Mathematical connection ability is a crucial competence that should be developed from the elementary level, as it helps students understand the interrelationships between mathematical concepts and their applications in daily life. This study aims to analyze the mathematical connection abilities of first-grade elementary school students in learning flat shapes. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method using cognitive and psychomotor assessment instruments. The cognitive test consisted of multiple-choice and essay questions measuring students' ability to recognize, understand, classify, and apply flat shapes. The psychomotor test involved tasks such as assembling flat shapes into meaningful objects and classifying shapes by type. The results showed that students were fairly capable of identifying and grouping flat shapes, but had difficulty explaining classification reasons or relating shapes to real-life objects. The psychomotor results also indicated that fine motor skills and the ability to make real-world connections need improvement. These findings highlight the importance of contextual learning approaches and the use of concrete media to strengthen students’ mathematical connections from an early age.

This study aims to determine students’ mathematical connection abilities with the think talk write cooperative learning model. The type of research used is research with a qualitative approach. Qualitative research uses descriptive or verbal data from people who have behaved. The method used is literature study. The type of data used is secondary data. Secondary data is data that already exists, so we just need to find and collect existing data. The secondary data source used in this research is the influence of the cooperative learning model of the think talk write type on students’ mathematical connection .From the search results, the researchers found 3 journals and 2 thesis relevant to the research topic. From the journal it was found that there was an influence of the think talk write cooperative learning model on students’ mathematical connection abilities.

Berdasarkan pertanyaan tersebut, tujuan yang ingin dicapai dari permasalahan yang akan dikaji adalah: 1) Mengetahui hambatan belajar (learning obstacle) berdasarkan koneksi matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal operasi hitung bilangan bulat. 2) Mengetahui desain didaktis untuk meminimalkan terjadinya hambatan belajar (learning obstacle) siswa dalam menyelasaikan operasi bilangan bulat.Dalam penelitian ini, metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan model penelitian Desain Didaktis atau Didactical Design Research (DDR). Subjek penelitian pertama merupakan siswa kelas 8 yang telah mempelajari bilangan bulat. Sedangkan sunjek kedua adalah subjek observasi yang akan dilakukan pada siswa kelas 7 yang  sedang mempelajari materi bilangan bulat untuk melihat bagaiman proses pembelajaran dan situasi di kelas. Berdasarkan hasil pembelajaran dengan desain didaktis yang sudah peneliti susun dalam mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yaitu siswa dapat memahami dan menemukan konsep-konsep yang berkaitan dengan sub bab bilamgam bulat dapat tercapai meskipun belum sepenuhnya. Karena masih ada kelompok yang tidak menemukan konsep-konsep tersebut dalam mengerjakan kerja proyek. Berdasarkan data yang peneliti peroleh dalam penilaian validator melalui angket dan wawancara yang telah dipaparkan sebelumnya, dapat disimpulkan secara global bahwa bahan ajar ini dalam bentuk LAS dengan 3 kegiatan di dalamnya layak digunakan dengan beberapa perbaikan.
