Student cooperatives in Islamic boarding schools are no longer merely understood as business units providing daily necessities, but have developed into socio-economic spaces that shape independence, trust, and Islamic entrepreneurship education among students. This study is motivated by the limited number of studies examining pesantren cooperatives as socio-religious processes that cultivate values of trustworthiness, responsibility, transparency, and cooperation in students’ daily lives. The study aims to explain the empirical practices of student involvement in cooperative management, the social relations formed through economic activities in pesantren, and their implications for Islamic entrepreneurship education and the strengthening of pesantren economic independence. This research employed a qualitative approach with a field study method conducted at Pondok Pesantren Modern Elfira 2 Purwokerto. Data were collected through observation, interviews with cooperative administrators and student managers, and documentation of financial reports and cooperative operational activities. The findings reveal that students are directly involved in managing goods inventory, customer service, digital financial recording, and the distribution of daily necessities within the pesantren environment. These practices foster values of trustworthiness, transparency, responsibility, and cooperation through supervision systems, work shift arrangements, and daily evaluations. In addition to strengthening the pesantren’s economy, the cooperative also functions as a medium for experiential Islamic entrepreneurship learning. This article contributes to the sociology of Islamic education by demonstrating that student cooperatives function as socio-economic laboratories that shape students’ independence, social trust, and Islamic entrepreneurial ethics within the everyday life of pesantren communities.

This study aims to examine the implementation of Continuous Improvement (CI) within the Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) framework at the village government level, focusing on governance, community engagement, and livelihood sustainability. The study employed a qualitative approach with an interpretive case study strategy, through document review and in-depth interviews. The results indicate that CI practices at the village level are contextual and adaptive, and most closely align with the incremental (Kaizen) approach that emphasizes incremental improvement, community participation, and continuous learning. The PDCA cycle serves as a reflective mechanism that allows village governments and communities to adjust policies and programs based on empirical evaluation and social feedback. Theoretically, these findings extend the study of CI in the local public sector by emphasizing its relevance to village governance. Practically, this study demonstrates that strengthening documentation, data-driven evaluation, and human resource capacity are key to CI sustainability at the village level.

Contemporary Javanese music, particularly Campursari, blends traditional gamelan instruments with modern genres such as pop, dangdut, and keroncong. This hybrid style has gained popularity among Millennials and Generation Z, who often perceive it as familiar, calming, and emotionally comforting. This study examines whether listening to contemporary Javanese music influences the sleep quality of Generation Z in Yogyakarta. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey distributed through Google Forms to 50 participants aged 19–26 years. The questionnaire measured listening frequency, emotional responses to the music, and perceived sleep quality using a Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS with descriptive statistics, including the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, linear regression, and tests for heteroscedasticity and multicollinearity. The results indicate a positive relationship between listening to contemporary Javanese music and improved sleep quality. The familiar and emotionally soothing characteristics of Campursari appear to help listeners relax and reduce stress before sleep. These findings suggest that culturally rooted music may serve as a simple, non-pharmacological approach to supporting better sleep and emotional well-being among young adults..

Interpersonal problems within peer groups often become serious obstacles to the psychological and academic development of college students. This study aims to empirically examine the effectiveness of individual counseling services using cognitive restructuring techniques in reducing withdrawal behavior among college students experiencing peer conflict. The research method employed is a quantitative experiment with a Single-Subject Design approach, specifically utilizing an A-B design. The research subject  was a 6th-semester female college student, initialized as N, who experienced cognitive distortions in the form of feelings of exclusion by her five-member peer group, which triggered acute social withdrawal behavior (isolating herself in her boarding house). Data collection was conducted through a validated withdrawal behavior scale instrument, supported by clinical observations and in-depth interviews during the baseline phase (A) and the intervention phase (B). The results of the visual analysis within-conditions and between-conditions indicated a significant decrease in withdrawal behavior scores after the implementation of 4 intervention sessions. The subject was able to identify negative automatic thoughts (arbitrary inference), replace them with rational mindsets (positive thinking), feel more relieved, and commit to self-improvement. The implications of this study prove that individual counseling with cognitive restructuring techniques can be an effective intervention strategy for campus counselors to overcome cognitive distortions and interpersonal communication barriers in college students.

This study aims to examine the factors influencing employee engagement in AI-driven organizations, particularly from the perspective of Artificial Intelligence (AI) leadership. This literature review focuses on the relationship between AI leadership, AI utilization, and employee engagement in contemporary organizational settings. The review was based on recent empirical studies selected according to their relevance to artificial intelligence, leadership, employee engagement, work engagement, and knowledge sharing. The analysis indicates that AI does not inherently improve employee engagement merely through its availability in the workplace. Employee engagement is likely to improve with AI-savvy leadership that is supported by meaningful AI utilization, an innovative organizational culture, effective change leadership, work engagement, and enhanced team performance. AI implementation can promote employee knowledge sharing through learning opportunities, especially when supported by paradoxical leadership and positive employee attitudes toward technology. Therefore, this review highlights the importance of human-centered leadership in enabling employees to experience AI as a source of learning, collaboration, empowerment, and meaningful contribution.

The development of halal tourism has encouraged sharia hotels to provide services that are not only comfortable and functional, but also consistent with Islamic values and halal assurance. This study aims to analyze the integration strategy between sharia hotels and halal restaurants in increasing guest visits and satisfaction at Mangkuto Sharia Hotel Payakumbuh. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving hotel management, operational employees, guests, sharia certification experts, and representatives of the local government. The data were analyzed descriptively and strengthened through strategic analysis using the Resource-Based View (RBV), Value Chain, SWOT analysis, IFAS-EFAS matrix, TOWS matrix, and Blue Ocean Strategy. The findings reveal that service integration was implemented through sharia-based operational policies, halal assurance systems in restaurant activities, and cross-departmental coordination between the front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage departments. This integration created added value in the form of physical comfort, emotional trust, and spiritual peace for guests. Internal hotel data also indicated an increase in occupancy rates from 26% in 2020 to 52% in 2024 following the implementation of the sharia concept and halal restaurant integration. Strategic analysis positioned the hotel in Quadrant I (aggressive growth strategy), supported by its halal reputation, Islamic organizational culture, guest trust, and its uniqueness as the first sharia hotel in West Sumatra certified by the National Sharia Council–Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI). The implication of this study shows that the integration of sharia hospitality can serve as a competitive product strategy rather than merely a compliance instrument, while also supporting the development of regional halal tourism.

Abstract. This study aims to describe students’ motivation toward online learning at Universitas Negeri Medan and to identify the underlying reasons for such motivation. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design, utilizing the ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction) motivational model and Expectancy-Value Theory as the theoretical frameworks. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 34 English Education students and semi-structured interviews with 5 purposively selected participants. The results indicated that all four components of the ARCS model were in the moderate category, with mean scores of 3.16 for Attention, 3.29 for Relevance, 3.20 for Confidence and 3.20 for Satisfaction. While students appreciated the flexibility and accessibility of online materials (high utility value), they frequently experienced boredom and mental fatigue due to limited social interaction and the "artificial" nature of screen based learning (high cost and low intrinsic value). The study concludes that students remain motivated primarily due to professional aspirations rather than engaging instructional designs. These findings suggest that educators should implement more interactive strategies to enhance student engagement in digital environments.

Government procurement plays a strategic role in supporting effective, efficient, transparent, and accountable public administration. To promote procurement reform, the government has implemented an electronic procurement system through the Electronic Procurement Service (LPSE). The implementation of the Electronic Procurement System (SPSE) in Pematang Siantar City aims to improve procurement quality, reduce irregularities, and accelerate the delivery of goods and services. However, several challenges persist, including limited human resources capable of operating the system, technical disruptions, lack of outreach to local vendors, and weak coordination between the Procurement Unit (UKPBJ) and related agencies. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of SPSE implementation in Pematang Siantar City. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews with UKPBJ officials and procurement officers from several local government units, direct observation of procurement activities via SPSE, and documentation review. Data analysis employed Duncan’s effectiveness indicators: goal attainment, integration, and adaptation. The results show that SPSE implementation has not been fully effective. In terms of goal attainment, procurement processes follow established procedures, but delays still occur due to system disruptions and limited user competence. In terms of integration, coordination between UKPBJ and technical units remains suboptimal, affecting communication and oversight. Regarding adaptation, although the information technology infrastructure is adequate, human resource capacity is still limited. Therefore, improving human resources, strengthening coordination, and enhancing system reliability are necessary to achieve optimal effectiveness.

The Kepus Pungsed ritual, a Balinese Hindu life-cycle ceremony performed in Menyali Village, embodies a set of culturally and spiritually significant lexicons that function as a medium for transmitting traditional knowledge. This study aims to (1) describe the level of perceived understanding of the Kepus Pungsed ritual lexicons among adults, (2) describe the level of perceived understanding among elders, and (3) determine whether there is a significant difference between the two groups. This research employed a quantitative comparative cross-sectional design. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire consisting of 36 ritual lexicons administered to 100 respondents, comprising 50 adults and 50 elders in Menyali Village. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis through the Mann–Whitney U test. The findings reveal a substantial generational gap in perceived understanding. Adults demonstrate a low level of perceived understanding, with 76% categorized as very low and 24% as low. In contrast, elders show a high level of perceived understanding, with 72% categorized as very high and 28% as high. The inferential analysis confirms that there is a statistically significant difference between adults and elders in their perceived understanding of the ritual lexicons. These findings indicate that the lexicons of the Kepus Pungsed ritual are in a vulnerable state due to the decline in comprehension among the younger adult generation. This study highlights the urgency of strengthening intergenerational transmission and suggests the integration of cultural and linguistic elements, particularly through English language education, to support the preservation and revitalization of endangered ritual lexicons.

This study aims to examine how nepotism can manifest through the role of informal institutions and its influence on administrative integrity within the bureaucracy. The method used is literature analysis by examining various related scientific references, such as books, journal articles, and research, which are then analyzed descriptively and analytically through identification, classification, and data integration. The research findings indicate that nepotism does not only arise from weaknesses in the official system, but is also strongly influenced by the existence of informal institutions such as personal networks, social norms, and organizational culture. This practice tends to persist within a system because it gains social recognition, making it difficult to overcome solely with regulations. The consequences include a decline in employee professionalism, weak accountability, and erosion of administrative integrity, which impacts on reduced public trust in government institutions. The implications of this study indicate that a comprehensive approach is crucial in bureaucratic reform, through strengthening the official system and changing organizational cultural values to produce transparent, accountable, and dignified government management.
