Food waste is still a significant problem, affecting food security, the environment, and the global economy. More than 53% of food produced becomes waste. Food waste worldwide totals 1.3 trillion annually. One of the districts with a high food waste rate is Banyumas. The most significant contributor to waste in the Banyumas region in 2021 was food waste, accounting for 39.85%, with much of it generated by restaurants. Restaurants play an essential role in managing food waste, as most food discarded at the preparation stage cannot be reused. This study aims to analyze the relationship between demographics and food waste reduction to support a digital technology approach from a restaurant perspective. This study used quantitative methods. The respondents of this study were 100 restaurants located in Banyumas, including A La Carte, Ramesan, Tegal, and Padang, and the data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results show that demographic factors, including income, age, restaurant opening hours, and the prices of best-selling foods, influence food waste in restaurants. The recommendation is for restaurants to prepare and plan menus. This will affect food prices, opening hours, and revenue. Some restaurants can increase their knowledge of handling food waste.

Background:Flooding is one of the most common environmental problems in residential areas and is closely related to poor community awareness of waste management. Improper waste disposal can clog drainage systems, increase the risk of flooding, and lead to various environmental health problems. Objective: This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and awareness regarding waste management and environmental health as an effort to prevent flooding in Panompuan Jae Village. Methods: The activity was conducted on May 22, 2026, at the Panompuan Jae Village Prayer House involving 15 women from a local religious study group. The educational methods included lectures, discussions, and interactive question-and-answer sessions. The materials covered waste classification, household waste management, environmental health, and the relationship between environmental cleanliness and flooding. Results: The activity improved participants’ understanding of proper waste management. Participants were able to distinguish between organic and inorganic waste and understood appropriate waste handling practices. They actively participated in the discussion and showed an initial commitment to disposing of waste properly and maintaining environmental cleanliness. Conclusion: The community education program successfully improved public knowledge and awareness regarding waste management and environmental health, supporting flood prevention efforts in Panompuan Jae Village.

The 2025 Real Work Lectures use the Berdampak model (Real Work Lectures based on Community Impactful). The theme of our group's Community Service Program is the problem of household waste management in Bakalan Village, Gondang District, Mojokerto Regency, which requires proper handling. Open burning of waste causes air pollution and other adverse effects. In an effort to overcome this problem, KKN students have initiated the use of used barrels as a place to burn waste with minimal smoke. This program includes observation and socialization related to innovative technology in waste management. Through this activity, the community is introduced to the use of trash cans that reduce smoke pollution and produce briquettes as an alternative fuel from combustion residues. The program results show an increase in community awareness of waste management and the potential for reducing negative environmental impacts. This innovation opens up opportunities for the community to become a model of independent and sustainable waste management, which can be applied in other villages.

The management of expired medications in community health centers (Puskesmas) is crucial because it directly relates to the quality of healthcare services, patient safety, and environmental impact. Medications that have passed their expiration date no longer guarantee effectiveness and safety, and therefore require proper handling in accordance with applicable regulations. Furthermore, improper management can lead to waste and the risk of misuse. This study was conducted to describe the expired medication management system in community health centers (Puskesmas) in Pemalang Regency, specifically regarding separation, recording, reporting, and destruction. This study used a descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach to describe the conditions in the field. The data used were primary data obtained through direct observation and interviews with pharmacists at the community health centers. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling at five community health centers: Losari, Purwoharjo, Sarwodadi, Rowosari, and Kebandaran. The instrument used was an observation sheet as an interview guide, while the collected data was analyzed descriptively to provide an overview of the implementation of expired medication management. The study results indicate that all community health centers (Puskesmas) have properly separated, recorded, and reported expired medications in accordance with regulations. Overall, the management of expired drugs in health centers in the Pemalang Regency area has been running well and in accordance with the guidelines of the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Regulation Number 20 of 2025 concerning Good Distribution Practices for Medicines (CDOB), reaching 100%.

This study aims to design and develop a waste complaint information system at the Environmental Agency of West Sumba Regency to improve the effectiveness of public services. The current problem lies in the manual complaint process, which leads to delays in handling reports, poor data documentation, and limited service transparency. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The system development adopts the Waterfall method, which consists of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance stages. The system is modeled using Unified Modeling Language (UML), including use case diagrams, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to provide a structured representation of the system. This approach is considered effective as it ensures a systematic and well-organized development process. The results indicate that the developed system facilitates the public in submitting complaints online and assists the agency in managing complaint data in an integrated manner. Furthermore, the system enhances response time, transparency, and service efficiency. Therefore, this waste complaint information system can serve as a technological solution to improve the quality of public services.

This study aims to analyze The Responsibility of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) TC. Hilers Maumere regarding the practice of burning medical waste and to examine its conformity with the provisions of Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health and other regulations related to hazardous waste management. Medical waste management is an important issue because improper handling may cause environmental pollution and pose serious risks to public health. This research employs an empirical legal research method with a descriptive approach, examining how the law operates in society through field data collection and analysis of relevant legal regulations. The results show that RSUD TC. Hilers Maumere implements a waste management system that includes the separation of household waste, liquid waste, and hazardous and toxic waste (B3). Medical waste is categorized and packaged according to its type, weighed, temporarily stored in medical waste storage facilities, and then destroyed using an incinerator or transported by authorized third parties. However, the practice of burning medical waste must be strictly supervised to prevent environmental impacts and potential legal violations. Therefore, stronger supervision, compliance with medical waste management standards, and the implementation of firm legal responsibility are necessary to protect public health and environmental sustainability.

This community service was carried out in Margaluyu Village, Kasemen District, Serang City. This community service program was prepared based on the problem of increasing the amount of household plastic waste in Margaluyu Village which until now has not been managed optimally. As an innovative effort in handling this problem, the community service team held a training activity on making wind hole breeze breeze blocks using mixed materials in the form of shredded plastic and silica sand. This community service program not only focuses on efforts to reduce the level of environmental pollution, but also directs inorganic waste to be processed into building materials that have aesthetic value as well as high benefits for local residents. The activity was carried out with a focus on strengthening the role of youth groups and fathers as the main drivers of the creative economy at the village level. In the demonstration session, participants were invited to directly practice steps ranging from plastic sorting, the enumeration process, to roster printing techniques that require high precision. In addition, the team also provided technical assistance and simulations of production cost calculations so that participants understood the potential economic value of the product. Participatory discussions were conducted to explore field challenges, while the final evaluation showed an improvement in the participants' skills and environmental awareness.
