Student interest in becoming a teacher remains a major challenge in preparing prospective professional teachers, especially amidst increasingly complex changes and demands in education. This study aims to analyze the influence of the School Field Introduction (PLP) experience and perceptions of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program on student interest in becoming a teacher. This study used a quantitative approach with a multiple linear regression method. The population in this study were all students of the Economics Education Study Program at Surabaya State University, intake 2020–2022, with a sample of 150 students selected purposively. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire instrument distributed online via Google Form. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression tests to examine the partial and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The results of the analysis indicate that partially, the PLP experience does not have a significant effect on interest in becoming a teacher. Conversely, student perceptions of the PPG program show a positive and significant effect on interest in becoming a teacher. Simultaneously, the PLP experience and PPG perceptions significantly influence student interest in becoming a teacher. These findings indicate that perceptions of PPG have a more dominant contribution in shaping interest in becoming a teacher than PLP experience. Therefore, it is crucial for educational institutions to improve the understanding and quality of PPG program implementation to encourage students' interest in pursuing a career as teachers. This research provides practical implications for curriculum designers and teacher education program managers to place greater emphasis on students' perceptions and readiness for PPG in order to produce professional and highly motivated teachers.

Introduction to School Field (PLP) is an academic program designed to provide students with direct experience in the world of education. This program aims to enable students to understand the real situation in schools, improve their teaching skills, and hone their professional abilities as prospective educators. In the implementation of PLP at SMKN 6 Pekanbaru, four students participated in this activity from January 13 to February 22, 2025. They were given the opportunity to teach English to students in grades 10 (RPL 1 & 2), 10 (TE 1 & 2), and 11 (MEKA 1 & 2). Through this program, students can gain valuable experience in managing classes, compiling learning tools, and interacting directly with students and educators. In addition, the PLP program also provides benefits for schools in improving the quality of learning. This article will discuss the implementation of PLP in detail, starting from the methods used, the results obtained, to the benefits felt by students and learners.

Education plays a crucial role in improving human resource quality to achieve national goals. Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI), through the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Informatics, equips students with academic and pedagogical competencies to produce professional future teachers. The School Field Introduction Program (PLP) at Ma Dar-El Hikmah Pekanbaru serves as an experiential learning platform that enables students to observe school culture, build competencies, and understand the teaching-learning process directly. This study employs observation, interviews, and documentation methods to provide in-depth insights into the teacher’s role in managing the educational environment. The findings of this program are expected to enhance students’ understanding of the education sector and develop their skills as professional and adaptive future educators.

This research aims to provide a better understanding of the school field for students at SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru. This activity is expected to broaden horizons and enhance the knowledge and competencies of students in the field of education. Through observation and interviews with teachers, students can learn about various aspects of learning and educational management that take place in schools. The methods used in this research include the collection of notes and documentation, where students reorganize and explain what they have learned. One of the observation activities conducted was an interview with the teacher regarding daily activities at the school, from student arrival to dismissal time. This activity aims to provide students with direct experience in understanding the educational process at school. In addition, this research also provides benefits to educational institutions as a reference for improving the quality of education, facilities and infrastructure, as well as learning activities. Thus, it is hoped that the results of this research can contribute to the development of better education in the future. Overall, this research is not only beneficial for students in enhancing their competencies but also for educational institutions in their efforts to improve and develop the existing education system.

This study aims to identify how to understand the characteristics of students through the implementation of the School Field Introduction Activity Program at SMAS PGRI Maumere, as well as analyze the attitude of students during class hours and outside of class hours. This research uses a qualitative method with a narrative approach. Primary data was obtained through interviews with resource persons, while secondary data was collected from relevant references such as journals and theses related to learner characteristics. The data collection techniques used included interviews and observations. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results show that learning ability, individual potential, the surrounding environment, the use of interesting learning techniques, and effective teaching methods are important aspects in the education process. In addition, students showed the ability to maintain positive relationships and mutual respect both inside and outside the classroom.

Field Introduction Practice (PPL) is an activity carried out by students to get to know and understand directly field conditions related to the field of study being studied. This activity aims to provide practical experience to students so that they can apply the theory they have learned on campus to real situations in the field. Field introduction practices are often carried out in various disciplines, such as education. Field introduction practice aims to get to know real conditions in the field. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di SD Negeri 4 Lakudo adalah untuk membantu mahasiswa menjadi lebih mahir dalam mengelola kegiatan Program Pengenalan Lapangan Prasekolah. Mahasiswa akan berlatih melakukan observasi langsung terhadap budaya sekolah, observasi untuk mengembangkan kompetensi, dan observasi langsung terhadap proses pembelajaran di kelas selama kegiatan pengabdian ini. Guru, staf dan dosen pembimbing di SD Negeri 4 Lakudo turut membimbing mahasiswa dalam melakukan kegiatan obsevasi ini sehingga dapat direalisasikan dalam kegiatan selanjutnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini menggunakan metode survey lapangan. Program ini melibatkan kepala sekolah dan guru SD Negeri 4 Lakudo. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan pencapaian yang sangat baik dari indikator yang ditetapkan untuk observasi, sikap, dan kedisiplinan. Dengan bobot skor 1048,34 dan nilai rata-rata 87,37,  Hal ini menandakan bahwa siswa dipersiapkan untuk melaksanakan praktik mengajar di SD Negeri 4 Lakudo dalam pelaksanaan Pengenalan Lapangan Prasekolah (PLP).
