The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is a strategic initiative by the Indonesian government to address the long-standing issues of malnutrition and stunting, which have significantly hindered human resource (HR) development in Indonesia. The program aims to improve children's nutrition and reduce stunting by providing free nutritious meals, particularly in areas with limited access to healthy food. This study aims to analyze the legal framework of MBG, its effectiveness in achieving its goals, and its impact on national development. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes the implementation of MBG through document analysis, interviews with relevant stakeholders, and field observations. The findings highlight challenges within the program, including imbalanced food distribution, inadequate infrastructure in remote areas, and suboptimal food quality control, which resulted in several food poisoning incidents in 2025. Nevertheless, the program has a positive economic impact by empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) involved in food supply. The study suggests strengthening the monitoring system, improving budget management, and better coordination between government sectors and communities to maximize the success of MBG. It also emphasizes the importance of nutrition education campaigns to support the program's goals. Overall, MBG is a crucial step toward creating a healthier and more productive generation, supporting the achievement of Indonesia's Golden Generation by 2045..

Nutritional problems among children under five remain a public health concern in Indonesia, including in the working area of Semitau Public Health Center, Kapuas Hulu Regency. Nutritional status is an important indicator in assessing child growth and development. Nutritional disorders such as undernutrition, severe undernutrition, and stunting may have long-term impacts on health, cognitive development, and productivity. Therefore, regular monitoring of nutritional status is necessary to determine the nutritional profile of children under five in the Semitau Public Health Center area. Objective: This study aimed to describe the nutritional status of children under five based on Weight-for-Age (W/A), Height-for-Age (H/A), and Weight-for-Height (W/H) indicators, as well as to describe the characteristics of mothers and children. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a retrospective approach. Data were obtained from the recap of child weighing results in March 2025 in the working area of Semitau Public Health Center. The study population consisted of 395 children aged 0–59 months, with 351 children meeting the inclusion criteria selected using total sampling technique. Data were analyzed univariately to obtain the frequency distribution of nutritional status. Results: Based on W/A, 77% of children had normal nutritional status, 13.5% were undernourished, 6.1% were severely undernourished, and 1.0% were overweight. Based on H/A, 62.1% were normal, 20.8% were stunted, 11.5% were severely stunted, and 1.8% were tall. Based on W/H, 76.4% had normal nutritional status, 7.9% were undernourished, 2.0% were severely undernourished, 3.1% were overweight, and 2.6% were obese. Conclusion: The majority of children under five in the Semitau Public Health Center area had normal nutritional status. However, the stunting prevalence of 32.3% remains high according to WHO classification. Strengthening nutritional monitoring through integrated health posts and providing parental education on balanced nutrition are recommended.

Stunting remains a major nutritional problem in Indonesia, impacting the quality of children's growth and development, both in the short and long term. This impact not only affects physical growth but also affects children's endurance and future productivity. Although the national prevalence of stunting shows a downward trend, cases of stunting are still found in various regions, including Banyusari Village, Tegalrejo District. The stunting problem in this region is closely related to parents' low understanding of fulfilling balanced nutrition, especially protein intake, which plays a crucial role in the growth and development of toddlers. This community service activity aims to increase parents' knowledge and awareness in stunting prevention efforts through applicable nutrition education. The activity was carried out by students of the Community Service Program (KKN) of Tidar University. The method used was a socialization method of presenting material on stunting prevention combined with fun cooking practices as a learning medium for serving balanced nutritious meals. In addition, this activity was also accompanied by the provision of Supplementary Food (PMT). The results of the activity showed that participants participated enthusiastically and were able to understand the material presented. The educational approach of fun cooking has been deemed effective in increasing parents' understanding of balanced nutrition and encouraging a shift in mindset from the "just to get full" paradigm to ensuring quality nutrition. This activity is expected to become a practical and sustainable alternative for nutrition education in supporting community-based stunting prevention efforts.

Malnutrition and stunting among children under five remain major public health challenges in developing countries, including Indonesia. These conditions are associated with increased morbidity, mortality, impaired cognitive development, and reduced productivity in adulthood. Stunting reflects chronic nutritional deficiencies, while severe malnutrition indicates acute or prolonged inadequate nutrient intake, often exacerbated by infections, poor caregiving practices, and unfavorable socioeconomic conditions. This case report aims to describe the clinical condition, contributing factors, management, and outcomes of a 14-month-old female toddler diagnosed with severe malnutrition and stunting without complications in Blang Dalam Geuteung Village, Nisam Subdistrict, North Aceh Regency. The assessment was conducted using a family medicine approach, incorporating detailed history taking, physical examination, anthropometric measurements, and nutritional status evaluation based on World Health Organization Z-score indicators. Interventions included nutritional rehabilitation through appropriate dietary intake, family education on balanced nutrition and proper feeding practices, routine growth monitoring, and optimization of primary healthcare services. The results showed gradual improvement in the child’s nutritional status, evidenced by weight gain, better appetite, and improved feeding patterns following the intervention. This case highlights the importance of early detection, comprehensive family-centered management, and continuous monitoring in addressing malnutrition and stunting at the primary care level. Strengthening community-based interventions, improving caregiver knowledge, and enhancing collaboration between healthcare providers and families are essential to reduce the burden of malnutrition and support optimal child growth and development.

Malnutrition in children remains a serious public health challenge in Indonesia because it directly impacts growth, cognitive development, and the child's future quality of life. Parents play a crucial role in maintaining children's health, particularly in providing balanced nutrition and preventing nutritional problems such as stunting and malnutrition. This study aims to analyze the role of parents in maintaining children's health due to malnutrition based on a literature review. The method used is a qualitative literature study, through a search of various written sources in the form of scientific journals, articles, and relevant books obtained from Google Scholar. The results of the study indicate that the level of knowledge, education, parenting patterns, socioeconomic conditions, and active involvement of parents in monitoring children's growth significantly influence children's nutritional status and health. Parents play a role as providers of nutritious food, nutrition educators, role models of healthy lifestyles, and regular monitors of children's growth and development. Parents' lack of understanding of balanced nutrition, the habit of consuming instant foods, and minimal participation in health programs are risk factors for malnutrition in children. Therefore, increasing parental education and involvement through a family-based approach is an important strategy in efforts to prevent and address child nutrition problems sustainably.

The nutritional status of toddlers is an important indicator that reflects the level of public health in a region. This study aims to analyze the nutritional status of children aged 0–5 years in Teupin Desa Teupin Gapeuh Kecamatan Tanah Pasir Kabupaten Aceh Utara. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method using secondary data obtained from health records and posyandu (integrated health post) reports. The study involved a total of 60 children under five, consisting of 33 boys and 27 girls. The findings revealed that based on the weight-for-age (W/A) index, 81.7% of children had normal nutritional status, 13.3% were undernourished, and 3.3% were severely undernourished. Based on height-for-age (H/A), 90.0% were normal, 5.0% were short, and 3.3% were very short. According to the weight-for-height (W/H) index, 83.3% were normal, 11.7% were undernourished, and 5.0% were at risk of overweight. Furthermore, the prevalence of stunting, wasting, and underweight were 8.3%, 11.7%, and 16.7% respectively. These results indicate that although most children have normal nutritional status, some still experience nutritional deficiencies that require special attention. Therefore, health workers and local governments need to strengthen nutrition education programs, increase community awareness of balanced nutrition, and improve monitoring of child growth to prevent malnutrition in the area

Toddler age is often called the golden period because during this period brain nerve development occurs, especially myelination, as well as a critical period. The golden period can be achieved if toddlers' nutritional needs are optimally met. On the other hand, if babies and toddlers do not get the food they need, the golden period will change into a critical period, thus disrupting their growth and development. The level of education of parents will affect the health and well-being of children, because this is inseparable from the nutritional status of children. Mothers with a high level of education will have a clearer opportunity to absorb information compared to mothers with less or no education. With a good level of education, it is hoped that a mother will be willing and able to behave well in order to improve her child's nutritional status. This Community Service activity aims to provide health education on balanced nutrition to reduce stunting in the community, especially mothers with toddlers in Desa Cangguk, Kecamatan Tanah Pasir, Kabupaten Aceh Utara. This activity used a participatory approach involving lecturers, students, health workers, and the community. The results showed an increase in public understanding and awareness of stunting prevention. It is hoped that this activity will raise public awareness about balanced nutrition for children

Nutritional problems in toddlers remain a public health challenge in Indonesia, including in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan. The 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data shows a high prevalence of malnutrition, severe malnutrition, and stunting in toddlers, with data showing that based on the body weight index (BB/A) the prevalence of malnourished toddlers is 3.9% while 13.8% of toddlers are undernourished. Based on the height-for-age (H/A) index, there are 11.5% of toddlers with very short nutritional status and 19.3% of toddlers with stunted nutritional status. Meanwhile, based on the weight-for-height (BB/H) index, the proportion of very wasted children is 3.5%, undernourished children are 6.7%, and overweight children are 8% (Riskesdas, 2018). Because of these problems, early nutrition education efforts are needed. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of toddler mothers about the importance of balanced nutrition for children, especially through the use of UHT milk as a nutritional supplement, as well as strengthening the role of integrated health posts (Posyandu) in monitoring child growth and development. Thus, this community service activity contributes to raising public awareness of the importance of meeting toddler nutritional needs and is expected to support government programs to reduce the prevalence of stunting in Tarakan City.

Nutritional problems can occur due to two factors, namely direct factors and indirect factors. Direct factors are unbalanced nutritional intake and infectious diseases. The achievement of Exclusive Breastfeeding in Pesawaran Regency during 2014-2019 fluctuated. In 2014, babies who received exclusive breastfeeding were 30.19%, in 2015 it decreased to 20.85%, in 2016 it increased to 49.76% and in 2019 it was 50.48% and still below the expected national target of 80% 11. Based on the results of a pre-survey of 30 breastfeeding mothers, there were 17 mothers (56.6%) with an average age of 15-25 years and most of them with low levels of education who did not provide exclusive breastfeeding on the grounds that the mother worked and did not get support from her husband to provide exclusive breastfeeding (Pesawaran Regency Health Office). The purpose of this community service activity is to increase mothers' knowledge about fulfilling balanced nutrition and exclusive breastfeeding so that toddlers are free from stunting.
