This study aims to analyze the visual composition in the fourth season using a cinematic approach, focusing on how elements such as framing, lighting, color, camera movement, and spatial arrangement support the narrative and character development. The Umbrella Academy is known for its unique storytelling and strong visual style. The fourth season, which also serves as the final season, went viral on social media and entered Netflix Indonesia’s Top 10 list. The method used is a qualitative approach with visual analysis. Each episode is examined to identify how visual elements are strategically used to convey themes and emotions. Theories of cinematography and visual composition serve as the foundation for this analysis. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the field of Visual Communication Design, particularly in the strategic use of visual elements to enhance storytelling. In addition to enriching academic literature, the results may serve as practical references for filmmakers, visual designers, and producers in creating impactful visual content. This study is also intended for publication in a Sinta-indexed journal or an international journal focusing on film studies and visual design.

This study is entitled Semiotic Analysis of Absurdism through the Main Character in the Film Trainspotting. The discussion touches upon the concept of absurdism and how it is reflected through signs in the film Trainspotting (1996), directed by Danny Boyle. The film portrays the life of Mark Renton, a heroin addict living in 1990s Scotland, who struggles to find meaning in an indifferent world. This research analysed the denotative and connotative signs that reflect the main character’s struggle with absurdism and how these signs portray the character’s responses to the absurd, whether through escape or rebellion. This study employed Roland Barthes’ (1991) theory of two-level semiotics to analyse the denotative and connotative meanings of signs, and Albert Camus’ (1955) theory of absurdism to interpret the character’s existential responses. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected by watching the film and analysing both verbal and non-verbal signs using Barthes’ semiotic framework. These findings indicate that Trainspotting contains strong elements of absurdism that can be uncovered through semiotic analysis.

This study examines the transformation of Habiburrahman El Shirazy's novel "Ayat-Ayat Cinta" into a film of the same name through an intertextuality approach. The main objective of this study is to analyze how narrative and visual elements in novels are translated into the medium of film, as well as identify and evaluate the changes that occur during the adaptation process. The methods used in this study include text and film analysis, storyline comparison, character development, and the use of symbolism. The results showed that although the film "Ayat-Ayat Cinta" is quite faithful to the theme and main character of the novel, there are some significant simplifications and modifications to the subplot and supporting characters. The visualization adaptation of the narrative description in the novel requires adjustments to meet the cinematic needs and duration of the film. The use of intertextual elements in the film includes direct references to dialogue and key scenes from the novel, as well as visual interpretations of symbols and metaphors present in the text. The changes made in the film were mainly driven by the need to appeal to a wider audience and keep the storyline dense and interesting. This research provides in-depth insight into the dynamics between literary works and film, demonstrating the importance of understanding the essence of the original story in the adaptation process, as well as the implications of the changes made to audience perceptions. This research is expected to make a significant contribution to literary and film studies, as well as serve as a guide for filmmakers in adapting literary works to the big screen.

Multiliteracy learning in recent years has become very interesting because by studying two or more literacy materials we can see how they relate to other literacy materials. Especially when it comes to learning literature and language, the film Nommensen in Batak land is a theatrical film that has been accommodated and shown especially for the Batak community in North Sumatra and outside the Tapanuli area. The film is usually only made in memory of Nommensen. However, in this study, the film will be studied so that it can produce a multiliterate assessment contained in the film. The results of this study indicate that complete multiliteracy learning can be learned even in certain drama or cultural context films.
