Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a life-threatening disease caused by the dengue virus, which consists of four serotypes: DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4. Laboratory examinations supporting DHF diagnosis include complete blood count, urine analysis, serological tests, and viral identification using Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Prevention efforts focus on eliminating Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae through the implementation of 3M Plus, as well as using mosquito bite prevention products such as aromatherapy candles that are simple and practical for community use. Mancasan Baki Village, Sukoharjo, has experienced a high incidence of dengue cases, including fatalities, highlighting the need for community education on the genetic characteristics and molecular diagnostics of the dengue virus and preventive measures using innovative products. Educational activities were conducted through community presentations and demonstrations on making aromatherapy candles. The effectiveness of the program was measured by comparing participants’ knowledge before and after the intervention. The average pretest score was 6.63, which increased to 8.89 in the posttest. Statistical analysis using a t-test showed a significant difference (p < 0.05). Participant satisfaction results indicated that 64.5% rated the program as good, 32.5% as very good, and 3% as fairly good.

Used cooking oil is a household waste that may pollute the environment and harm human health if disposed of or reused improperly. This community service program aimed to provide a waste management solution while enhancing the community’s economic skills through training on producing aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. The implementation method included awareness sessions on the hazards of used cooking oil, technical training using a learning by doing approach, and assistance in production and marketing. A total of 30 participants from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) took part in the program. The results indicated improved knowledge and skills, the production of approximately 50 aromatherapy candles with lavender, rose, and vanilla scents, and the establishment of a community group committed to continuing independent production. The program contributed positively to the environment by reducing around 15 liters of waste oil per month and created new entrepreneurial opportunities for residents. Therefore, this initiative can serve as a sustainable community empowerment model based on circular economy principles.

Background: Pregnancy is a physiological process experienced by every woman, but it can be accompanied by various discomforts, both physical and psychological. In the third trimester, hormonal, physical, and emotional changes often trigger complaints such as anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and discomfort. These conditions, if not managed, can negatively impact the health of the mother and fetus, including increasing the risk of pregnancy complications. One non-pharmacological approach that is increasingly in demand to address these problems is aromatherapy, namely the use of essential oils from plants as a complementary therapy. Objective: This literature study aims to explore the effectiveness of aromatherapy in reducing anxiety levels and improving sleep quality in pregnant women, especially in the final trimester. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted by analyzing ten national journal articles published between 2014–2024. Articles were selected through a purposive sampling method based on the suitability of the topics with aromatherapy, pregnancy, anxiety, and sleep quality. Results: Most studies show that aromatherapy, especially with lavender, orange, and chamomile essential oils, has a positive effect in reducing anxiety levels and improving sleep quality. The mechanism of action of aromatherapy is thought to involve stimulation of the limbic system in the brain via the olfactory pathway, which plays a role in regulating emotions, inducing relaxation, and reducing sympathetic nervous system activity. These effects help reduce tension and facilitate better sleep in pregnant women. Conclusion: Aromatherapy has been shown to be a safe, easy-to-implement, and effective complementary intervention for addressing anxiety and sleep disturbances in pregnancy. Healthcare providers, particularly midwives, are advised to integrate this therapy into holistic antenatal care to support the overall well-being of pregnant women.
