Local wisdom is an important part of a nation's cultural identity, but its existence is beginning to be marginalized in the midst of modernization. The Kajang Indigenous People in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi, are one of the communities that still maintain their traditional values through a customary legal system called Pasang ri Kajang. This community service activity aims to introduce the potential of Kajang cultural tourism to students as an educational effort in instilling the values of local wisdom. The partners in this activity are the Kajang indigenous people and local traditional leaders, including Ammatoa as the traditional leader. The activity is carried out with a participatory and educational method based on direct experience, which involves students in observation, discussion, and reflection on local culture. The Cultural Advancement Facilitation through Pinhole Photography as an Educational Medium for Children program aims to enhance cultural literacy, creativity, and awareness among young generations regarding the preservation of Malay Deli cultural heritage. This initiative is motivated by the declining interest of children in local history and culture amid rapid modernization, particularly in coastal areas with limited access to educational resources. Pinhole photography is employed as an educational approach due to its simplicity and reflective nature, fostering patience, accuracy, and a fundamental understanding of the interconnection between art, science, and culture. The program was conducted over three days through a series of activities, including workshops on constructing pinhole cameras, field exploration and photography at Malay Deli heritage sites namely Maimun Palace, Al- Mashun Grand Mosque, Al-Osmani Grand Mosque, and Sri Deli Park and photo developing and curation sessions. The activities actively involved children from the Rumah Edukasi Anak Pesisir community as primary participants in the visual documentation of cultural heritage. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of Malay Deli historical and cultural values, the development of creative and reflective thinking skills, and the production of children’s photographic works with potential use as educational and cultural promotion media. Overall, this program contributes to participatory-based cultural advancement and strengthens sustainable cultural tourism through an educational, creative, and sustainable approach.

Currently, the skills needed to advance a tourist area are influenced by the availability of human resources who can speak English and understand local culture well. Unfortunately, improving English proficiency remains a challenge. Additionally, another issue appears as the Alpha generation is exposed to a great deal of English-language social media content; however, this does not appear to be directly correlated with an improvement in their English proficiency. It appears that the English Club instructors at SMA Fons Vitae 1 Jakarta were also aware of these two problems. Therefore, on September 11, 2025, an ABDIMAS activity entitled "Giving and Asking for Direction" training was held with the production of a short film. This activity was attended by 15 participants, 10 boys and 5 girls, a combination of students from grades 10 and 11. The results of the training showed that the pre-production process of making a short film provided a space for participants to recognize and explore Indonesian cultural heritage. Furthermore, the production process of making a short film made participants not afraid of speaking English. In the post-production process, participants can also edit parts of the video that are less than satisfactory because they can re-record if there are errors in pronunciation and grammar.

The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of the policy to convert the Abu Bakar Ali (ABA) parking area toward vendors and parking attendants. The data collection technique used was descriptive qualitative research, obtained from in-depth interviews with vendors and parking attendants and observations at the relocation site of the Malioboro Abu Bakar Ali 2 Parking Area. The Abu Bakar Ali parking lot conversion policy was an effort by the Yogyakarta City Government to improve the aesthetics of the Malioboro area and preserve cultural heritage. The findings reveal a significant gap between the environmental and cultural objectives of the policy and the socio-economic reality, with low tourist visitation to the new location resulting in a drastic decrease in income, leading to resentment among vendors and parking attendants. Therefore, the Yogyakarta City Government needs to review the implementation of this policy so that it does not lead to horizontal conflicts between the government and the vendors and parking attendants.

This study analyzes the legal framework and social implications of the modification licensing process in customary buildings. Modifications are often carried out in response to modernization, material changes, and contemporary functional needs, which have the potential to clash with efforts to preserve cultural values and local wisdom. Using a qualitative approach with case studies in several indigenous villages in Indonesia, data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and review of licensing documents and related policies. The results of the study show that there is a tension between formal licensing laws (such as Building Permits/IMB) and customary laws that apply in local communities. An effective licensing process requires intensive dialogue and collaboration between local government authorities, customary institutions, and building owners to ensure modifications still respect the values contained in cultural heritage. The study recommends a flexible and consultation-based licensing framework that harmoniously integrates positive legal aspects and customary norms, while promoting community awareness and participation in heritage conservation.

This article aims to understand how cultural expressions of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) are inculturated in the liturgy of the Catholic Church as a manifestation of a dynamic encounter between Christian faith and local culture. The research method used is qualitative with a desk observation approach, which involves an in-depth study of Church documents, biblical texts, and practices of contextual liturgical analysis in various regions of NTT. The main results of the study indicate that the process of cultural inculturation in the liturgy in NTT not only enriches the forms of expression of the faith of the people, but also deepens the meaning and experience of the liturgy as a space for authentic theological dialogue between the Gospel message and local cultural heritage. Furthermore, this inculturation emphasizes the relevance of faith in the socio-cultural context, where local elements such as music, dance, clothing, and symbolism are brought to life to reveal the mystery of Christ more contextually. The theological and pastoral implications of these findings are that the Catholic Church in Indonesia, particularly in NTT, is a living, contextual, and relevant witness to the faith, demonstrating that the Gospel can be firmly embedded in the local land and culture, while strengthening the religious identity of the people amidst cultural plurality.

The practice of naming rights through trademark licensing agreements on public facilities has become a common commercialisation strategy in Indonesia. However, when the object of naming rights is a public facility with cultural heritage status, legal uncertainty arises due to the absence of specific regulations governing the intersection between Law No. 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications and Law No. 11 of 2010 concerning Cultural Heritage. The objective of this study is to analyse the regulation of naming rights on public facilities with cultural heritage status and to identify any differences in the application of trademark law in the cases of Semarang Tawang Station and Cirebon Kejaksan Station. The study employs a normative juridical method, utilising secondary data collection techniques and is supported by tertiary legal materials, employing a legislative, analytical and comparative approach. The results of the study indicate a discrepancy in the regulatory framework for naming rights concerning cultural heritage, leading to legal ambiguity due to inconsistent implementation. This is exemplified by the contrasting outcomes at Semarang Tawang Station, where the naming rights agreement with Bank Jateng was successfully executed, and at Cirebon Kejaksan Station, where the agreement was terminated despite both stations possessing cultural heritage status. The study recommends the introduction of comprehensive special regulations to harmonise the protection of exclusive trademark rights with the preservation of the identity and historical value of cultural heritage sites.

Indonesia has a rich cultural heritage, one of which is batik, which has become a national cultural heritage and is recognized by UNESCO as a world intangible cultural heritage. Along with the development of digital technology and the increasingly dynamic needs of society, innovations in the form of digital batik have emerged, opening new opportunities in the preservation and development of traditional batik motifs. Digital batik not only allows efficiency in the production process but also expands the reach of creative expression through the exploration of new, more modern forms, colors, and media. This creative research aims to explore the shape and color of the female beetle (Coccinellidae) as inspiration in creating digital batik motifs that are then applied to mugs using digital printing techniques. The method used is exploratory with an artistic practice approach, involving stages ranging from visual concept design, digital sketching, color exploration, to the printing process on ceramic media. The design process was carried out digitally using the Ibis Paint application on a mobile device, which demonstrates that batik works can be created flexibly with the help of simple technology. The results of this creation are 15 digital batik works with the visual character of the female beetle that have been artistically modified without losing their distinctive shape and striking color. Each design measures 20 x 8 cm and is printed on a cylindrical mug with a curved surface. This research demonstrates that natural elements such as insects can be a rich source of aesthetic inspiration for developing contemporary batik motifs. Furthermore, this work demonstrates that modern technology can play a crucial role in maintaining the relevance and appeal of traditional arts like batik in the era of globalization and digitalization.
