This research analyzes the aesthetic values and symbolic meanings of The Siborang Struggle Monument in Padang Sidempuan City. It aims to raise awareness among people who pass by the monument about the importance of remembering the services of heroes who fought tirelessly to defend Indonesia’s independence. The purpose of this research is to describe the aesthetic values based on Monroe Beardsley’s aesthetic theory and to uncover the symbolic meanings according to Langer’s symbol theory, as represented in The Siborang Struggle Monument. The research method employed is qualitative with a descriptive approach, using data collected through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The results show that The Siborang Struggle Monument holds significant aesthetic value through its unique local architectural form and conveys a strong symbolic meaning as a representation of bravery and sacrifice. This is reflected in the statue’s facial expression, which depicts a passionate fighting spirit while carrying war tools such as a sharpened bamboo spear with a flag, Molotov cocktails, and firearms, along with elegant color choices that carry implicit meanings. The study concludes that the monument not only serves as a commemorative structure but also stands as a symbol of national identity and pride. This research is expected to foster a spirit of patriotism and resilience in the younger generation and can serve as a reference for future studies on related topics.

This study aims to determine what types of traditional accessories are worn by Batak Toba brides and grooms during weddings and pre-weddings and to determine the aesthetic value and symbolic meaning of each accessory. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The techniques used in data collection are library studies, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by data tabulation, data triangulation, and data interpretation, as well as drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study, the traditional accessories worn by Batak Toba brides have various types, and the form or style of use depends on the region. Each traditional accessory has an aesthetic value that can be seen from its physical form that can be sensed, such as its unique and attractive shape, color and shape. Each traditional Batak Toba accessory also contains a symbolic meaning that symbolizes prayer, and the hopes of the family and bride in starting a new life.

This study aims to analyze the logo of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach. Peirce's theory divides signs into icons, indexes, and symbols, and views meaning through a triadic process: representamen, object, and interpretant. With a qualitative approach, this study identifies visual elements in the UINSU logo and interprets their meaning based on the context of Islam, science, and nationalism. The results of the analysis show that each visual component, whether shape, color, or typography, contains deep philosophical and ideological meanings and represents the identity and institutional vision of UINSU.

Sal Priadi is a Male Songwriter and Singer. His song entitled Gala Sunflower is very popular among teenagers, especially today. This research was motivated by the desire to know the meaning of the words and terms in the song, which could become material for thought and reflection about life. The song Gala Sunflower tells of longing for someone who has died, and this research aims to understand the meaning of the words and terms contained in the song. Research on the song Gala Bunga Matahari to identify several things contained in the song, such as the various settings contained in the song, the meaning of words, the meaning of terms, and implement it as language and literature learning material. The research method used is a qualitative method from song sources using the note-taking technique. The steps used in understanding the song Gala Bunga Sunflower use hermeneutic techniques. Understanding the song Gala Bunga Sunflower can be linked to basic learning competencies, such as identifying the meaning of words and the meaning of terms. It is hoped that students can apply the meaning contained in Sal Priadi's song "Gala Bunga Matahari".

Tonga Village is home to a significant number of carving craftsmen in North Toraja, who are renowned for their unique carving art. However, there is a growing concern that the younger generation is not fully aware of the cultural and historical significance of Toraja carvings. By employing qualitative research methods, including interviews, observation, and documentation, this study was able to identify several key issues. One such issue is the lack of regeneration of craftsmen, which has led to a decline in the number of individuals engaged in this practice. Additionally, there is a dearth of cultural socialization about Toraja carving in formal education, which has contributed to a lack of understanding about the significance and meaning of these motifs. In light of the aforementioned issues, there is a clear necessity for the establishment of an information medium that can elucidate the meaning and significance of Toraja carving in a comprehensive manner, with film serving as a potential conduit for such an endeavor. One potential solution is the use of a documentary film. The research method employed in this study is qualitative, employing a linear strategy as a creative strategy in media design. It is anticipated that the information will be conveyed in greater detail, in accordance with reality, and structured in a narrative that is aligned with the target audience, namely students and students. The implementation of the media will occur on a digital platform, thereby facilitating the dissemination of information on a wider scale and effectively increasing cultural knowledge through the use of attractive visuals, clear audio, and integrated narratives. The result of this research is the potential production of a documentary film that can function as a conduit of information, providing education to the community and thus serving as a resource for the public.  

The poem "Antara Gelap dan Terang Manusia" by Ariffin Noor Hasby in the book Salawat Laut aims to analyze the diski and meaning of the poem. This poem explains the meaning of each word used by the author has a certain meaning in which the reader understands the intention and purpose conveyed by the author. The method in this study is qualitative and data collection techniques using literature techniques by understanding the content of the poem. Through the analysis of the poem "Between Darkness and Human Light" by Ariffin Noor Hasby, the diction chosen by the author has a deep meaning, namely telling the story of a person's spiritual journey in searching for the meaning of life in the midst of the complexity of the world, such as darkness and light, heart and mind, sin and forgiveness. This journey is described as an attempt to find love, truth, and inner peace. This poem describes the beauty, emotion, and complexity of the relationship. The repetition of the phrase "Between darkness and human light" at the beginning of each verse emphasizes that this is a universal human condition that continues to be in a struggle between good and evil, between enlightenment and spiritual darkness.

This study examines the forms and symbolic meanings of ornaments in contemporary mosques in Indonesia as a manifestation of the fusion between Islamic values, local traditions, and modernity. Utilizing a qualitative-descriptive research method through comprehensive literature review, the study analyzes various ornaments in several contemporary mosques in Indonesia, such as the Azizi Mosque in Tanjung Pura, the Cheng Hoo Mosque in Surabaya, and the Al Osmani Mosque.  The findings reveal that the ornamentation in Indonesia's contemporary mosques exhibits rich diversity, including geometric, organic, calligraphic, and floral motifs, each with its own uniqueness and characteristics. From a symbolic perspective, these ornaments serve not only as aesthetic elements but also as mediums imbued with philosophical, spiritual, and social values, reflecting the harmony between tradition and modernity. This research highlights how the architecture of contemporary mosques in Indonesia has successfully developed a distinct identity through ornamentation that is not only visually appealing but also deeply meaningful and relevant to the present context. These findings contribute significantly to the understanding of the development of mosque architecture in Indonesia and serve as a reference for designing future contemporary mosques. 

Among the many verses used in the Dolalak Dance, the verse "Atas Pisang" holds a unique position. This verse is often recited at the end of the performance, signifying a solemn and message-laden conclusion. This study aims to examine the symbolism and meaning within the ‘Atas Pisang’ verse in the Dolalak Dance. This research is a qualitative interpretive study employing Roland Barthes' semiotic approach regarding denotation and connotation meanings. The findings indicate that the ‘Atas Pisang’ verse in the Dolalak Dance, through its symbolism and metaphors, conveys various relevant and wise life advice. The balance between visible outcomes and underlying essence, hope and recovery from difficulties, the importance of actions in pursuing desires, appreciation of the past and experiences, and wisdom in family relationships are the main messages conveyed. The ‘Atas Pisang’ verse teaches that a balanced life, filled with hope, active pursuits, appreciation of the past, and wisdom in family relationships are keys to achieving a harmonious and meaningful life.

This research aimed to describe visual meaning in animation movie Pacu Baluluak. study used qualitative descriptive method. This research problem on visual analysis (colour, gesture, and character), with a little review about Pacu Baluluak animation. In order to analyze the data, the researcher used semiotics review by Roland Barthes to define three meaning levels (denotative, connotative, and myth) on some scenes and visual (colour, gesture, and character) in Pacu Baluluak animation documented by the researcher. From the research result, it can be concluded that Pacu Baluluak animation has a good visual communication strategy in creating character, in a form of gesture, colour, and character so that it illustrates a strong character. The moral value in this animation is arranged well with a simple illustration, so that we can easily follow and understand the storyline.

This article discusses and examines the allusions and meanings in the lyrics of the song entitled 'Amin Paling Serius' by Sal Priadi and Nadin Amizah from the perspective of the use of language styles and allusions. Due to the development of pop music in Indonesia, Millennial and Z generation, children are more likely to like pop and foreign language songs so songs in Indonesian begin to fade and reduce listeners, therefore it is necessary to introduce Indonesian songs so that Millennial children are more familiar with their own culture. The method used in the research is descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of observations, the song 'Amin Paling Serius' uses five language styles and figures of speech, namely Smile, Metaphor, Personification, Antonomasia, and Hypocrisy in it. This song is also packaged poetically with symbolic words and means a journey of love with very romantic love and hope for lovers who strengthen each other, pray for each other and pray for each other to continue to a more serious level.  

The Mangongkal Holi tradition which is carried out at each event makes the writer interested in researching it because in its implementation there are symbols and behaviors/activities that are interconnected and have their own meaning. What is the importance of the Mangongkal Holi tradition for the Toba Batak people so that this tradition must be carried out. This study uses descriptive analysis with qualitative research, which emphasizes the perspectives, ways of life, tastes or expressions of emotions and beliefs from the people studied regarding the problems studied which are also data. In this study the authors used a descriptive research method with a qualitative method. Therefore, the research subjects were traditional leaders, families who carry out the Mangongkal Holi ceremony, and local residents in North Sumatra. And the object of this research is the symbolic meaning of the Mangongkal Holi ceremony for the Toba Batak people in North Sumatra. Purposive sampling technique used to take informants.

The song "Amin Paling Serius" popularized by Sal Priadi and Nadin Amizah is a very unique and magical song because the lyrics use a dialogue format between two male and female characters. The song with orchestral strains composed by Lafa Pratomo as the music producer for the song "Amin Paling Serius" brings listeners to explore their deepest feelings of love and hope. “Amin Paling Serius” tells of the love story of two people who come from two different backgrounds, and both offer their prayers with the most serious amen for their love journey together. The lyrics in this song are also very beautiful and poetic, coupled with a figurative language style that makes the song even more alive. The aims of this study include (1) analyzing the use of figurative language in the lyrics of the song "Amin Paling Serius". (2) Understanding and expressing the meaning of the song "Amin Paling Serius". The method used in this research is a qualitative research method. The results of this study are expected to be able to understand the meaning and use of figurative language in the song "Amin Paling Serius" which was popularized by Sal Priadi and Nadin Amizah.

Tujuan dari penelitian jurnal ini untuk mengetahui gaya bahasa dan makna yang terdapat pada lirik lagu “Dunia Tipu-Tipu” Yura Yunita. Riset terhadap penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data, yaitu dengan mendengarkan lagu yang akan dianalisis, memahami isi lirik tersebut kemudian, mencari kata-kata yang mengandung majas atau gaya bahasa lalu mendeskripsikan makna dari lagu ini yang tertuju kepada teman, keluarga dan orang terdekat maka dari itu kami menemukan beberapa majas yang ada didalam lirik lagu tersebut, penelitian yang kami dapatkan adalah beberapa majas yaitu majas hiperbola, majas paradoks, majas eufimisme, majas metafora, dan majas personifikasi.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) mengkaji makna yang terdapat pada lirik lagu “Hanya Rindu” pada album anmesh kamaleng (2) penggunaan gaya bahasa yang terkandung di dalam lirik lagu “ hanya rindu” pada album  Andmesh Kamaleng. Peneliti tertarik menganalisis diksi dan gaya bahasa pada lirik lagu  hanya rindu ini karena ingin mengetahui apa makna yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu tersebut.dan anmesh kamaleng ini dia adalah salah satu penyanyi dan pencipta lagu yang  mempunyai cara tersendiri atau ciri khas tersendiri dalam menyampaikan atau mengarang sebuah lagu. Makna adalah pengertian yang diberikan kepada suatu bentuk kebahasaan,setiap kata saling berkaitan satu sama lain. Gaya bahasa adalah  pemanfaatan kekayaan bahasa dalam berbicara maupun menulis guna untuk memperoleh efek efek tertentu yang membuat sebuah karya sastra semakin hidup dan untuk mempengaruhi atau meyakinkan seorang pembaca atau penyimak tersebut.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi. Sumber data yang digunakan berupa dokumen yang berisi tentang lirik lagu hanya rindu dari album Andmesh Kamaleng.Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu teknik menyimak dan mencatat. Dalam lirik lagu hanya rindu ini mengandung tiga macam makna yaitu makna denotasi,konotasi dan mitos. Gaya bahasa yang digunakan oleh pengarang yaitui 3 ragam gaya bahasa yang masuk pada lirik lagu ini, yakni: gaya bahasa perbandingan, gaya bahasa pertentangan, dan gaya bahasa perulangan.

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menelaah atau meneliti makna dan majas lagu dari Tulus berjudul ‘Monokrom’. Peneliti memilih artikel dengan tema ini dikarenakan  pemakaian majas bisa menjadi salah satu daya tarik untuk mendengarkan lagu. Materi penelitian ini ialah lirik lagu yang berjudul ‘Monokrom’ yang dinyanyikan oleh Tulus. Teori yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif atau bias disebut dengan penelitian dengan cara menganalisis. Hasil dari penelitian lagu ini adalah menemukan majas hiperbola dan makna dari lirik lagu tersebut. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan adanya majas pada bait ke-empat. Jika dari makna lagu, si pencipta lagu tersebut mensyukuri atas kehadiran orang yang hebat dalam merawatnya hingga ia menjadi seorang penyanyi terkenal. Dengan lagu ini, si pencipta lagu ingin mengungkapkan rasa terima kasih kepada orang orang terdekat yang sudah merawat dan mendukungnya.

The purpose of making this journal is to analyze the figure of speech and the meaning contained in the lyrics of Nadin Amizah's song entitled "Like Bones". Researchers are interested in analyzing the lyrics of the song "Like Bones" because it contains words that are both unique and beautiful and have meanings that can be interpreted. In addition, researchers are interested in identifying what figure of speech is contained in the lyrics of the song, because the lyrics of this song have meanings and expectations that want to be informed directly and indirectly. After that, the procedure used in this research is a qualitative descriptive procedure, which is a procedure with the method of analyzing information and the results of the information after it is processed into the form of descriptive text. The subjects analyzed were in the form of song lyrics titled "Like Bones". The results of the analysis of the lyrics of this song show that there are personifications, rhetorical figures of speech, and paradoxical figures of speech. The meaning and meaning contained in lyrics of the song "Like Bones" is the story of someone good at hiding wounds even though he is often seen laughing.

Mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris seringkali dianggap sulit bagi masyarakat Indonesia.  Hal itu terbukti dengan English Proficiency Index Indonesia yang rendah, yaitu menempati peringkat 80 dari 112 negara di tahun 2021. Dengan kondisi tersebut maka pendidikan Bahasa Inggris perlu ditanamkan sejak dini, yaitu sejak usia Sekolah Dasar. Sementara itu dengan memperhatikan karakteristik anak, proses pembelajaran bahasa baru sebaiknya dilakukan menggunakan media yang mudah dimengerti dan menarik perhatian mereka. Penerapan multimedia berbasis mobile diharapkan menjadi solusi agar dapat menarik perhatian anak-anak untuk belajar.  Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut maka penelitian ini dilakukan untuk merancang sebuah aplikas bantu belajar Bahasa Inggris berbasis mobile untuk anak-anak Sekolah Dasar.  Aplikasi tersebut diharapan dapat membantu anak-anak terutama usia Sekolah Dasar dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris dasar dengan baik, menyenangkan dan mudah dipahami. Aplikasi ini juga diharapkan dapat membantu anak-anak memahami pengetahuan tentang angka, huruf, kalimat sehari-hari, anggota keluarga dan benda dalam Bahasa Inggris, baik secara lafal, pengucapan dan maknanya.

Tujuan dari penelitian jurnal ini untuk mengetahui gaya bahasa dan makna yang terdapat pada lirik lagu” Rumpang Nadin amizah” . Riset terhadap penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data, yaitu dengan mendengarkan lagu yang akan dianalisis, memahami isi lirik tersebut kemudian, mencari kata-kata yang mengandung majas atau gaya bahasa lalu mendeskripsikan makna dari lagu ini yang tertuju kepada teman, keluarga dan orang terdekat maka dari itu kami menemukan beberapa majas yang ada didalam lirik lagu tersebut, penelitian yang kami dapatkan adalah beberapa majas yaitu Majas Hiperbola, Majas Alegori, Majas Sarkasme, Majas Sindiran, Majas Klimaks.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan ungkapan gaya bahasa metafora menurut Michael C. Halley dan makna gaya bahasa metafora yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu pada album Inti Bumi karya Rasukma yang terdiri dari 9 lagu. Adapun data penelitian adalah ungkapan gaya bahasa metafora dan makna gaya bahasa metafora. Metode yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan cara mengumpulkan data, mendeskripsikan data, dan selanjutnya menganalisis data. Instrumen penelitian digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pedoman dokumentasi dengan penabelan dan check list dan ditambah dengan keterangan makna. Teknis analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah membaca berulang-ulang dengan cermat, menghayati, memahami lirik lagu, mengumpulkan data, menggarisbawahi pada isi lirik lagu, mendeskripsikan hasil temuan, dan menyimpulkan isi penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan beberapa ungkapan gaya bahasa menurut Michael C. Halley yang terdiri dari metafora being (keadaan), metafora cosmos (kosmos), metafora energic (energi/tenaga), metafora substance (substansi), metafora terrestrial (permukaan bumi), metafora object (benda), metafora living (kehidupan), metafora animate (hewan/makhluk bernyawa), dan metafora human (manusia), serta makna yang terkandung dalam gaya bahasa metafora tersebut.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna dan nilai budaya yang terdapat dalam pedah-pedah pada pernikahan adat suku Karo dengan kajian semantik. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah  video pernikahan adat suku Karo yang telah didokumentasikan ke dalam sebuah DVD yang diambil dari desa Lau Kersik, kecamatan Gunung Sitember, kabupaten  Dairi.  Data dari penelitian ini adalah makna dan nilai budaya pedah-pedah yang diutarakan atau disampaikan oleh pihak Kalimbubu, Senina ataupun Anak Beru. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah dokumentasi video pedah-pedah yang disampaikan Kalimbubu, senina dan Anak Beru.  Teknik analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan tenik reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan terdapat makna konotatif dan makna denotatif dalam pedah-pedah pada pernikahan adat suku Karo. Dan juga terdapat nilai budaya  dalam pedah-pedah pada pernikahan adat suku Karo yang terdiri dari nilai budaya komitmen, nilai budaya religi, nilai budaya kerukunan dan penyelesaian konflik, nilai kesopansantunan, nilai budaya pendidikan, dan nilai budaya kerja keras.
