Extreme poverty remains a major challenge in rural areas of Indonesia, including Nagori Bandar Manik, Pamatang Sidamanik District, Simalungun Regency. The 2025 UINSU Community Service Program (KKN) was carried out to empower local communities through various activities covering economic, educational, religious, social-environmental, and health aspects. This program employed a qualitative approach by involving active community participation in needs assessment, socialization, training, and evaluation. In the economic aspect, workshops on dishwashing liquid and herbal pesticide production were implemented as alternative household businesses. The educational sector included religious moderation through a short movie screening Mabbere, anti-bullying campaigns, ecoprint totebag training, and teaching at kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school levels. In the religious field, activities included Qur’an learning after Maghrib with children and Yasin recitals for both men and women. The social-environmental aspect was realized through community clean-up, educational boards on waste decomposition, distribution of garbage bins, and environmental awareness campaigns. Meanwhile, the health aspect focused on education about clean and healthy living behaviors, stunting prevention campaigns, and community exercise. The findings revealed improvements in entrepreneurial skills, children’s literacy, spiritual values, environmental awareness, and healthy lifestyles. The implication highlights that multidimensional community empowerment can serve as an effective strategy to reduce extreme poverty and promote sustainable village development.

The problem of waste in rural areas is still a serious issue that has an impact on environmental health and the quality of life of the community. Batu Licin Village, Gunung Lengkuas Village, East Bintan District, Bintan Regency is one of the areas that faces similar problems, where household waste is still scattered and has not been handled optimally. This community service activity offers innovative solutions through the manufacture of rocket stoves as a means of efficiently burning certain organic and inorganic waste, as well as the construction of garbage booths as a place to store and sort waste before further processing. The implementation method involves counseling to residents, making prototypes, and direct practice of using rocket stoves and garbage booths by local communities. In addition, this activity also emphasizes the importance of changing community behavior in managing waste with the 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) principle. The results of the activity show an increase in public awareness in managing waste independently, reducing the accumulation of waste in the village environment, and the emergence of alternative waste processing that is environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and easy to apply. This innovation not only helps overcome the problem of household waste, but also provides educational value and empowers the community in maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the village environment. With the implementation of rocket stoves and garbage booths, it is hoped that a cleaner, healthier, and more viable village environment will be created in the long term.

Coastal environmental pollution is an increasingly complex problem in Indonesia, especially due to uncontrolled waste disposal. This study aims to analyze the impact of waste disposal on the environment in the coastal area of Putra Deli Beach, Deli Serdang Regency. The research approach used is mixed-method with data collection through direct observation, semi-structured interviews, and literature study. The results showed that plastic waste dominates the types of waste found at the research site and is the main cause of marine ecosystem pollution. The impacts include damage to marine biota habitat, decreased tourist attraction, public health problems, and economic losses for local businesses. The lack of waste management facilities and low environmental awareness also exacerbate this condition. Therefore, an integrated waste management strategy based on community and stakeholder collaboration is needed to maintain the sustainability of the coastal environment.

Household waste has not been utilized properly and is generally considered as garbage. In fact, it can be utilized as an ecoenzyme organic fertilizer that is not only beneficial for the soil and plants themselves, but can also reduce household waste in the form of fruit and vegetable waste. In general, household waste in Landbaw Village, Gisting District, Tanggamus Regency has been utilized properly as organic fertilizer. However, it has not been optimal. This is due to the absence of branding and marketing itself in order to introduce and distribute it to the wider community. Therefore, community service activities were held in Landbaw Village, Gisting District, Tanggamus Regency through counseling on how to package a product to make it more attractive and make other people trust our products so as to increase income.

Waste is a waste product of human activities that continues to increase along with the increase in population, activities, and consumption levels. In Bengkalis Sub-district, Bengkalis Regency, there are many waste accumulation points that have not been handled properly, mainly due to the lack of information about the location of waste accumulation. This causes the Bengkalis Regency Environment and Hygiene Agency (DLHK) to have difficulties in managing waste transportation, even though it is carried out every day. There are still many complaints from people who are outside the waste collection point. To overcome this problem, this research aims to develop a mobile application-based garbage pile complaint application focused on the Bengkalis District area. This application is designed to assist DLHK in monitoring environmental cleanliness more effectively. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is used to determine the priority of handling waste complaints, which will be implemented in a web platform to ensure optimal handling. Application development uses a prototype approach to ensure that the resulting application is in accordance with user needs and expectations. With this application, it is hoped that waste management in Bengkalis Regency will become more efficient and responsive to community complaints.

One of the places of education in Bandung, namely the 184 Buahbatu State Elementary School (SDN) needs to instill concern for waste in its students. Concern for the environment at SDN 184 Buahbatu is still lacking when viewed from waste management. For example, the results of students' work using used goods were not found. The culture that considers waste to be a useless material has not been conveyed carefully by teachers, so that all waste is still considered to be disposed of or destroyed. The culture of sorting waste has not been implemented properly due to the low understanding and motivation of every student at the school. The school has not felt the direct benefits of waste segregation. There are no restrictions such as pamphlets warning not to litter, which are also needed to remind school members. The aim of the research was to design and build using Construct 3 waste sorting game application for students at SDN 184 Buahbatu in increasing awareness of the school environment and its surroundings. The game application for sorting waste is made using the ADDIE method with the help of Scirra Construct 3. As a result, through this developed waste sorting game application, teachers can deliver material about sorting carefully. The aim of this research is to understand the extent to which the Sentiong community cares about managing household waste. The method used is descriptive qualitative using data collection techniques carried out through investigations and interviews. The results of the research imply that the awareness of the Sentiong community in dominating household waste is still in the small category. This is due to the large amount of waste being thrown away haphazardly, the lack of waste sorting, and the lack of public knowledge. Throwing away rubbish is a daily activity that everyone does, this can lead to deviant behavior if it is carried out by people who behave badly towards the environment. Waste can cause problems, but it can also strengthen the economic life of the community. Various types of waste produced from industry and households, if not managed well and correctly, will have the potential to weaken the community's economy, this is because it will absorb quite a large amount of funds for handling waste that is not managed well and correctly, which is considered from a hygiene, health and environmental perspective.

The aim of this research is to determine students' awareness of the importance of disposing of rubbish in the right place, which is an important part of maintaining a clean campus environment. However, this lack of awareness often becomes a detrimental problem, reflecting a lack of understanding of the negative impacts of this behavior. Several factors that may influence this lack of awareness include a lack of environmental education, ignorance of environmental impacts, and a lack of enforcement of regulations related to waste management. The importance of improving student awareness in this regard cannot be overstated, considering their important role in maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the campus environment. Therefore, coordinated efforts are needed between educational institutions, local governments and the community to increase students' awareness of the importance of disposing of waste in the right place through education, social campaigns and consistent enforcement of rules. In this way, it is hoped that a clean, healthy and sustainable campus environment can be created for the entire academic community.

The community has the right to get a clean, beautiful, comfortable and healthy environment; get cleaning services; utilizing and processing waste; actively participate in waste management activities; and obtain information from local governments and/or other parties that are directly related to the sustainability of life related to waste. This right has direct implications for the community's obligations regarding the management of household waste and/or similar household waste by being obliged to reduce and/or handle waste in an environmentally sound manner. Unfortunately, the handling of environmentally sound waste has not gone well due to inadequate facilities, enforcement of regulations, and low awareness of the community itself. PT. Wahana Anugerah Energi has developed a waste collection and transportation system using a smartphone application called Rapel. Rapel campaigns for sustainable waste management in households. Currently, Rapel provides garbage pick-up services, especially for recycled waste. However, the problems faced include: wide community reach but with Human Resources (HR) PT. The Wahana Anugerah Energi (Rapel Surakarta) is limited, facilities and infrastructure for the ongoing development of understanding of waste management for the community are not sufficient, the application of Rapel is not yet known by the people of Surakarta. overcome, the lack of public awareness of Surakarta City regarding waste management, lack of cooperation and coordination with agencies related to waste problems so that Rapel technology has not received public knowledge, Surakarta people do not know about data integration related to environmental information. From this problem, we  design a social marketing communication program so that Rapel Indonesia's goal of encouraging people to sort household waste can be achieved. To achieve this, we design a waste sorting workshop by presenting credible sources such as Lyfe With Less Representative and Rapel Indonesia Manager.
