This study aims to describe the level and forms of political participation among Generation Z (Gen Z) in Bukittinggi City, considering the large proportion of young voters in the 2024 General Election. Gen Z refers to individuals born between 1997 and the early 2010s and currently represents a significant demographic force in the democratic system. The study employs a quantitative approach using the Participatory Behaviors Scale (PBS), which includes four dimensions: disengagement, civil participation, formal political participation, and activism. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, targeting Gen Z university students who possess an ID card (KTP) and reside in Bukittinggi. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The results show that the average level of political participation among Gen Z falls in the moderate-to-high category (M = 44.5; SD = 8.3), with 61.06% of respondents in the moderate category, and 19.47% each in the low and high categories. These findings indicate that Gen Z is fairly active in participating, both formally through elections and informally through political discussions and digital campaigns. The study highlights a shift in Gen Z’s political participation towards more digital, flexible, and issue-based forms. The results also underscore the importance of strengthening political literacy and creating more inclusive participatory spaces at the local level.

This research is motivated by several factors that cause voter behavior in the regional head election in Banjar City. The purpose of this study is to determine voter behavior in the Regional Head Election in Banjar City. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis. There are 7 informants. Data collection techniques are literature studies, field studies (observations and interviews) and documentation. The author uses qualitative data analysis techniques through data processing from interviews and observations to draw conclusions so that they can answer the problems in the study. Based on the results of the study, it is known that: voter behavior in Banjar City is still dominated by the tendency of traditional voters and skeptical voters. This is evidenced by the problem of many voters who determine their choices based on following suit if most of their environment chooses a candidate pair, in addition, voters in determining their political choices are based on information obtained from their parents or from their environment, there are voters who are reluctant and lazy to pay attention to political contestation. There are obstacles to voter behavior in the regional head election in Banjar City, including unequal access to information so that people only get political information from unverified social media. In addition, the practice of money politics is still a reality that is difficult to avoid, where direct assistance or certain promises are the main considerations in choosing candidate pairs as well as past experiences. To overcome various obstacles, a number of efforts have been made, including the Banjar City General Election Commission (KPU) implementing a voter education program through direct outreach to the community, especially in villages and densely populated areas.

The research aims to evaluate the role of community empowerment through the program in increasing access to decent housing, as well as to assess its broader impacts on education, health, and the economic conditions of the beneficiaries. Using a qualitative research method with a case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with program participants and key stakeholders. The findings show that the Decent Housing Program has significantly improved access to adequate and safe housing for the poor. In the field of education, improved housing conditions have created a more conducive environment for children to study, leading to greater learning motivation and better academic achievements. In terms of health, better sanitation facilities and healthier living environments have reduced the risk of infectious diseases and contributed to the residents' overall physical and mental well-being. Economically, access to stable and decent housing has reduced household expenditures on home repairs, allowing families to allocate more resources toward productive economic activities. However, the study also identified several challenges that need to be addressed to further enhance program effectiveness. These challenges include the location of housing projects that are difficult to access, which affects residents' mobility and access to public services, and issues related to the quality of construction that require continuous monitoring and improvement. Overall, the study highlights the positive contribution of the Decent Housing Program while providing recommendations for its future development.

This study aims to determine the state of political literacy of the Keboansikepl community, as well as to understand the role of the KPU in the context of the state of political literacy. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach, to reveal phenomena related to political literacy based on the results of research documents conducted by the Sidoarjo Regency KPU. as well as information from informants from the KPU of East Java Province. The results of the study conclude that the state of political literacy in the Keboansikep community is still very limited only to literacy related to the electoral process and does not reflect education that is oriented towards strengthening the system of understanding and actualizing the rights and obligations of citizens. The new political education is carried out by the KPU through socialization activities, technical guidance (technical guidance) and voter education which it will carry out in the context of the agenda for the stages of the election that will be held as election organizers. The state does not yet have an educational program to improve systemic and sustainable political literacy. The disappointment of the voting community towards the attitude and performance of the leaders and representatives of the people from the general election results in an anomalous phenomenon where the public is known to have knowledge and understanding of politics but it is not consistent with their attitudes and behavior. In political education, the KPU plays a role in conveying information about the election events it holds and providing political education to the public which is only limited to the electoral context for the sake of increasing the percentage of voters turned out and decreasing the percentage of invalid votes
