The ability to describe graphs accurately in English is an essential academic skill for EFL learners, particularly in higher education contexts where students are required to interpret and communicate visual data. However, many learners still experience difficulties in producing grammatically accurate graph descriptions. This study aims to investigate the level of grammatical accuracy demonstrated by EFL learners in graph description tasks and identify the grammatical aspects that require further improvement. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research analyzed 30 samples of students’ written graph descriptions produced by undergraduate learners. The analysis focused on several grammatical aspects, including subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, article usage, sentence structure, prepositions, and punctuation. The findings reveal that students frequently struggle with subject–verb agreement and article usage, while punctuation errors occurred less frequently. The study highlights that grammatical accuracy remains an important challenge for EFL learners in academic writing tasks involving data interpretation. Therefore, it is recommended that grammar instruction be integrated more intensively into graph description activities in English classes. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective teaching strategies in academic writing instruction for EFL learners.

Arabic language learning is influenced not only by cognitive ability but also by students’ learning characteristics, including affective, social, and physiological dimensions, particularly the phenomenon of language anxiety that often hinders language performance. This study aims to analyze the relationship between students’ learning characteristics and the emergence of language anxiety in Arabic language learning, as well as to formulate its implications for instructional strategies. This research employs a qualitative approach through a conceptual study based on relevant literature concerning learning characteristics and language anxiety. The findings indicate that variations in students’ characteristics contribute to different levels of anxiety across the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Language anxiety is multidimensional and affects students’ participation, motivation, and academic performance. Therefore, Arabic language instruction should be designed using differentiated, communicative, and student-centered approaches while fostering a supportive learning environment. The study highlights the importance of the teacher’s role as a facilitator who understands students’ cognitive and affective dynamics in order to create more effective, humanistic, and responsive Arabic language learning.

The ability to read the Qur’an is a fundamental competence that must be possessed by every Muslim student. However, in educational practice at schools, various problems are still found, particularly the low level of Qur’an reading ability among some students, accompanied by learning boredom. One of the contributing factors to this condition is the use of a single, monotonous, and less varied teaching method. This article aims to examine the problems related to students’ ability to read the Qur’an and the learning boredom that arises due to the implementation of a single method in instruction, as well as to offer practical solutions that can be implemented by educators. The writing method of this article uses a literature review approach and reflection on teaching practice. The results of the study show that a single teaching method tends to reduce students’ learning motivation, hinder active engagement, and slow down the improvement of Qur’an reading skills. Therefore, it is necessary to implement more varied, interactive, and contextual teaching methods, such as game-based learning, group work, and the use of innovative instructional media. Thus, it is expected that students’ ability to read the Qur’an can improve and learning boredom can be effectively minimized.

Dinamika Pembelajaran : Jurnal Pendidikan dan bahasa 2026 Lembaga Pengembangan Kinerja Dosen

This study examines the integration of critical reading and argumentative writing skills in Indonesian language courses at Universitas Muhammadiyah Maumere as a strategic effort to strengthen students’ academic literacy. In the digital era, university students are increasingly exposed to fragmented information, superficial reading practices, and non academic language use, which significantly affect their ability to construct logical and well supported academic arguments. This research aims to describe learning practices, identify key challenges, and analyze the implications of integrating critical reading and argumentative writing within higher education contexts. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using classroom observations and in-depth interviews with lecturers and students. The findings reveal that students initially experience difficulties in evaluating sources, formulating arguments, and maintaining coherence in academic writing. However, the integration of critical reading activities with structured argumentative writing tasks contributes to improved analytical thinking, clarity of reasoning, and academic language use. The study also highlights the central role of lecturers in scaffolding learning processes and fostering reflective academic practices. The findings imply that integrating critical reading and argumentative writing is essential for developing students’ academic identity and intellectual responsibility, particularly in responding to contemporary challenges in higher education and digital literacy.

This study examines the implementation of Indonesian Language learning in higher education as a foundation for developing students’ academic literacy within an Outcome Based Education (OBE) framework. The research is motivated by serious concerns regarding students’ low academic writing ability, weak critical reading skills, and inconsistent use of academic language, which hinder the formation of academic culture at universities. The objective of this study is to describe and interpret the learning process, challenges, and outcomes of Indonesian Language courses in fostering academic literacy. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted intensively over a three-week period. Data were collected through classroom observations, in depth interviews with lecturers and students, and document analysis of lesson plans, teaching materials, and students’ academic assignments. The findings reveal that although the course design conceptually aligns with OBE principles, its classroom implementation has not fully emphasized reflective processes, critical engagement, and consistent academic language practice. Learning activities tend to focus on task completion rather than on the development of academic thinking processes. The study implies that Indonesian Language learning should be strengthened through reflective, contextual, and process oriented strategies to enhance students’ academic literacy and academic identity. These findings contribute theoretically to studies on academic literacy and practically to the improvement of Indonesian Language instruction in higher education.

This study aims to explain the application of various differentiated learning techniques based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to improve analytical and writing skills related to procedural texts among junior high school students. This research is based on students' lack of ability to understand and compose procedural texts methodically and in accordance with language conventions, which is caused by the prevalence of conventional teacher-centered learning. This study used a descriptive qualitative methodology involving seventh-grade students from a junior high school that has adopted the PBL model in Indonesian language subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the application of PBL along with differentiated learning and TPACK increased student engagement, accommodated diverse learning styles, and fostered critical thinking, analytical abilities, and collaborative skills. Learning became more meaningful and relevant, enabling students to compose procedural texts more effectively. This study recommends the application of the PBL model with differentiation as an innovative strategy to improve the quality of Indonesian language education in junior high schools.

This study aims to identify and analyze effective learning strategies for improving Qur’an reading and writing skills among elementary school students. The ability to read and write the Qur’an serves as an essential foundation for students’ spiritual, moral, and cognitive development, shaping their Islamic character from an early age. This research employs a descriptive approach using a literature study method that reviews various sources, including books, journals, and previous studies related to Qur’an learning at the elementary school level. The findings indicate that a combination of several innovative strategies proves to be highly effective in enhancing Qur’an literacy skills. These strategies include the use of engaging and interactive digital learning media, the application of contextual learning approaches that connect Qur’anic teachings to students’ daily lives, and the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, strengthening students’ intrinsic motivation through a supportive and religious learning environment plays a crucial role in maintaining learning interest and discipline. The integrated implementation of these strategies not only improves students’ technical ability to read and write the Qur’an but also reinforces their character, responsibility, and spiritual awareness in the context of Islamic education at the elementary level.
