpersonal meaning and speaker positioning in digital discourse, particularly on Instagram.

Curiosity is a very important capital to start learning. Because, with curiosity, humans can dig up interesting information and tips so that they can gain broader insight. In this sophisticated era, it is easier for people to find the information they need. One media that is often used to access information is YouTube. There are many videos on YouTube that can provide interesting and quality information, one of which is Maudy Ayunda's video. This research aims to describe the forms of assertive speech acts contained in the booklist edition of Maudy Ayunda's YouTube channel. The approach used in this research is methodological and theoretical. The approach used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach and a pragmatic approach. The data collection method used in this research was the observation method, followed by the observation technique. The data analysis method in this research is the pragmatic subtype. The research results found that there were types of assertive speech acts including, namely, assertive speech acts stating 31 data, suggesting 11 data, boasting that no data was found, complaining about 5 data, and claiming 14 data.

The study titled “Judges’ Speech Acts in Handling Criminal Cases at the Gorontalo District Court” aims to describe the forms, functions, and meanings of speech acts used by judges in leading court sessions. The introduction emphasizes the importance of language in judicial processes to establish effective, fair, and authoritative communication among judges, defendants, prosecutors, and legal counsels. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a pragmatic approach. Data were collected through direct observation, documentation, and transcription of court proceedings. The analysis is based on Austin and Searle’s speech act theory, which includes locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts. The results show that judges use various types of speech acts, such as directive, declarative, representative, and expressive acts. Illocutionary acts, particularly commands, questions, and assertions, are the most dominant. Their functions are not only to direct the course of the trial but also to maintain order, emphasize legal aspects, and clarify understanding among the parties involved. In conclusion, judges’ speech acts serve as strategic communicative tools with pragmatic power that influence the course of the trial and determine the effectiveness and fairness of the judicial process.

This study is based on the urgency of understanding assertive speech acts as part of pragmatic studies in speech acts in the movie Sweet 20 by Ody C. Harap. Sweet 20 was chosen because of its richness in dialogue and cross-generational representation, thus allowing in-depth analysis of speech acts. This research aims to identify, classify, and analyze the form and function of assertive speech acts used by the characters in the film. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a pragmatic approach. The data were obtained through listening and note-taking techniques on the characters' speech in the movie. Data analysis refers to Searle and Galassi's speech act theory, which emphasizes assertive speech acts. The results show various forms of assertive speech acts, such as stating, telling, suggesting, boasting, complaining, reporting, expressing positive emotions, self-affirmation, and expressing negative emotions, which are influenced by the social and cultural context in the movie. This research contributes to the development of pragmatics studies in linguistics, can be used as a reference in learning Indonesian, especially speaking skills, and provides further insight into the use of speech acts in audio-visual media.

Literary works are a medium to convey messages and values of life through unique language. One form of literary work is a short story that can be studied through a pragmatic approach. This study aims to examine the types of speech acts in the short story Batu di Pekarangan Rumah by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data were obtained through reading and recording techniques, then analyzed based on the classification of speech acts, namely question, statement, and expressive speech acts. The results show that the main character's speech in this short story contains many questioning and expressive speech acts that reflect the emotional closeness between the character “I” and the stone that is the object of his childhood memories. The speech acts not only show the function of communication, but also imply a deep meaning of loneliness, loss, and nostalgia. This research is expected to contribute to the study of pragmatics in the analysis of literary works, especially short stories.

Poetry contains the author's emotions and experiences that remain imprinted in memory. Poetry has hidden meanings wrapped in rhyming language so it is more interesting to read. The author is interested in analyzing the poem "Senja di Pelabuhan Kecil" by Chairil Anwar, because the poem is formed with a straightforward language but has a broad meaning and contains many moral messages in the poem. The aim of this research is to find out the moral message in Chairil Anwar's poetry and to improve the author's understanding of the pragmatic approach. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method that analyzes and explains the moral message of the poem "Senja di Pelabuhan Kecil" by Chairil Anwar using observation studies. The pragmatic approach is an approach to literary criticism that wants to show readers' impressions and acceptance of literary works. Based on the results of the analysis of the poem "Sunja di Pelabuhan Kecil" it can be concluded that this poem contains a moral message about sincerity in accepting a loss and not dwelling on sadness.

The newspaper that is often found today is the Kompas Newspaper. In the educational realm, the editorial text in the Kompas Newspaper can be a medium for learning Indonesian. Editorial text in newspapers requires appropriate sentence structure so that readers can understand the meaning of the contents of the newspaper. Thus, sentence structure in editorial texts can be a medium for analyzing directive illocutionary speech acts. This research aims to determine the types of directive illocution speech acts contained in editorial texts in the Kompas Newspaper. The theoretical benefit of this research is to increase insight and information regarding the types of directive illocution speech acts. The practical benefit is being able to understand the meaning of sentences written in newspapers. This research is classified as descriptive qualitative which refers to a theoretical approach in the form of a pragmatic approach. The method in this research is the matching method using listening and note-taking techniques, while the data presentation method uses formal data presentation. The primary data used is editorial text sourced from the Kompas Newspaper. The data that has been found is presented in the form of an explanation and linked to secondary data in the form of similar previous research. The results of this research are 18 types of directive illocution speech acts which include 7 directive illocution speech acts suggesting, 1 opposing, 2 requesting, 1 commanding, 1 hoping, 1 appealing, 1 giving a signal, 2 pleading, 1 urging, and 1 inviting.

The analysis of linguistic politeness in a short film about negotiations for class X on the Cinta Bahasa YouTube channel focuses on the analysis of politeness in negotiation activities. The purpose of analyzing linguistic politeness in the short film about class X negotiations is to find, describe, and evaluate the mistake in the dialogues in the videos titled "Short Film on Shop Rental Negotiations", "Land Sale and Purchase Negotiations", "Shop Sale and Purchase Negotiations", "House Sale and Purchase Negotiations", "Short Drama on Renting Rice Fields", "Video of Osim Meeting Negotiations", "Negotiations for the Preparation of the Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony" , and “Negotiation of Buying a Cell Phone". This research uses two research methods: a descriptive method with a qualitative approach and a theoretical method with a pragmatic approach. The data analyzed was collected using observation and note-taking techniques. The results of the data analysis are presented in the form of descriptions along with explanations for each linguistic politeness found in the videos. Ten maxims were found: the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of praise, the maxim of humility, the maxim of agreement, the maxim of sympathy, the maxim of apology, the maxim of forgiveness, the maxim of emotion, the maxim of opinion, and the maxim of silence. This research provides an explanation of the use of linguistic politeness in the negotiation process. The language politeness that is most dominantly used on the Cinta Bahasa Youtube channel is compliance with the maxim of agreement and violation of the maxim of humilty. The benefit of this analysis is to provide an understanding of the appropriate use of language in accordance with language norms in the negotiation process, and readers can understand and use it in the context of good language as a result of this analysis.

Language is a communication tool used to express an idea or emotion. In linguistics, language is comprehensively explored with the aim of developing understanding and is also used for research. In analyzing the meaning of language, a pragmatic understanding is required. Pragmatics is a linguistic field that examines the interplay between the function and form of speech acts. This research primarily focuses on the analysis of expressive and directive speech acts. Expressive speech acts involve utterances that convey the feelings or thoughts experienced by the speaker. On the other hand, directive speech acts involve utterances intended to encourage or trigger action from the listener. This research aims to obtain, examine, and discuss a variety of speech acts found in educational science-themed videos on the YouTube channel "Kok Bisa?". This research is a qualitative descriptive study using a theoretical approach, namely a pragmatic approach. The data used consists of a number of utterances in the videos. The data collection technique used is observation and note-taking. Data analysis is carried out using distributional and correlational techniques. Data presentation is done formally and informally. The potential value of this study lies in its capacity to offer insights to the author and researchers concerning expressive and directive speech acts found in utterances. The practical benefits of this research will be obtained by those in the field of science, educators, learners, and language researchers as a basis, reference, and teaching material concerning expressive and directive speech acts found within utterances. In the science videos on the "Kok Bisa?" YouTube channel, 26 expressive speech acts and 36 directive speech acts were identified from nine selected videos. This analysis reveals that directive speech acts in the form of questioning dominate these videos, enabling two-way interaction through viewer comments.

The aim of this research is to describe and analyze the form of directive speech acts and the background of the speech in the short story collection Rokat Tase by Muna Masyari. This research is a type of qualitative research. The approach used is a sociopragmatic approach. The data collection techniques used are listening techniques and note-taking techniques. The instrument used is a data card for the classification of forms of directive speech acts. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis technique. Presentation of the results of data analysis is carried out informally. The forms of directive speech acts found were (9) directive speech acts of giving advice, (31) directive speech acts of commands, (8) directive speech acts of requests, (3) directive speech acts of ordering, and () directive speech acts of criticism. Meanwhile, the background causes of speech are influenced by physical environmental factors, social influences, culture, social status, social relationships and work. This research can have implications for literature learning at junior high school level.

Using a pragmatic approach, the analysis of this book seeks to convey a certain goal to the reader. The purpose of this research is to describe the book Ever Drowned by Fuadh Naim using a pragmatic approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. While the results of this research are for readers to gain deeper insight into the world of fanboys and everything related to them. Not only that, readers can also take a lot of lessons from the life story of a writer who managed to move without having to immediately stay away from Korean things.
