Drug abuse in Indonesia is a form of social deviance influenced by psychological pressure, structural conditions, and weak social ties. This phenomenon is not only related to legal aspects but also arises as a response to stress, anxiety, and negative emotional experiences. Theories such as self-medication, escapism, Durkheim and Merton's Anomie, and Agnew's General Strain Theory suggest that drug abuse behavior can develop due to imbalanced norms, social tension, and an individual's inability to cope with life's pressures. In inmates, these factors are exacerbated by challenging social and economic experiences prior to their incarceration, increasing the risk of involvement in drug use and trafficking. This study emphasizes the need for a multidimensional approach to understanding this deviance and supporting rehabilitation and social reintegration efforts. Strengthening the roles of families, communities, and educational institutions in preventing drug abuse is crucial for providing ongoing support. A deeper understanding of the patterns of individual involvement in drug abuse is key to designing more effective prevention programs, based on psychological, social, and structural approaches to reduce the long-term impact of drug abuse on society.

This study aims to analyze how Islamic education policy in Indonesia functions as a social mechanism in shaping and maintaining societal integration amidst modern social change. Based on Émile Durkheim's functionalism theory, this study views Islamic education as an institution that plays a vital role in maintaining moral order, social solidarity, and preventing symptoms of anomie resulting from an imbalance between traditional values and the demands of modernity. The approach used is qualitative with an exploratory-descriptive orientation, with data collection techniques through literature studies of policy documents, institutional reports, and related scientific research results. The analysis is conducted descriptively and analytically to interpret the social function of the policy based on the concepts of social solidarity, division of labor, and anomie. The results show that policies such as madrasah integration, religious moderation programs, and teacher professionalization have a manifest function in expanding access to education, increasing social mobility, strengthening gender equality, and strengthening cohesion between religious communities. However, latent functions are also found in the form of bureaucratization of educational institutions, resource inequality, and value resistance among local communities. These findings confirm that Islamic education policy operates ambivalently: as an integrative instrument that strengthens social solidarity, but also as an arena for value negotiation between tradition and modernity. Therefore, Islamic education policy needs to be directed in a more contextual and participatory manner to optimally function as an agent of inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable social transformation for modern Indonesian society.

The phenomenon of teenage brawls in the Manggarai area, South Jakarta, reflects deviant actions influenced by social and cultural conditions in society. These disputes are triggered by a number of factors, such as competition between groups, lack of parental supervision, limited access to positive activities, and provocations carried out through social media platforms. In this case, Robert K. Merton's anomie theory is applied to analyze how the mismatch between social goals and legitimate means drives teenagers to take the path of violence in order to gain social recognition and group solidarity. This study applies a qualitative descriptive approach using in-depth interview techniques and participant observation of community leaders in RW 04, RW 05, and RW 12. The research findings show that brawls in Manggarai are more than just juvenile delinquent behavior, but are a form of response to social pressure and lack of opportunities for self-realization. The social consequences of these brawls include psychological trauma, social stigma, and disruption to the stability of the surrounding environment. However, the local community has tried to prevent this by implementing a religion-based approach, skills training, and strengthening coordination between regions. This study emphasizes that structural interventions and community-based approaches are key to addressing the root causes of brawls in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.

The viral phenomenon of #IndonesiaGelap on social media in early 2025 reflects symptoms of socio-political disorganization in Indonesia. This hashtag symbolizes public and student unrest concerning the crisis of institutional legitimacy, weakened regulatory functions, and the erosion of public trust. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, focusing on student protests at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) as a response to perceived political injustice. Using the framework of structural functionalism and Émile Durkheim’s concept of anomie, the movement is interpreted as an adaptive response to systemic failure in providing legitimate channels for justice and democracy. Although it has not resulted in direct policy change, the movement has raised collective awareness, expanded public discourse, and reaffirmed the role of students as agents of change in the digital age. The study recommends collaboration among students, government, and civil society to create a more inclusive and responsive socio-political system.

A brand is one of the most valuable intellectual assets in the business sector, serving not only as a product identity but also as a reflection of reputation and quality. However, the increasing phenomenon of brand infringement indicates the urgent need for stronger and more effective legal protection. Brand infringement brings various negative consequences, including loss of consumer trust, unfair competition, and significant financial losses for brand owners. This study aims to analyze brand infringement from a criminological perspective, identify causal factors, and evaluate the role of law in addressing such violations. The research employs normative legal methods through analysis of statutory regulations, legal and criminological theories, and a literature-based approach using secondary data obtained from books, journals, and legal documents. The findings reveal that criminology provides relevant insights through theories such as Rational Choice Theory, which explains that perpetrators calculate the risks and benefits before committing the violation, and Anomie Strain Theory, which highlights how the inability to achieve economic or social goals legally can drive individuals or groups to commit brand infringement. The classification of violations includes imitation, counterfeiting, misuse, and unlawful exploitation of brand rights. Several causal factors were identified, including weak legal supervision, limited enforcement, and the high consumer demand for cheaper counterfeit products. Furthermore, the study underlines the essential role of the criminal justice system in addressing brand infringement through the enforcement of criminal, civil, and administrative sanctions as regulated under Law Number 20 of 2016 on Trademarks and Geographical Indications. In conclusion, brand infringement is not merely a legal issue but also a criminological problem that requires comprehensive handling through effective law enforcement, stronger supervision, and increased public awareness to protect intellectual property and ensure fair business practices.

The phenomenon of hoaxes in the digital era has become a serious threat to social stability, democracy, and national security. Although the government has implemented various regulations, such as the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE), the spread of hoaxes is still difficult to control. This article analyzes the development of legal awareness in overcoming hoaxes in Indonesia from a criminological perspective. With a literature study approach, this study highlights the weak legal awareness of the community as the main factor in the spread of hoaxes. Empirical studies show that political hoaxes dominate, with 55.5% of the total hoaxes identified in 2023, while 65% of hoaxes spread through closed WhatsApp groups. Criminological analysis uses several theories, such as the Theory of Crime Routines, Anomie Theory, and Differential Association Theory, which explain how weak social control and low legal culture make it easier for individuals to be involved in the spread of hoaxes. The results of this study recommend strategies to increase legal awareness through the integration of digital literacy in education, collaboration between the government and digital platforms, and strengthening policy-based regulations such as the NetzDG Law in Germany. With a systematic and data-based approach, it is hoped that public legal awareness will increase, so that it can reduce the spread of hoaxes and create a healthier and more responsible digital environment.
