Blood transfusion requires the availability of high-quality blood, which is determined, among others, by the donor's hemoglobin (Hb) level. One factor that may affect Hb is sleep quality. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between sleep quality and hemoglobin levels among prospective blood donors at UDD PMI South Sulawesi Province in 2025. Methods: An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), while Hb levels were measured using a hemoglobinometer. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p ≤ 0.05. Results: The majority of respondents (75%) had good sleep quality, while 25% had poor sleep quality. Normal Hb levels (12.5–17 g/dL) were found in 96% of respondents, while 3% were low and 1% were high. The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between sleep quality and Hb levels (p = 0.050). Conclusion: Good sleep quality is significantly associated with normal hemoglobin levels in prospective donors. Educational programs about healthy sleep patterns before donation are necessary to improve donor eligibility and ensure a safe blood supply.

This study aims to explore the communication strategies implemented in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) blood donation activities organized by McDonald’s in Solo City. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach to gain a comprehensive understanding of how communication plays a role in the success of these CSR initiatives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders, direct observations during the CSR events, and the analysis of documentation related to the activities. The findings reveal that interpersonal communication is a key factor in the effective implementation of blood donation CSR programs at McDonald’s Solo City. This approach enables the establishment of strong relationships with strategic partners, particularly the Indonesian Red Cross (Palang Merah Indonesia/PMI) Solo City, which serves as the main collaborator in organizing the events. Furthermore, McDonald’s successfully engages and mobilizes opinion leaders within the community to disseminate information widely and encourage public participation. These opinion leaders, trusted by the local community, play an important role in influencing people’s awareness and willingness to participate in the blood donation activities. The success of the program is also supported by consistent follow-up communication, mutual trust, and the ability to adapt messages to the cultural and social context of the target audience. In conclusion, the research highlights that well-developed interpersonal communication strategies—characterized by trust, collaboration, and community engagement—significantly contribute to the effectiveness and sustainability of CSR blood donation programs. These findings imply that companies aiming to enhance their CSR initiatives should prioritize building and maintaining strong interpersonal communication channels with both partners and the community to achieve impactful and long-term results.

The national blood demand is estimated to reach around 5.5 million bags per year, while the available blood supply is only around 4.1 million bags. This results in a significant annual blood shortage, approximately 1.4 million bags. The root cause of the main problem of unmet blood needs lies in the lack of public awareness. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase public education and awareness about the importance of blood donation and the high demand for blood. Activities include counseling and blood type testing of the ABO and Rh systems using the slide test method. The examination results show that the most common blood type found in Lampegan Village is type O, while the least common is type B. Almost all of them have Rh-positive blood type, and Rh-negative was found in one resident. Knowing the exact blood type and adopting a healthy lifestyle can help someone become a blood donor. Blood type testing is a persuasive strategy to raise public awareness about the importance of blood types and the benefits of blood donation.

Blood donation is an important process that involves taking some blood from a donor to donate and store it in a blood bank. This blood can then be used for transfusions for those in need, such as in cases of accidents, major surgery, or certain illnesses. In Indonesia, blood donation is very important, especially because of the high maternal mortality rate due to bleeding during childbirth. The need for blood continues to increase as the number of accidents and illnesses requiring blood transfusions increases. Although blood donation has great benefits for the recipient, many people do not realize that donating blood regularly also brings various health benefits to the donor. This study aims to increase public understanding about the importance of blood donation through interviews and research at Sunan Giri University, Surabaya. Interview results show that blood donation not only saves lives, but also helps maintain the health of donors and encourages a spirit of mutual cooperation in society. Through education and increasing awareness, more people are expected to be involved in sustainable blood donation activities.

Blood is a liquid that has a very important role in the human body, the existence of blood aims to distribute oxygen and nutrients to all body cells. But in reality, in Indonesia, the ideal blood stock, which should be 2% of the total population of Indonesia, is still far from enough, so it is necessary to have additional blood supply to reach the ideal count. Blood donation is one of the activities that can help this goal. In collaboration with PMI, PT Telkom Akses conducted community service through blood donation activities. In its implementation, 55 participants participated, with 30 people successfully donating blood and 25 people were unsuccessful because their hemoglobin (HB) levels did not meet the requirements. But overall this blood donation activity went well and smoothly.

Blood donation is a crucial activity in maintaining the availability of blood for transfusion; however, awareness of the importance of blood donation still needs to be increased in various communities, including Desa Kampung Baru, Kelurahan Galang Baru, Kota Batam. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of education about the benefits of blood donation in increasing community participation in the area. The education was conducted through interactive lectures and question-and-answer sessions at the Desa Kampung Baru Community Hall. The educational material included the benefits of blood donation for both recipients and donors, the blood donation procedure, and the requirements to become a donor. The study results showed an increase in community participation in blood donation activities after the education was conducted. More residents of Desa Kampung Baru now understand the benefits of blood donation in saving lives, reducing the risk of heart disease, and renewing red blood cells in the body. Nonetheless, further monitoring and evaluation efforts are needed to ensure the sustainability of participation in blood donation in the future. This study significantly contributes to increasing public awareness of the importance of blood donation and ensuring the availability of blood supplies to support overall public health.

A blood donor is someone who wants to donate their own blood to people in need without any element of coercion from anyone. Predicting the number of blood donors is very important and necessary to find out the number of blood donors in Langkat Regency in 2023-2024, and the prediction results can help PMI Langkat Regency in increasing the number of blood donors. The method applied in this prediction system is Linear Regression, where this analysis determines whether or not each variable is in accordance with the prediction results being tested and estimates that the value of the variable will increase or decrease each month. The prediction system is carried out using the RapidMiner application because this application is very appropriate for producing information output in the form of prediction results for the coming year. The prediction results obtained by testing using the Linear Regression method show increases and decreases every month. There are 11 months where there has been an increase and decrease in the predicted results and are in accordance with the data in 2023, then there is 1 month which has decreased in the predicted results and does not match the data in 2023. From the overall data results, it can be calculated the number of blood donors in Langkat Regency in 2023 and every month. Measuring the error level of prediction results using RMSE, the resulting accuracy level was 83.574%.

The availability of blood is needed as an effort to cure disease and restore health. Efforts to provide blood are carried out through blood donations, namely the process of taking blood from someone voluntarily to be stored in a blood bank as blood stock and then used for blood transfusions. Blood donation services are only carried out by health workers who have the competence and ability and are only carried out in health facilities that meet the requirements. This is necessary to prevent various risks that can arise, such as disease transmission.
