Human communication can be carried out through the use of language. Indonesian is not merely a tool for communication but also a unifying force for the Indonesian people. A language that adheres to its rules without deviation in many aspects is the official language of Indonesia and is used as a form of verbal or written communication, both formal and informal. The Indonesian people should be proud to have a language that can represent their feelings and thoughts. The existence of the Indonesian language in its current condition demands that the identity of the Indonesian language be cultivated and socialized by every Indonesian citizen. Mastering and loving the national language as an Indonesian citizen who loves the homeland is a matter of pride, identity, and a hallmark of Indonesia, as it is the language of unity. Even though you have learned foreign languages, it does not mean that you immediately forget the Indonesian language and its prestige. With our language of unity, which is Indonesian, loving and using Indonesian in accordance with language rules and maintaining it is an implication for preserving the existence of Indonesian through linguistic attitudes.

This research was conducted by describing what happened in the field regarding the use of prokem language among students and the existence of Indonesian language at this time. The first research objective is the reason students use prokem language, secondly how often students use prokem language, thirdly the impact of using prokem language on the existence of Indonesian language. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of interviews with students majoring in geography education at Medan State University, observation and literature study to provide supporting data from the analysis of data obtained in the field. The results and discussion obtained that students today are very often using prokem language in daily communication and in the campus environment, the reason they use prokem language is because they want to be up to date and follow current trends. The negative impact of prokem language results in a decrease in the existence of good and correct Indonesian in today's society and this also has a negative impact on the quality of writing and speaking of students as an academic

Language serves as a medium of human communication as well as a unifying tool for the nation. Language is needed by everyone to express themselves, interact with others, and adapt to the environment. The existence of Indonesian language is negatively affected by the rise of slang. The purpose of this research is to 1) find out the types of slang use, 2) find out the implications of slang on student character values. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that students use slang, abbreviations in their daily communication which is a form of error in the use of Indonesian language properly and correctly. This can hinder the growth and development of Indonesian language which will have an impact on the loss of Indonesian language which is displaced due to slang in the future.

The aim of this service is to explain the existence of the slang language spoken which is influenced by social media, almost all students use it. This research aims to analyze the influence of slang on the existence of the Indonesian language, with a focus on the case study of students at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. The use of slang among students has become an increasingly widespread phenomenon, raising questions regarding its impact on the use and maintenance of Indonesian as the country's official language. This research method involves qualitative research analysis using a structured descriptive method on a number of students from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education department at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This research was designed to identify the level of understanding and use of slang and describe the complexity of the dynamics between slang use and maintenance of Indonesian. This research contributes to our understanding of how the slang phenomenon influences the existence of Indonesian in society, especially in Ujung Lamuru village. The implications of this research can provide a basis for designing educational strategies and language awareness that are more effective in maintaining the existence of the Indonesian language in this modern era.
