This study aims to analyze the effect of nutrient types on kombucha fermentation using Sosro Tea as a medium. The practicum was conducted with two variations, namely honey as a natural nutrient and Tropicana Slim as a low-calorie sweetener. Parameters observed included color changes, aroma, SCOBY layer formation, pH, and microbial contamination. The results showed that fermentation using honey produced the best combination, which was characterized by a brighter color change, a stable sour aroma, the formation of a thick and pure white SCOBY, and a stable pH of around 4. In contrast, fermentation using Tropicana Slim failed to achieve optimal results. This low-calorie sweetener cannot be metabolized by microbes, resulting in a thin SCOBY and the appearance of green-black mold. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the success of kombucha fermentation is greatly influenced by the availability of simple sugars, which are the main energy source for the SCOBY. In addition, the culture's resistance to microbial contamination also plays an important role in the fermentation process.

The Emergency Department (ER) serves as a critical unit in hospitals with the primary objective of providing fast, precise, and integrated health services aimed at preventing disability and death. According to national standards, the maximum response time for ER services is 5 minutes. However, increasing patient volume combined with limited capacity and resources often hinders compliance with this standard, potentially affecting the quality of service and patient satisfaction. This study aimed to determine the relationship between response time and patient satisfaction in the ER of QIM Batang Hospital. The research employed an observational method with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using a stopwatch to measure response time and a structured questionnaire to assess satisfaction. A total of 100 patients who visited the ER were included as respondents through accidental sampling. Data analysis using the Chi-Square test revealed a significance value of ρ = 0.000, while the correlation test showed a coefficient value of 0.639, indicating a statistically significant relationship with a strong correlation between response time and patient satisfaction. These findings suggest that shorter and timely response times are closely associated with higher levels of patient satisfaction. In conclusion, adherence to response time standards and continuous improvement in the five key satisfaction indicators are crucial strategies to enhance the quality of ER services.

Health problems in older adults, particularly oral function disorders, often lead to serious complications such as chewing difficulties, which disrupt adequate nutritional intake and may trigger broader health issues including malnutrition, aspiration pneumonia, and a decline in overall quality of life. One intervention that has been introduced to address these challenges is the PATAKARA exercise, a simple oral rehabilitation technique designed to strengthen oral and facial muscles. This study aimed to analyze the effect of PATAKARA exercise on the oral function of older adults at Roujin Home Seseragi No Sato Zao, Japan. The research employed a quasi-experimental approach with a One Group Pretest-Post Test Design. The study population consisted of 75 older adults, with 40 participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) questionnaire and analyzed with the Wilcoxon test. Findings showed that most participants were in the advanced elderly category (≥80 years), predominantly female, and had a secondary education background. Prior to the intervention, the majority exhibited moderate oral function, while after the exercise, most participants demonstrated improved oral function categorized as good. Statistical analysis revealed a significant effect of the PATAKARA exercise on oral function (p = 0.000). The results suggest that PATAKARA exercise effectively enhances oral muscle strength, including the lips, tongue, pharynx, and larynx, thereby improving chewing, swallowing, and speech functions. This exercise can be recommended as a practical, non-invasive, and low-cost intervention to support oral health and overall well-being among older adults.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and mortality worldwide, with significant neurological and biochemical consequences. This study aimed to examine the effect of a neuroprotective nutritional intervention consisting of protein, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, and inulin on glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) levels and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores in acute ischemic stroke patients. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group, involving 18 patients divided equally into intervention and control groups. Data were collected at Dr. Kariadi General Hospital Semarang from January to February 2020, measuring serum GFAP levels using ELISA and assessing NIHSS scores before and after a seven-day intervention. The intervention group showed a significant decrease in GFAP levels and a more pronounced improvement in NIHSS scores compared to the control group. These findings suggest that the neuroprotective nutritional intervention may support both biochemical and clinical recovery in acute ischemic stroke patients. Implementing such nutritional strategies could complement standard care and enhance rehabilitation outcomes. Further research with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up is recommended to confirm these results and optimize the intervention protocol.

Utilization of fermented layer chicken excreta as a feed medium for Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots is a sustainable solution for organic waste management. Chicken excreta contains 13-32% crude protein, but has disadvantages such as unbalanced nutrient composition and unpleasant odor. Fermentation of chicken excreta can improve maggot production performance by reducing pathogens, odor, and facilitating digestion. The growth medium of 50% excreta + 50% tofu dregs produced the highest PK, which was 34.34%. The lowest SK and LK were obtained from the growth medium of 50% excreta + 50% tofu dregs and 25% excreta + 75% tofu dregs. Based on physical conditions, the longest and heaviest maggot sizes were obtained from the growth medium of 50% excreta + 50% bran + 5 ml EM4. Meanwhile, the shortest maggots were obtained from the growth medium of 75% coconut dregs + 25% excreta and the lightest maggots were obtained from the growth medium of 100% excreta.

Dioscorea pentaphylla L. tubers, locally known as tomboreso tubers by Indonesian people, grow wild in forests in various parts of Indonesia but are not well-underutilized. This article aims to comprehensively review the phytochemistry, nutritional, anti-nutritional, and bioactivity of tomboreso tubers. The method used is a literature study with a database of online articles downloaded from Google Scholar related to the topic discussed. Various earlier studies reported that tomboreso tubers are rich in phytochemical compounds, such as alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, terpenoids, tannins, glycosides, and saponins. Tomboreso tubers are also rich in complete nutritional content, such as protein content (1.69-9.20%), fat (0.14-6.24%), fiber (1.28-7.24%), starch (3.71-61.26%), minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids. Furthermore, tomboreso tubers also contain anti-nutritional compounds that are less beneficial to health, such as tannins, oxalates, hydrogen cyanide, phenols, flavonoids, phytates, a-amylase inhibitors, and trypsin inhibitors. Tomboreso tubers have been shown to have various biological activities, such as anti-bacterial, anti-mutagenic, and antioxidant, from various earlier studies. To make tomboreso tubers safe to eat and an alternative food source with low anti-nutritional content, further research must be done on their exploration, utilization, and further processing to reduce anti-nutritional compounds.

Spinach (Amaranthus spp.) is a vegetable plant that is highly dependent on the availability of light and nutrients for its growth. Proper spacing plays an important role in influencing a plant's access to light and nutrients, which ultimately impacts its yield. This study examines the impact of planting distance on light and nutrient competition in spinach. Planting spacing that is too tight can lead to intense competition between plants, reduce the efficiency of photosynthesis, and increase the risk of etiolation in lower plants. On the contrary, planting spacing that is too wide reduces land use efficiency and increases the likelihood of weed growth. The ideal planting distance ranges from 15-20 cm between plants, which ensures maximum utilization of light and nutrients without resulting in excessive competition, thus supporting optimal growth and yield
