Tourism in culturally hybrid destinations requires the integration of authentic experiences, technology adoption, and religious values to foster sustainable competitiveness. This study investigates how tourist experience quality and technology-enhanced tourism activities influence revisit intention through the mediating role of perceived halal value in Samosir, North Sumatera. A quantitative survey was conducted with 300 Muslim visitors, and data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results revealed that both tourist experience quality and technology-enhanced tourism activities significantly improved perceived halal value, which, in turn, strongly predicted revisit intention. Technology-enhanced activities exerted the strongest direct and indirect influences, confirming their role as a dominant driver of halal value creation. Mediation tests showed that perceived halal value significantly strengthened the pathways from both antecedents to revisit intentions. The model explained 67.8% of the variance in perceived halal value and 63.1% of the variance in revisit intention, indicating its substantial explanatory power. This study was limited by its focus on a single destination and its cross-sectional design, which may constrain generalizability and causal inference. Despite these limitations, the findings contribute to halal tourism literature by demonstrating the critical role of technology in reinforcing value perception and loyalty in emerging Muslim-friendly destinations. Practically, this study highlights the need for destination managers to integrate authentic cultural experiences with smart halal-compliant technologies to enhance tourist trust, satisfaction, and long-term commitment.Practically, the study provides actionable insights for destination managers and policymakers to integrate smart, halal-compliant technologies with authentic cultural experiences, thereby strengthening tourist trust, satisfaction, and sustainable competitiveness in halal tourism markets.

This study aims to analyze how the mass media constructs the discourse of territorial conflict through reporting on the dispute over four islands in the waters of Aceh Singkil that were transferred to North Sumatra. This study highlights how two national media, Tempo.com and Kumparan.com, frame the issue of territorial boundaries that are administratively, politically, and economically sensitive. The novelty of this study lies in the comparative framing approach between the two media with different journalism styles, as well as their relationship to the potential for socio-political escalation at the local level. This study uses a qualitative method with Robert Entman's framing analysis model approach, which examines four main elements: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgments, and suggest remedies. The results show that Tempo.com tends to frame the conflict as an administrative and technocratic problem that is resolved through legal channels and cross-institutional coordination, while Kumparan.com emphasizes the economic dimension by highlighting the potential for oil and gas reserves on the disputed islands, opening up space for public speculation, and encouraging collaborative solutions between regions. This difference in framing emphasizes the role of the media in shaping public perception and maintaining the stability of the narrative on the issue of territorial conflict in Indonesia.

Human resource management (HR) in the government sector, especially in the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) of North Sumatra Province, has a crucial role in determining the effectiveness and efficiency of public services. However, HR management in government agencies still faces various challenges, such as complex bureaucracy, lack of innovation, and employee competency gaps. This study aims to analyze the challenges in HR management and the factors that influence employee performance in order to formulate strategies for optimizing HR management in the government sector. Using qualitative research methods, data were obtained through interviews, document studies, and literature reviews. The results of the study indicate that a rigid personnel system, lack of competency development, and a recruitment and promotion system that is not fully performance-based are the main factors that hinder the effectiveness of employee work. Therefore, reforms are needed in the HR management system, such as improving the recruitment, promotion, and rotation mechanisms of employees, strengthening competency development policies through adaptive training programs, and implementing a performance evaluation system based on objectivity and transparency. With this optimization strategy, it is hoped that employee performance at the PUPR Office of North Sumatra Province can improve, so that public services become more effective and professional.

Using a quantitative approach, this study investigates the effect of port export and import volumes on economic growth in North Sumatra and West Sumatra Provinces. Time series data from the World Bank and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) from 2006 to 2023 are used as secondary data. The analysis uses the ARDL Panel model, which allows for analysis of data dynamics across time and regions. The results show that the three main indicators that affect economic growth (GRDP) in both provinces, both in the short and long term, are export volume, inflation, and exchange rates. In North Sumatra, export volume has a positive impact on GRDP, while import volume has a negative impact, indicating a risk of dependence on imports. Controlled inflation also has a positive impact, while the exchange rate shows a diversion. Policy recommendations are expected to improve global competitiveness and exchange rate stability through coordination of fiscal and monetary policies, support for the Export Capacity Building Program and MSMEs through the Regional Comprehensive Economic Framework (RCEP), and export diversification to reduce dependence on certain commodities. This study emphasizes that policies that are responsive to changes in trade at the national to international levels are an important foundation for stabilizing sustainable economic growth.

Disturbances in the eyes of the elderly will cause disturbance which have an impact on discomfort and other disturbances in carrying out daily activities. The figure of the elderly is part of family members and community members whose number is increasing in line with the increase in life expectancy. The number of elderly people in Indonesia is increasing rapidly every year, so that Indonesia is expected to experience an “elderly population boom” in the early 2 decades of the 21 century as a result of the baby boom several decades ago. BPS projects that ini 2045 Indonesia will have around 63,31 million elderly or nearly 20 percent of the population. According to UN projections, the percentage of elderly Indonesians will reach 25 percent in 2050 or around 74 million elderly. This community service activity is a form of application in the optics and wave physics course. The purpose of this screening is to find out the description of eye refraction abnormalities and lectures can apply it to the community. The location for the screening was held in the Sei Agul area of  Medan, North Sumatera. The subjects were the ederly and the poor around Medan Barat District who ere suspected of having refractive errors. Screening was carried out using the Snellen Optotype and corrected using a trial lens. The implementation of this community service activity took place smoothly and efficiently. The results of the exmation of the elderly, which were almost large, were that the elderly were not found to have eye defects such as night blindness, cataracts or color blindness. This activity is expected to foster community motivation in carrying out their lives with the glasses provided by the lion clubs and remind them to carry out routine checks before experiencing cataracts.

Poetry translation is a complex and challenging process, as poetry is a rich and unique form of language that often uses poetic words and sentence structures. This study aims to analyze the translation methods used by students of English Language Education Study Program in translating poetry from Indonesian to English. This research uses a case study method involving 15 students of English Education in North Sumatera who are currently undergoing a translation course. The research data were obtained through analyzing the poetry translations produced by the students. The results showed that the students used various translation methods, but the most commonly used method was literal translation. Students also managed to maintain the meaning of the original poem in their translations, but they sometimes struggled to convey the emotional and aesthetic nuances of the poem. Based on the results of the study, the researcher concludes that PBI students still need to develop their skills in translating poetry. This can be done by providing more in-depth learning about the theory and practice of poetry translation, as well as providing opportunities for students to practice translating poetry with guidance from experienced lecturers.

The objective of this study is to investigate the correlation between inflation and crime rates in North Sumatra and assess the impact of inflation on crime. The search utilizes secondary data collected from 2016 to 2020, obtained from BPS. The primary analytical method used is linear regression. The study results indicate that there is no statistically significant association between the inflation rate and the crime rate in North Sumatra. Despite the modest correlation coefficient between the two variables, the ANOVA analysis indicates that the entire regression model lacks statistical significance. The regression coefficient for the inflation variable is likewise non-significant, suggesting that inflation does not have a substantial influence on the crime rate in the region.
