Toxoplasmosis is a disease transmitted from animals to humans, caused by the protozoan parasiteToxoplasma gondii. The Toxoplasma gondii parasite has infected more than 60% of the world's population and2-51% in Indonesia. Women of childbearing age (15-45 years) are one of the risk groups for the transmission of infection by the Toxoplasma gondii parasite. A person's knowledge is influenced by various factors such as level of education, information, environment and culture. The purpose of this study was to compare the level of knowledge on prevention of toxoplasmosis in women of childbearing age in Lhokseumawe City. This research is a type of descriptive analytic research with a cross-sectional time approach. Samples were taken using a purposive sampling technique from women of childbearing age in Uteunkot Village and Kuala Meuraksa Village. The sample size was determined using the Snedecor & Cochran formula and the minimum sample size was 62 respondents in Uteunkot Village and 62 respondents in Kuala Meuraksa Village. The results of this study indicate that the majority of respondents in Uteunkot Village have a less knowledge level of 43.5% and the majority of respondents in Kuala Meuraksa Village also have a less knowledge level of 85.5%. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test. The results of statistical analysis showed a p value <0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there are differences in knowledge of toxoplasmosis prevention in women of childbearing age in rural villages and urban villages.

Malaria remains a major public health problem in Papua, Indonesia, with a high incidence rate and significant hematological complications. One of the main impacts of malaria infection is anemia caused by a decrease in hemoglobin levels. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between hemoglobin levels and malaria parasite species among patients at Sentani Health Center, Jayapura Regency. This was an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 50 malaria-positive patients confirmed by microscopic examination were included as samples. Data collected included gender, parasite species, nutritional status, hemoglobin level, and parasite count, analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α=0.05). The results showed that most respondents were male (54%) and predominantly infected by Plasmodium falciparum (66%). The majority had normal nutritional status (40%), and the distribution between normal and abnormal hemoglobin levels was equal (50% each). Statistical analysis revealed a significant association between body mass index and hemoglobin level (p=0.03), but no significant relationship between parasite species and hemoglobin level (p=0.145). These findings indicate that nutritional status plays a more dominant role in determining hemoglobin levels than parasite species variation. In conclusion, anemia among malaria patients in endemic regions is influenced not only by the infecting Plasmodium species but also by individual nutritional factors. Integrated interventions focusing on nutritional improvement and malaria control are essential to reduce anemia risk in endemic areas such as Papua. Stunting remains one of the major chronic nutritional problems in Indonesia, including in Oesapa Village, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This condition is not only caused by inadequate nutritional intake but is also closely related to chronic infections resulting from poor hygiene and sanitation, particularly intestinal parasitic diseases. To reduce the risk of parasitic infections and improve children’s nutritional status, preventive efforts through education and health promotion are essential.This community service activity aimed to increase public awareness and knowledge, especially among parents and caregivers of stunted children, regarding the importance of maintaining hygiene and sanitation to prevent intestinal parasitic diseases. The methods used included participatory approaches such as interactive lectures, group discussions, and practical demonstrations of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), food hygiene, clean water management, and household waste disposal. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test instruments to measure changes in participants’ knowledge.The activities, carried out from May to September 2025 in Oesapa Village, showed a significant improvement in community understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices. Participants demonstrated greater commitment to maintaining environmental cleanliness and adopting healthier daily behaviors. Continuous educational efforts and multisectoral support are needed to help reduce the prevalence of stunting in the region

Pneumonia is a lung infection that causes the air sacs to fill with fluid or pus. This disease can be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites, with varying degrees of severity depending on the cause and condition of the sufferer. Symptoms include cough, fever, and shortness of breath. Data obtained from the Batam City Health Office of pneumonia in 2023, there were 1,509 cases of pneumonia, the most cases were found in Batam City (1,182 cases), while the fewest cases were recorded in Lingga Regency (5 cases). This Professional Scientific Paper aims to provide medical-surgical nursing care with the application of chest physiotherapy to Ms. N to reduce the amount of sputum for pneumonia sufferers in the inpatient room at Harapan Bunda Hospital, Batam City in 2025. The method used in this Professional Scientific Paper is a case study conducted based on the stages of nursing care including assessment, data analysis, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and nursing evaluation. The results showed a decrease in sputum production on the third day, a decrease in fever, and an improvement in sleep patterns. Patients are expected to understand that chest physiotherapy can reduce sputum production.

Handwashing with Soap (CTPS) is the activity of cleaning hands using clean, running water and soap to remove dirt, oil, and various germs such as viruses, bacteria, and parasites that may cling to the skin. As one of the most effective, simplest, and most affordable methods of preventing infectious diseases, CTPS is highly important to practice consistently, especially among students at Public Elementary School 283 located in Waitomu Hamlet, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency. However, observations indicate that after school activities or playtime, several students still show reluctance to wash their hands, which may be influenced by low awareness, limited understanding of hygiene, insufficient supervision, or the absence of strong daily habits related to cleanliness. This issue reflects the need for more structured hygiene education, continuous reminders, and interactive learning methods to instill good handwashing habits. In addition, improving supporting facilities—such as accessible handwashing stations, adequate soap supply, and visual posters—can motivate students to practice CTPS more regularly. Strengthening CTPS awareness and habits is expected to reduce the risk of disease transmission, foster a healthier school environment, and encourage students to adopt lifelong hygiene practices that benefit both their personal well-being and the wider community.

Background: Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infectious diseases transmitted through sexual contact including vaginal, anal, oral intercourse and are caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites, either directly or indirectly. Half of the 15-24 year olds contribute to sexually transmitted infections in the world. Objective: so that adolescents in Bangun Rejo Village are able to independently maintain their reproductive health to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. Method: Providing education about the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases in adolescents. The number of adolescents is 30 people. Population: all adolescents in Hamlet II, Bangun Rejo Village. Sample: all populations or total sampling. Data is frequency distribution. Results: before education, adolescents' knowledge about the prevention of infectious diseases was mostly lacking as many as 12 people (40%) and a minority of good as many as 7 people (23.3%), while after education, the results obtained were a majority of good as many as 16 people (53.3%) and a minority of less as many as 5 people (16.7%). Conclusion; There was an increase in knowledge after education about early disease prevention about sexually transmitted diseases in adolescents in Bangun Rejo Village. Suggestion: Provide counseling facilities for adolescents regarding sexually transmitted infections.

Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), intracellular parasite that cause abortion in infected pregnant women with the parasite. Aim of the study: the present investigation aimed to assessment the prevalence of T. gondii in aborted women and evaluated level of interferon- gamma, Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and lactoferrin. Materials and methods: From September 2024 to May 2025, we examined 90 women, 70 of them spontaneous abortion, while an additional 20 blood samples were obtained from healthy individuals serving as controls, in Tikrit Teaching hospital and many private hospitals in Tikrit city. Result: The incidence of parasite infection in aborted women was 56 (80%) out of a total of 70%. The level of IFN, TLR2, and Lactoferrin in the group of aborted women infected with T. gondii (45.4 ±7.1, 17.04 ±2.28, 59.6±12.6), as compared with control group (19.4 ±2.12, 8.2 ±2.1, 29.2±9.4). Conclusion: The present study concluded increase prevalence of toxoplasma gondi in aborted woman may indicate the main cause of abortion. Furthermore, increase level of immunological parameters that may indicate resolve the parasite infection.

The shrimp farming industry in Indonesia is predominantly dominated by Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), also known as white shrimp. This shrimp species is favored due to its fast growth rate and high economic value. However, the intensive farming practices often lead to various diseases, particularly those caused by parasitic infections. Ectoparasitic infections can create wounds on the shrimp’s body, making it easier for other pathogens like fungi, bacteria, and viruses to invade. This study aims to identify the types and levels of ectoparasite infestations on Vannamei shrimp to understand their impact on shrimp health and farm productivity. The research method used is a literature review, gathering data from various sources such as scientific journals, books, research reports, and technical notes related to shrimp farming. The findings of the study show that the presence of ectoparasites can serve as an important indicator to assess the health of the farming environment. High levels of parasitic infestations indicate suboptimal environmental conditions, such as poor water quality or improper management practices. Therefore, early identification of ectoparasites is crucial to prevent the spread of diseases and ensure the sustainability of Vannamei shrimp farming in Indonesia.

Indonesia, with its rapid economic growth, is still haunted by persistent poverty problems. Inflation is like a parasite that sticks to economic growth, has the potential to worsen the poverty gap and hinder its overcoming. The aim of this research is to examine how economic growth and inflation in Indonesia affect the level of poverty in Indonesia. Panel data collected between 1994 and 2023 from 34 provinces in Indonesia is the data source. Multiple linear regression analysis is the technique used. The findings show that the number of poor people in Indonesia is not significantly affected by economic growth or inflation. Only 25.7% of the fluctuation in the number of poor people can be explained by the regression model, based on a coefficient of determination (R-square) of 0.257; the remaining 74.3% can be explained by other factors not taken into account in this study.

Cattle in Indonesia possess high reproductive potential, yet the widespread presence of parasites poses a serious threat to their health and productivity. The majority of cattle (99.81%) are traditionally managed by smallholder farmers, often leading to overlooked parasite management. Fascioliasis, caused by the genera Fasciola, Fascioloides, and Dicrocoelium, is a primary parasitic disease that hinders productivity, triggering reproductive disorders, stunted growth, and even mortality. Economic losses attributed to this disease were estimated at 500 billion rupiah annually in 1991, with prevalence once reaching 90%. This journal review synthesizes information from various literature, including journals, notes, and reports pertinent to the impact of parasites on cattle health and productivity in Indonesian smallholder farms. Indonesia's warm and humid tropical climate significantly supports the development of infective worm eggs and larvae. The importance of identifying risk factors and formulating effective prevention strategies is emphasized to optimize cattle productivity and mitigate socio-economic losses caused by parasites.

Infectious skin diseases are conditions where the skin is infected by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites that can be transmitted from one individual to another. These infections not only cause physical discomfort but can also lead to serious complications if left untreated. The aim of this health promotion is to increase public understanding of the causes, symptoms, transmission, prevention, and treatment of infectious skin diseases. The activity methodology is a one-group pre-post design by measuring knowledge before and after the counseling. The instrument used is a knowledge questionnaire related to the causes, symptoms, transmission, prevention, and treatment of infectious skin diseases. The results achieved after conducting counseling on "Beware! Infectious Skin Diseases: Healthy Together, Live Comfortably" at SMK IT Subulussalam experienced an increase from 58% to 74%.

Floods occur when normally dry land areas are inundated with large volumes of water, generally caused by prolonged heavy rainfall or water runoff from higher areas. Following floods, the risk of infectious diseases increases due to the presence of infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and other hazardous substances. Common post-flood diseases include acute respiratory infections (ARI), diarrhea, typhoid fever, leptospirosis, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), and skin diseases. This study aims to describe the characteristics of the community and their level of knowledge regarding efforts to prevent post-flood diseases in Dusun Nusupan. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with purposive sampling, involving 67 respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires. The results showed that the majority of respondents were in late adulthood, female, had a middle-level education, and most had previously experienced post-flood diseases. The community’s level of knowledge was generally good, with nearly all respondents demonstrating adequate understanding of preventive measures. However, the high incidence of post-flood diseases among respondents highlights that public health risks remain significant. These findings indicate the necessity of continuous education and the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors to minimize the health impacts of floods.

Malaria is a global health problem, particularly in tropical countries like Indonesia. Papua has 374 endemic districts/cities, with the highest number of malaria cases, with 14,586 cases, and Jayapura Regency in 2024 with 50,529 patients and 6,213 relapses. The high number of cases is due to the geographical conditions that favor mosquito breeding and the dormant state in the body. If treatment is not carried out correctly and thoroughly, it can lead to malaria relapse. The purpose of this study was to determine factors associated with relapse in malaria patients in the Harapan Community Health Center (Puskesmas) area, Jayapura Regency. This research was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. A total of 88 respondents were recruited using simple accidental sampling. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using chi-square and binary logistic regression. Based on the analysis, it was found that factors that were not related to recurrence in malaria patients in the Harapan Community Health Center, Jayapura Regency were age (p-value 1.000 > α 0.05), gender (p-value 0.855 > α 0.05), and education (p-value 0.124 > α 0.05). Factors related to recurrence in malaria patients in the Harapan Community Health Center, Jayapura Regency were occupation (p-value 0.032 or p < α 0.05), nutritional status (p-value 0.000 < α 0.05), and medication adherence (p-value 0.000 < α 0.05). Medication adherence was the dominant factor in recurrence in malaria patients at the Harapan Community Health Center (p-value 0.000 < 0.05). Malaria patients who do not comply with taking their medication cause the malaria parasite to become dormant in the body which can at any time cause malaria relapses and resistance to malaria drugs.

Based on global reports, there were 247 million malaria cases in 2021, increasing from 245 million cases in 2020. In Indonesia, the Ministry of Health recorded 254,055 malaria cases in 2020. Three provinces—Maluku, Papua, and West Papua—have not yet achieved malaria elimination. Malaria is an acute febrile disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite, transmitted to humans through bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. It remains a significant public health problem due to its impact on morbidity, mortality, and productivity in endemic areas. This study aimed to examine the relationship between nutritional status and malaria incidence among patients in the working area of Senggo Health Center. An analytical descriptive approach with a cross-sectional study design was applied. The study population included all malaria patients examined at Senggo Health Center, Citak Mitak District, Papua, totaling 559 patients in February. A sample of 243 respondents was selected using the Table for Determining Needed Size of a Random Sample. Results showed that most respondents suffered from mild malaria, and the majority had normal nutritional status. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between nutritional status and malaria incidence in the Senggo Health Center area. Respondents with poor nutritional status were more likely to experience malaria with severe symptoms compared to those with normal or good nutritional status. These findings highlight the critical role of nutrition in malaria prevention. Nutritional interventions should be integrated with vector control measures and public health education to reduce malaria incidence and improve community health. Improving nutritional status, particularly in endemic regions, is essential for enhancing immunity, reducing disease severity, and supporting overall malaria control efforts. Nutritional status significantly influences malaria incidence. Public health programs targeting nutritional improvement are necessary to complement existing malaria control strategies, reduce case numbers, and promote better health outcomes in endemic areas.

Malaria is one of the leading cause of illness and death worldwide. The prevalence of malaria cases in Indonesia in 2024 reached 543,965 positive cases and 34 deaths. Malaria is an infectious disease caused by parasites (protozoa) of the genus Plasmodium, which can be transmitted through the bite of Anopheles mosquitoes. Malaria is classified as a re-emerging disease, which refers to diseases that resurface due to natural phenomena, including environmental factors such as climate, temperature, and rainfall. The most effective way to prevent and control malaria is by breaking the transmission chain. Additionally, simple preventive measures that everyone in the community can take include avoiding or reducing mosquito bites, avoiding outdoor activities at night, sleeping under a mosquito net, applying mosquito repellent, installing screens on windows, cleaning mosquito breeding sites, and clearing bushes or dense vegetation around the house. In addressing clinical issues, medications can be used to prevent and stop clinical attacks.

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites and transmitted through the bites of female Anopheles mosquitoes. It remains a serious public health issue in various endemic regions, particularly in developing countries. This study aims to identify the factors associated with malaria incidence and evaluate the effectiveness of prevention and control programs that have been implemented. A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational research design was used, involving secondary data from the Health Office reports and primary data collected through field surveys in the endemic area of PT. Tandan Sawita Papua, Keerom Regency. The results showed that malaria incidence is associated with the use of mosquito nets and the use of mosquito repellents. The study concludes that an integrated approach to malaria control is essential, including community education, environmental improvements, and sustainable health policy support.

Malaria remains a significant global health problem, with approximately 247 million cases and 619,000 deaths worldwide in 2023. Indonesia, particularly in eastern regions such as Papua, has a high malaria endemicity, with an Annual Parasite Incidence (API) of 42.65 per 1,000 population, far exceeding the national average of 0.84 per 1,000 population. This case study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of massage techniques in managing acute pain in Mr. E, a patient with tertian malaria, in Class I & II wards at Serui Regional General Hospital, Papua, on February 18–19, 2025. The study employed a case study design using a nursing process approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, physical examination, and documentation review. Research instruments included a nursing assessment form, Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), observation sheets, and nursing care documentation formats. The application of massage techniques combined with pharmacological therapy effectively managed acute pain, resulting in a reduction in pain intensity from a scale of 3 to 1 after two days of implementation. Massage techniques proved to be an effective non-pharmacological approach for managing acute pain in patients with tertian malaria, enhancing patient comfort.

Leishmaniasis is recognized as a significant health concern in Iraq. The disease begins with minor elevations (papules) and progresses into ulcers. Epidemiological investigations play a crucial role in managing and implementing effective preventive strategies for this disease. This study examines the epidemiology of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Iraq over the past 7 years. This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional inquiry analyzed data concerning patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis over the previous 7 years at the Iraq Health Center. Demographic and epidemiological data of the patients were collected from healthcare centers in Iraq through collaborative efforts with healthcare facilities. Using SPSS software, epidemiological records of the patients were extracted and subjected to statistical analysis employing the chi-square test. Out of 175 patients examined, 88 were male (53%), and 87 were female (47%). The majority of patients belonged to the age bracket of 9 months to 4 years, with the lowest number of cases in the age group of 40 to 49 years. Mainly, the manifestations of the disease were observed on the facial region and limbs. Furthermore, a statistically significant correlation was observed between age groups and the type of leishmaniasis (P > 0.05), as well as between gender and the type of leishmaniasis (P > 0.05). According to the conducted analysis, the prevalence of the disease in Iraq showed a declining trend from 2008 to 2014. Sexually Trnsmitted Infections (STIs) are a group of diases that are transmitted through sexual contact, whether vaginal, anal or oral, which are caused by various pathogenis agents such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi. STIs include diseases such as gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, human papillomavirus (HPV), and HIV/AIDS. This disease can attack anyone who is sexually active, especially those who do not practice safe sexual relations. Symptoms of STIs vary greatly, ranging from asymptomatic to sores in the genital area, abnormal vaginal discharge, pain when urinating, to serious complications such as infertility, ectopic pregnancy, or cervical cancer.
