The role of citizenship education is fundamental in internalizing the values of nationalism and ethics within a society. This research is motivated by the increasing challenges of globalization and moral degradation that threaten the national identity of the younger generation. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the strategic role of citizenship education in shaping and strengthening national character within the Indonesian context. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing literature reviews and thematic analysis of educational policies and social phenomena. The findings indicate that citizenship education serves as a vital instrument not only for transferring political knowledge but also for fostering civic disposition, including integrity, tolerance, and social responsibility. Furthermore, the integration of local wisdom within the curriculum significantly enhances the effectiveness of character building. The implications of this study suggest that a revitalized citizenship education curriculum, which adapts to digital era challenges, is essential for maintaining social cohesion. Stakeholders in the education sector must prioritize interactive and participatory pedagogical approaches to ensure that national character values are not merely memorized but practiced in daily life, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability of the nation's democratic values.

Civic Education holds a strategic position within the national education system as the primary instrument for shaping the personality of citizens in alignment with the values of Pancasila. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of moral degradation and the fading spirit of nationalism among the younger generation due to the unfiltered influence of globalization. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the extent of Civic Education's role in the school environment in transforming student character to possess noble morals, broad national insight, and a deep love for the motherland. The research method employed is a literature study with a qualitative approach, where data were collected through the analysis of various curriculum documents, scientific journals, and textbooks relevant to the implementation of the independent curriculum. Research findings indicate that Civic Education is not merely a theoretical transfer of civic knowledge but rather an effective process of value internalization through behavioral habituation within the school environment. The integration of teaching materials with practical applications in school life is proven to increase students' awareness of their rights and obligations as citizens. The analysis also reveals that strengthening moral character and national insight highly depends on teacher creativity in delivering interactive learning that is relevant to the students' social reality. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of revitalizing Civic Education teaching methods to be more adaptive to modern developments without losing national identity. Schools are expected to serve as laboratories of democracy and centers for sowing patriotic values to produce a golden generation that is not only intellectually competent but also possesses strong moral integrity to maintain the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.

In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, Indonesia’s indigenous culture faces various challenges that may gradually erode traditional values within society, particularly among the younger generation. Local cultural diversity represents a vital national asset that must be preserved and sustained through strategic efforts, one of which is education. Social studies education plays an important role in instilling students’ knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of local cultural diversity as an essential component of national identity. This article aims to examine the contribution of social studies education to the development of students’ character through respect for cultural diversity in their surrounding environment, the cultivation of tolerance, and the enhancement of cultural awareness. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive approach using a literature review methodology by analyzing relevant academic sources, including books, journal articles, and previous research findings. The results reveal that integrating local culture and indigenous knowledge into social studies learning can strengthen students’ social awareness, deepen their understanding of cultural values, and foster responsible, empathetic, and tolerant character traits. Moreover, the effectiveness of local culture–based social studies education is strongly influenced by the role of teachers as facilitators, motivators, and role models who provide contextual, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences for students.

Honesty (ṣidq) is a fundamental moral value in Islam that serves as the foundation for personal integrity and social ethics. In the current era of globalization and growing materialistic culture, this value faces serious challenges as societal orientation shifts from moral virtue to economic achievement and social image. This study employs a narrative review method, analyzing recent literature on moral education, Islamic ethics, and contemporary social dynamics. The findings reveal that honesty functions not only as a personal virtue but also as a social force that strengthens public trust and national stability. However, the global wave of materialism has weakened the internalization of ṣidq, especially among younger generations. Restoring honesty as the moral identity of the nation requires synergy among character-based education, spiritual reinforcement, and public policies that promote transparency and integrity. The recontextualization of honesty through Islamic spiritual principles and Rokeach’s value theory offers a path toward moral recovery for Indonesian society amid the global challenges of the 21st century.

Globalization and the penetration of digital culture have accelerated the homogenization of values, which has weakened the cultural identity and social character of the younger generation. This condition places local wisdom as a source of values that not only needs to be preserved but also systematically transformed in education. This article offers a critical analysis of the integration of local wisdom in character education as a mechanism for social transformation. Using a structured literature review approach, this study analyzes the concept of local wisdom, the role of teachers as agents of cultural preservation, the challenges of implementation in the context of modern education, and strategic models for integrating local values into the curriculum and school culture. The findings show that local values such as gotong royong (mutual cooperation), tepa selira (harmony), Tri Hita Karana (harmony between humans, nature, and the divine), Silih Asah Asih Asuh (mutual encouragement, love, and care), ABS-SBK (mutual respect, honesty, and integrity), and various traditional philosophies of the archipelago have proven effective in strengthening students' social character, enhancing social cohesion, and strengthening national identity. However, obstacles such as the dominance of global culture, low cultural literacy among teachers, and weak national curriculum support are significant hindrances. This article proposes a three-layer integrative model of contextual curriculum, culture-based pedagogy, and participatory school culture as a strategy for transforming social values that are adaptive to the challenges of the digital age. The conclusion emphasizes that character education based on local wisdom is not only an instrument for cultural preservation but also a strategic framework for building social resilience and national identity amid rapid global change.

We give thanks to the presence of God Almighty because, by His abundant grace and blessings, this course material has been compiled as a form of commitment to instill and develop the noble values of Pancasila among the younger generation, especially students. In the midst of the tide of globalization bringing various changes and challenges, it is important for us to hold firmly to the fundamental values that serve as the identity and foundation of the Indonesian nation. Pancasila — as the state foundation and national ideology — should not only serve as a formal symbol of the nation, but must become a moral guide in attitude, thought, and action. In the context of a global society, students are required not only to be intellectually and professionally capable, but also resilient in upholding Pancasila-based national values. Through this material, it is hoped that students will be able to understand, internalize, and actualize the values of Pancasila concretely in campus life, social life, and even in the global sphere. Character education based on Pancasila becomes the key in shaping a generation who are integrous, empathetic, competitive, and uphold the values of humanity, democracy, and justice. In closing, may this material become a real contribution in shaping a young generation who are not only knowledgeable, but also have noble character — as a manifestation of the true Pancasila generation.

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the role of Indonesian language education in strengthening national identity and culture amid the increasingly complex dynamics of globalization. Indonesian holds a strategic position as both the national and state language, functioning not only as a means of communication but also as a symbol of national unity, a marker of collective identity, and a medium for transmitting national cultural values. However, globalization—characterized by the dominance of foreign languages, particularly English, rapid digital transformation, and changing language attitudes among younger generations—poses serious challenges to the ideological and cultural functions of Indonesian, especially within formal education. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, classroom observations of Indonesian language learning practices, and document analysis of curricula and instructional materials at secondary and higher education levels. The data were analyzed thematically through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and technique triangulation to ensure the trustworthiness of the findings. The results indicate that Indonesian language education that integrates national values, literary texts, and cultural elements plays a significant role in fostering students’ awareness of national identity and positive attitudes toward the Indonesian language. Moreover, Indonesian language learning functions as a form of cultural practice that contributes to the preservation of national cultural values. Nevertheless, the study reveals challenges related to students’ pragmatic orientation toward global languages and the dominance of foreign languages in digital spaces. Therefore, strengthening Indonesian language education through integrative, contextual, and adaptive curricula and pedagogical practices is essential to address global challenges while sustaining Indonesia’s national identity and cultural continuity.

Civic Education (PKn) has a strategic role as the main means in internalizing the values of Pancasila to students. Through PKn, the process of forming the character and personality of citizens can be carried out systematically, sustainably, and contextually, based on the values of divinity, humanity, unity, democracy, and justice. The internalization of these values is not only through mastery of concepts, but also through habituation of attitudes and behaviors in daily life. An interactive, reflective, and social project-based approach to learning allows learners to actively develop moral awareness, social responsibility, and a sense of nationalism. PKn functions as a character education instrument that not only forms civic knowledge, but also builds a strong national identity and a tolerant spirit. In the context of globalization and the challenges of the digital era, civil society is an important foundation in equipping the young generation to be able to be critical, adaptive, and still uphold national values. Therefore, PKn is not just a formal subject, but a strategic vehicle in forming a generation with Pancasila character who is ready to contribute positively to the life of society, nation, and state. This research emphasizes the urgency of PKn revitalization as a transformative and contextual value education.

This study aims to explore in depth the role of social media in strengthening the national identity of students in the Pematangsiantar City campus environment. National identity is seen as an important aspect in shaping the national consciousness of the younger generation, especially students who are in a critical phase of intellectual and social development. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of students from various universities in Pematangsiantar City. The results show that students actively use social media to access, produce, and share content related to local culture, national history, national figures, and national issues relevant to their daily lives. Social media functions not only as a means of communication, but also as a space for expression and creativity that allows students to build national narratives independently, critically, and innovatively. The discussion emphasizes that amidst the rapid flow of globalization and the penetration of foreign cultures, social media plays a strategic role in maintaining national values, provided its use is directed in a reflective, educational, and responsible manner. In addition, social media has the potential to expand the reach of the dissemination of nationalist values in a more engaging way and in accordance with the communication style of the younger generation. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that social media can be an effective tool in shaping and strengthening national consciousness among students. This impact is long-term, contributing to character formation, national loyalty, and strengthening students' role as agents of change in maintaining national unity and integrity.

The digital design of cultural museums with an interactive and educational approach in Indramayu Regency aims to present a modern, innovative, and interesting cultural preservation space. This concept was born from the urgent need for a means that are able to preserve, document, and promote local cultural wealth in the midst of the rapid flow of globalization. The lack of cultural literacy among the public, especially the younger generation, as well as the loss of historical objects due to inadequate storage facilities, are the main reasons for the importance of developing digital-based museums. Through an interactive approach, visitors can actively engage with cultural collections using advanced technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and interactive multimedia. This technology provides an immersive, engaging, and personalized learning experience, so that visitors not only see, but also virtually experience the richness of the culture on display. Meanwhile, the educational approach is designed to create an informative, collaborative, and fun learning environment, which is highly relevant for learners and the younger generation as the successors of cultural preservation. Indramayu Regency, known for its long history, maritime traditions, and distinctive coastal culture, has great potential to become a center for cultural education. This digital museum will utilize digital technology to document cultural narratives in depth, so that it can be accessed not only by local people, but also national and international tourists. With its strategic location in the city center, the presence of this museum is expected to encourage the participation of the public and tourists in understanding, appreciating, and preserving the local culture of Indramayu. Apart from being an educational facility, this museum is expected to be able to become a driver of local tourism that makes a positive contribution to the economy of the surrounding community. Digital cultural museums are not only a place for preservation, but also a symbol of a strong regional identity, reflecting the synergy between technological innovation and commitment to cultural sustainability in the modern era.

The younger generation in Indonesia faces significant challenges in the form of an identity crisis and moral degradation due to the increasingly strong influence of other cultures in the era of globalization and the fifth industrial revolution. A pragmatic culture that does not always align with national identity puts pressure on Pancasila principles such as belief in God, humanity, unity, democracy, and social justice. As a result, character education integrated into social studies instruction serves as a tactical tool to reintroduce these fundamental principles to students from an early age. This study, using qualitative methodology and a descriptive design, found that contextualized and project-based social studies instruction not only enhances students' understanding of Pancasila values but also fosters the growth of critical thinking skills, social empathy, reflective attitudes, and a spirit of cooperation. When combined with digital tools like Canva, Taman Siswa's teachings—niteni, niroake, and nambahi—have proven successful in developing students' creativity and enhancing their purpose and enjoyment in learning.

The #KaburAjaDulu phenomenon that emerged in early 2025 became a digital expression of Generation Z Indonesia towards various social, economic and political unrest in the country. This hashtag not only reflects the desire to migrate, but also symbolizes criticism of the national situation that is considered not to provide hope and space to develop for young people. This research uses a qualitative approach with the descriptive analysis, and utilizes constructivism theory in international relations and social identity theory to understand the dynamics of Generation Z's increasingly transnational identity. Through social media and diaspora support, Gen Z forms a global community that reinforces a collective narrative of seeking a future beyond national borders. Their identities are no longer confined to conventional nationalism, but are continuously negotiated through cross-border interactions and diasporic experiences. This research concludes that #KaburAjaDulu is not just a temporary trend, but a reflection of the transformation of youth identity in the era of globalization and digitalization. The findings highlight the importance of policies that are more inclusive and responsive to the needs of the younger generation so that they not only become global actors, but also still feel a sense of belonging and want to build the homeland.

Indonesian local culture, which is the heritage of the younger generation as a national identity, is now facing serious threats due to globalization and modernization. The young generation in this era of globalization tends to be indifferent and even abandon traditional cultural values and prefer foreign cultures that are considered cooler and more modern. This can certainly make the Indonesian nation an identity crisis. Therefore, this research was carried out with the aim of analyzing the extent to which local culture began to be abandoned by the Indonesian people as a young generation. The research method used is a literature study. This method is done by analyzing various sources such as scientific journals, books, and relevant articles. Then, the results of this literature study review show that local culture has been degraded due to the dominance of global culture. This will certainly have implications for the weakening of the nation's identity. The preservation of local culture requires the active role of education and digital media as a means of spreading the nation's noble values.

This article discusses how Civic Education can be a solution in facing the challenges of globalization, by instilling the values of Pancasila, love for the homeland, social responsibility, and strengthening national identity. The methods used are literature studies and qualitative analysis of various relevant sources. The results show that globalization brings a great challenge to Indonesia's national identity, especially among the younger generation. The flow of information and foreign culture that enters without borders can weaken the spirit of nationalism and local values such as mutual cooperation and tolerance. In this context, Civic Education (PKn) has a strategic role in building a strong national character and integrity. Emphasis on the importance of integrating national values in civil society is very important in forming a young generation that is resilient, critical, and ready to contribute to the global world without losing their identity as Indonesian citizens.

Generation tends to be more interested in foreign cultures than their own national culture, especially among students. Many foreign cultures have entered and flourished among the community, particularly the younger generation. This situation threatens and endangers national identity if left unchecked. A national identity crisis can occur, especially among the younger generation, particularly students, who are highly susceptible to the influences of globalization. Therefore, there is a need for awareness to preserve cultural values as national identity is increasingly fading. Additionally, there is a necessity for methods or actions to enhance the awareness of the younger generation, especially students, towards national identity while also considering the advancements in science, technology (IPTEK) in today's era.

National Identity Crisis as a Challenge for the Young Generation in the Era of Globalization. A national identity is a marker of an identity belonging to and attached to a nation or a country that can be distinguished from another. National identity must be able to preserve the existence and survival of a nation because it contains cultural values that have similar characteristics, physical characteristics, ideals and goals. National identity, therefore, is vital for implanting and applying to daily life as to the future of nations. In today's times of globalization, most aspects of life have changed. That certainly brings with it both the good and the bad effects that society has to face. Many foreign cultures are moving in and developing within communities. It can, of course, threaten the national identity of the nation. National identity crises can occur especially in the younger generation, which can very easily be affected by the current globalization. Awareness of the importance of keeping cultural values as national identity began to fade. To that end, efforts must be made to foster a renewed awareness of national identity, which is appropriate to the development of nowaday's science and technology.
