Prosiding Seminar Nasional Manajemen dan Ekonomi 2024 Universitas Kristen Indonesia Toraja

The plastic waste problem in Indonesia, which is the second largest contributor in the world, prompts the need for innovative and sustainable solutions. One proposed solution is the utilization of plastic waste into ecobricks, which are eco-friendly bricks made from compacted plastic waste. The training program in Jawisari Village involved socialization and practice of ecobricking, aiming to raise community awareness about plastic waste management and provide practical skills. The activity successfully engaged the community, produced ecobricks, and is expected to create a cleaner and healthier environment.

The issue of waste, especially plastic waste, has become a crucial problem in Indonesia, leading to ecosystem damage and environmental pollution. SDN 2 Cikalang, located in Tasikmalaya City, is one of the schools that has not yet implemented optimal plastic waste management. An Ecobrick outreach program was conducted to enhance the knowledge of fifth-grade students about plastic waste management through Ecobrick innovation. An Ecobrick is a plastic bottle filled tightly with plastic waste, which can be used as a construction material to replace bricks. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Ecobrick outreach program in increasing students' knowledge of plastic waste management. The research methods included pre-test, material delivery, hands-on practice, and post-test. The evaluation results showed a 45% increase in students' knowledge, with a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p value = 0.000). This indicates that a hands-on education approach is effective in improving students' understanding of plastic waste management through Ecobrick.

The problem of plastic waste in Indonesia has become an increasingly urgent issue to be addressed. One of the areas facing serious waste management challenges is Bendelan Village in Binakal District, Bondowoso Regency. The lack of waste processing facilities and community awareness are key factors exacerbating the situation. Through a community service program, efforts were made to introduce and utilize ecobricks as a solution for managing plastic waste. This program involved PKK cadres in the socialization and creation of ecobricks. The outcome of this program was the creation of 20 ecobrick bottles, reflecting active community participation in the Plastic Exchange movement. This initiative is expected to be sustainable and contribute positively to creating a cleaner and healthier environment.

Plastic waste is a common problem in all regions of Indonesia. As one of the largest contributors to plastic waste in the world, Indonesia faces a major challenge in plastic waste management. One creative solution that is gaining popularity is ecobricking, an environmentally friendly plastic waste management technique that turns plastic waste into strong and durable “bricks”. This research uses a qualitative method in the process, where data is taken through direct observation in the Rejosari village environment, experiment, as well as literature studies from books, journal articles, and other archives. Through the KKN work program, 84 ecobricks were successfully made by collecting plastic waste from grocery stores, food stalls, and markets. Approximately 7 kg of plastic waste has been absorbed for the needs of ecobricking. Overall, ecobricks have great potential in reducing plastic waste, increasing community awareness of the importance of waste management, as an environmental conservation effort, while supporting local economic empowerment.

Managing plastic waste, which continues to increase, is a global challenge that requires sustainable solutions. One approach that can be applied is community empowerment through making ecobricks. Ecobricks are a method of managing plastic waste by using plastic bottles as containers to fill non-organic waste, thereby producing environmentally friendly building materials. This research aims to identify the impact of community creative empowerment through an ecobrick making program in the context of reducing plastic waste in the local environment. The methods used in this research include a participatory approach through training, counseling and direct observation in the community. The research results show that community involvement in making ecobricks not only contributes to reducing the volume of plastic waste, but also increases environmental awareness and community creativity. In addition, this program has a positive impact on local economic development through the potential use of ecobricks as an alternative construction material. In conclusion, community empowerment through making ecobricks is an effective step in overcoming the problem of plastic waste while empowering communities in a sustainable manner.

This study investigates the implementation of ecobricks as a strategy to reduce plastic waste in Penjalin Village. The research focused on the effectiveness of educational workshops and community involvement in promoting sustainable waste management practices. Data was collected through surveys, interviews, workshops, and observations conducted over three months. The results showed that plastic waste is a significant issue in the village, with limited awareness of proper waste disposal methods. The introduction of ecobricks, coupled with community education, resulted in increased participation and a positive shift in attitudes towards environmental sustainability. The study also found that the success of the ecobrick initiative relies heavily on continued education and community engagement. The findings suggest that similar strategies could be effective in other rural areas facing similar challenges. This research contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable waste management and highlights the potential of ecobricks as a practical solution to plastic waste problems.

Mojowangi Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency, is a village that has strong cultural potential. However, this village also faces environmental weaknesses in the form of increasingly worrying plastic waste problems. Ecobrick socialization in Mojowangi Village is a very important effort to overcome the problem of plastic waste. Using a participatory method, this activity involves PKK mothers in making ecobricks, namely plastic bottles filled with solid plastic waste. The main objective is to increase community awareness and skills in sustainable plastic waste management. This activity also contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially goals number 11 (Sustainable Cities and Settlements) and number 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). The results of the activity show an increase in community awareness, skills, and active participation, as well as opening up new economic opportunities for the community. Thus, this activity not only has a positive impact on the environment but can also improve the economy of the local community

The dangers of plastic waste are common and disturb both the water, land and air. Ecobricks are a creative way to reduce plastic waste by putting clean plastic waste into plastic bottles and the results will be used for human benefit. Making ecobricks is not yet popular among the wider community. This service activity will provide benefits to various parties, including the community, community service participants and the government. The targets for this service activity are Maura El-Mumtaz Elementary School students in the Tanah Seribu sub-district, Binjai City. Based on the results of community service activities that have been carried out, it can be seen that students can make seats from ecobricks. It is hoped that students will be able to express many more ideas for making ecobricks, not only making them in the form of chairs but also in other shapes. So this can be used as a business opportunity for the community

One non-organic waste that is used extensively in daily life is plastic, particularly for food packaging vendors and as a raw material for toy manufacturers. Waste will result from the vast amount of plastic that residents of Medan Krio use and discard after consumption. The goal of the research program's implementation is to enable locals to recycle waste materials to create valuable products. The village of Medan Krio Village has a high population density, which has led to the development of waste management issues. The village has traditionally disposed of waste by burning it and throwing it beside the street, which is why there is a garbage stench. which has a strong odor as a result of careless trash dumping. In light of this issue, Ecobricks may offer a way to lessen plastic waste and turn it into products with a positive economic impact. Method: PAR (Participatory Action Research), which is study that identifies issues and then offers potential solutions. Findings: The Ecobrick technique is being used in Medan Krio Village to make use of plastic waste. A recycling technique known as "ecobricks" uses plastic bottles that have been packed full of non-organic materials until they are extremely hard and dense.
